Working in a warehouse has its benefits.

I have been working at the warehouse for about 20 days. Well, 21 to be exact.. Here's a few things I have noticed:

There is a certain tone at the warehouse, that I love. It's not too harsh, but it's not butterflies and cupcakes either. Several times people shout at each other, but in a banter-like way. It took me a few days to get used to, but now I'm joining in their convos and their shouting. Lots of laughs as well.

It's a healthy place as well. Free fruit and all the water you can drink. You also walk a lot, so you'll get your steps in. As I am writing this, I've walked 20.643 steps. My most walked steps are 22.259, which was Thursday last week. I also carry a lot of weight, since some of the items are quite heavy. Up to 22 kilos, or 48 lbs, so I'm getting a workout done every day.

It's also a place that takes care of their employees. Free breakfast every Friday morning, and sometimes there's cake as well. For the 21 days I have been there, I have had four different types of cake... It's mainly been because people have gone on holiday or stops working there. A going-away cake? Yeah, I think that's the right thing to call it. We also got a cake when someone went on vacation. "Hey, we have bought a holiday cake. Dig in", was their exact words. One of the girls in the office had a birthday on Saturday, so she offered us flødeboller. What they are, are small pieces of heaven. They look like this

Some are different than others, but the main ingredients are the same: a biscuit base topped with marshmallow-like filling and then coated in a hard shell of pure milk or dark chocolate. Some more expensive versions use a marzipan base, which gives the treat a completely different flavor.

Some, particularly Danes, will go "Yeah, flødeboller! The thing we Danes are known for inventing"... The only problem is, that it's not true. Some argue that it might be Scottish, because they have something similar there, called a chocolate mallow biscuit. However, waaaaaaaaay back in 1912, a Danish gentleman named Willy Elikofe, came back from the United States, with a recipe for a chocolate treat, that we now know as flødeboller. Bonus info: The literal translation of flødebolle is cream bun, so.. Yeah.. I would call it a chocolate marshmallow treat..

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked here. Where was I.. Oh yeah.. Someone had a birthday and gave us chocolate treats..

I have already learned so much working there, and I cannot WAIT to learn even more!

I love working there, because you get to meet so many different people, and you learn so many new things! If this is how the first month has been, then I'm sure that I'll remain there for many years to come!

Saying goodbye is never easy - but it had to be done!

Way back in 2021, I wrote a blog about having dinner with K. Up until then, things had been great. We went to shows, went to the cinema and just hung out at her place. She also spent a night at the place I used to live at with a friend.

Since that dinner, I have heard very little from her. Whenever we eventually DID meet, it was always a "Hi, I'm on my way to bed. Let's meet up at some point", which was fine. "She'll contact me with a time to meet", was my thought.

That was a year and a half ago.

Somehow it felt like she didn't want to spend time together. That I somehow had crossed a line that shouldn't be crossed. I don't know what line that was, because I hadn't done anything remotely bad.

Wednesday afternoon, I asked her to tell me straight how she felt. No sugar coating. Just 100% honesty. I got a reply the same evening, where she told me, that she wasn't really interested in meeting up and do low-key stuff such as making some food and watch movies, because "we don't watch the same movies or shows, so it would be stupid to meet up for that". She also prefers to go to big and small metal concerts, which I don't.

My reply to her was that she at least could send a message now and again with a "Hi, how are you?". You know, small-talk.

That message was left on read for three days. That cemented it for me. If she wanted to small-talk, she would have replied. If she wanted to continue, she would have replied. So I did what I really should had done last year: I stopped it. Everything. I wrote her a message, where I outlined my decision. I then wished her well, unfriended her and blocked her.

Now, you might think "Isn't it a bit too extreme to unfriend and block because of no reply?"

Well, under normal circumstances - yes. But having messages left on read for months and no replies on "Hello, how are you doing?", isn't really worth pursuing. It's not a friendship worth having. I would rather cut ties and move on, rather than hoping things would change. Because, let's be real here - things won't change.

In my message I sent Wednesday afternoon, I said "If you are dating someone - tell me". Her reply to that was "Me dating someone or not isn't really relevant".. Which is a line someone says when they are dating someone.

I admit, my personal feelings has a part to play here. Deep down I kind of hoped that K and I would end up as a bit more than friends, which is why "Me dating someone or not isn't really relevant" stuck with me.

So now, well now I can focus on work, and not focus on whether or not K has replied to a message I have written. Do I need time to "move on"? No. I just jump head first into work. I also have my upcoming trip to think about. 101 days to go until I take off towards the USA.

I am very excited for that.

One is wrong and the other isn't?

Russia invaded the Ukraine. They have destroyed homes, and killed civilians. Even the ones who liked them. A good portion of the world's countries vilify Russia. They rush to help the Ukraine and cut Russia off from the world.
So they get called a terrorist nation. Yet, Israel does the same to Palestinians and everyone looks the other way. More and more I see Israel as a terrorist nation. And I thought they got rid of Netinyaho or however you spell his name. Instead of being happy that land was yanked from the Palestinians who lived there to make a country for the Jews...they got greedy and want it all to the sea.
Why do they get to do what they want in the OCCUPIED west bank and say it is their right to build. Yet the rest of the world either lets them get away with similar to Russia or pat them on the head.
I don't get it.confused

I'm a fan.

I'm a fan of Tiny Houses, and the myriad of tiny homes that I've seen in videos over the last 2-3 years have made me want to own one. There are 'villages' all over the US that foster a community spirit. They seem to be ideal as retirement communities, and I wish this was something that home-building companies in my country would do, towards providing better affordable-housing options.
But, of course, they probably wouldn't make the kind of money that they want, since our housing situation is so costly, and they profit so much from it.blues sigh

Blog is Gone mostly because of a Lie..

Is free speech important for anyone. Its bee culture cancelled in places of higher learning today. Can lies and cancel culture ever be acceptable? Never for me. Open communication is the way. Can wrongly being accused, without evidence ever be acceptable. No, Not even reconcilable.

Carry on. ….. .

A new toy for me, and a health update!

The other day, while I was at work, I thought to myself "How much is a PS4 Pro these days?".. So I went online and had a look. I was pleased to find out, that it was super cheap, so I was kind of thinking "Hey, maybe I should buy one. I know I have a PS4 Slim, but a PS4 Pro is so much better".. So I looked at my savings account, and I had the money for it. So I withdrew the amount, and then I reserved the console for pickup later that day. What could possibly go wrong? Well.. As it turns out.. A lot..

When I arrived at the store, I went into the warehouse, laid my phone down on the counter and went "Hi, I have this to pick up." The guy went into the depths of the warehouse to find the item, and when he brought it back, I asked him, if they accepted cash or cards only.. "Cards only. If you have cash, you have to go into the store to buy it. Take this little sticker with you. It has a barcode that they have to scan. After that, come back and collect your item".

Alright, cool. I did what he said, and I went into the store. I went to the department, where they had the item. I presented the barcode sticker to the guy behind the counter..

"Oh, you need to head over to the registers to buy it."

Cool cool. I went over to the registers. The lady scanned the barcode - which wouldn't go through. She then had to call the head office to ask what she had to do. Instructions were passed, and I paid for the item. I then went back to the warehouse, presented the receipt and the sticker, and went "I am back. Here you go".

The guy looked at me and went "Where is the blue cardboard item that you took?".. I then had to explain, that I reserved the item, and went into the store to pay, because I had cash and not card. At this point, it had taken me 30 minutes to pick up my PS4.. I am a very patient guy, so I didn't really mind waiting. The guy behind the counter called a coworker over, and went "What am I gonna do next?". The coworker explained what he had to do, and once that was done, I finally received my item. Now it is just chilling on my tv stand, and I am enjoying every minute of it.

But all this could have been avoided if I had just bought it with my card, and not with cash. That shows me that I need to do that more often..

In other news: My uncle is improving every day, which is a relief. They have found two small clots in the left side of his neck, so he is scheduled for surgery next Sunday. He is back home now, and on Friday, he is gonna go to the hospital for the surgery. He really dodged a bullet on that front.

Also, yesterday our PM told us, that we had to wear face masks on public transport and while walking around inside restaurants and bars. We are allowed to remove it when we sit down. I am starting to think, that face masks will be mandatory on public transport from now on and until the end of time. I don't really mind it, if I am honest. I do miss hugging people..
