Recovering from the flu. Rough times

On the evening of the 27th, I started to feel bad. My skin was "sizzling", so I decided to call it an early night. When I finally got to bed, I was having a very hard time sleeping. I kept tossing and turning, not able to fall into a deep sleep. I threw in the towel at 4 am, so I turned on my tv, my playstation and watched some YouTube. At that point, fever had set in, followed swiftly by a headache and pains in the joints. At this point, I had a hard time smelling anything - which, I admit, sent me into a panic. Luckily, I had a carton of multi fruit juice, that I bought a few days ago. I opened it up, and, fearing the worst, gave it a smell-test. Lots of thought went through my mind at that point. "What if I cannot smell anything? What if I cannot taste anything? *lots of swearing*".. Luckily, I could both smell AND taste, so I was very relieved. The following hours were spent feeling like I had been hit by a truck, coughing and generally feeling bad about it all.

As the day went by, I thought to myself "I wonder what's wrong with me. It's not the rona, and I don't feel like it's a common cold.".. I decided to just let it go and focus on watching YouTube for the entire day. As the day drew to a close, I was kind of looking forward to go to bed, and get some more sleep, if my body would allow it. I got around 4 hours of sleep that night. That takes us to yesterday: You guessed it, I spent the day watching YouTube, and that's pretty much it. It's amazing just how little you can do when you are sick. I did feel a bit better, so I was hoping that some more sleep would help with my illness. I did get a lot more sleep, and this morning, I was awake at 9.30 am. I went to sleep at 11.30 pm yesterday, so I had been in bed for about ten hours. Did I sleep for all that time? No. I think I might have slept for about 7 hours or so, which is a vast improvement from the previous night.

At this point, it should be noted, that my housemate came down with a sickness the day before I got sick. One of the YouTube videos playing was from Doctor Mike, and he mentioned influenza. I had never bothered to check if that was what I was "suffering" from, so I decided to google influenza and the symptoms: Everything was fitting. So now I am battling the flu, for the first time in about 5 years. When I told my housemate about it, he was all "damn, you got it too. I was isolating from you, so you wouldn't get it"... I did anyway.. Thanks for that, you donut!

Anyway.. I feel good today, but we'll see how I am tomorrow. If I feel better, I will possibly do some shopping. Well, a shower first, and then some shopping

Ideas for how I can make money

I had a great idea yesterday evening, during a livestream on Twitch. The broadcaster is raising money for charity, and I am live with them on voice chat. The written chat gave me a fantastic idea: Selling audio files of me talking about something. Maybe even a rant about a certain subject. That gave me an idea on how to make money: Invest in a good microphone, and then create a profile on Fiverr. Then sell audio files for £1, where I ramble on about something. Maybe a bigger amount, depending on the content. One of the guys in chat wanted to pay 50 euro for me reading the entirety of The Hobbit.. I am not sure if he was serious, but still.. 50 euro is a lot of money.

Or maybe I should just look for more stable employment somewhere in Europe. Due to the pandemic, most of the jobs are work from home anyway, so I am not going to move to a different country. Yet.

Upgrading some stuff and adding to my collection

My Trust external keyboard decided to stop letting the E key work, so I had to get a new one. Usually, I am going for the more expensive brands, like Razer, but my budget just isn't there for that, so I went with a cheaper alternative, called Fourze. It's a Danish company, that specialize in gaming equipment, and the price was only $48.45. It's RGB and everything. Because the keyboard was so cheap, I could get some new films for my ever growing collection of blu-rays. I picked some classics: Armageddon and The Rock! I need more space for my films, but that's a project for another day. I also looked into getting a deep fryer, but I don't have any use for it at the moment, so it would be pointless to get one at this moment.

In other news: One of the island here in Denmark, Bornholm, is opening up, with hairdressers being the main thing that's being put focus on in the media. Why? Because people from all over the country are calling, to see if they have any available times. Now, Denmark isn't big, but it still takes 7 hours to drive from Esbjert, the most Western point of the country, to Bornholm, which is located south of Sweden.. Here's a question: Who on Earth drives SEVEN hours for a haircut?

Embedded image from another site

I would never drive seven hours for a haircut. Ever! I would rather wait, since none of us are leaving our homes anyway. Nobody to see your long covid hairdo, so there's no need for a hairdresser. My hair is getting longer, but I don't need a haircut anytime soon. Maybe once everything opens up, I will go and get a haircut. Maybe. I will possibly just cut it all off again and start over, like I did the last time.

Don't send out the email UNTIL you have confirmation!

This keeps happening to me: A company calls me, asking if I am available for work in a certain time frame. It can be a week to a few months, possibly years. I am unemployed at the moment, so I am always saying yes, no matter what the job is. What happened today, also happened when I was a temp worker.

First, some context: My municipality called me the other day, asking if I wanted to become a rapid covid tester. The pay was good, and the job would run into June. "Score", I thought to myself. Something to do until I am closer to the start of the education for truck driver, which I WILL take. I was phoned two days later, where the guy at the other end, said that he would mention me to their HR department, and then I would be given an assigned place to work. All I had to do was wait for further instructions.

So I did!

Then, earlier today, I got an email, saying that they were not going to need rapid covid testers, because the government didn't include my municipality in the first wave of re-openings. I was welcome to apply again, once the government implements a broader opening.

Here's a suggestion, possibly something that should be common knowledge: Never promise ANYTHING until it's been CONFIRMED and set IN STONE! It's extremely infuriating to be told one thing, only for another thing to happen. The next time they ask, I will definitely ask "Is this actually confirmed, or is it a 'just-in-case' thing?" If they reply "Just in case", my reply will be "Not interested. I want possible permanent employment, not 'maybe'".

They also keep failing in doing the most basic things. Like my monthly payment. I am on benefits, and they are often late with it, which panics me, because I have bills to pay. Rent, phone, streaming services and a savings account that needs money badly. Whenever my payment is late, I have to write an email to let them know, that I haven't received any money. But when I am late with doing something, they are literally threatening to cut my payment. It's fine when they are late, but when I am late, oh man! All hell breaks loose. I am also asking them about a place to live, since they can provide me with an apartment. Whenever I ask, I get the same answer: You have to have been in permanent employment for at least three months. When I then ask about what they can do for me in terms of finding a job, they go "Oh well that costs money, and we don't have that many to use on that".. It's not like I am not putting in the effort. Over the last three years, I must have applied for at least 400 jobs. I have heard back from 15, at the most.

Time to browse the job markets and see what's available, again. I did that yesterday as well, and I was qualified for three jobs.. Out of 15.000.. Maybe I should learn a new skill? Like rocket science, or just some networking stuff.

I wonder how long I will be unemployed this time.

It's been a while since my last blog, so it's time for an update!

Last time, I left off with me going to a job interview. It went well, but they decided to go with someone else. However, he kept my information for possible later use. Meanwhile, I went to a job fair in Copenhagen Airport, and I got a number of jobs to apply for,and it's everything from fast food worker to gate personnel. I will spend the rest of the day applying for those jobs. I hope I will get a job soon, so I can save up money for a trip and a place to live.

On the home front, two new people have moved in. Well, one is moved in, while the other will arrive next week. It's always exciting with new people. The guy already moved in seems like a decent enough guy, so I don't think we'll have any problems with him. I have yet to meet the other guy, but apparently he's also very relaxed, so hopefully he's not going to be trouble.

In other news: My PS4 suggested a new app to me: NBA TV.. Curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded the app. Once I opened it, I was greeted with a "subscribe to watch live games and classic games on demand". Only $6.99 per month, which I could afford, so I signed up. I have watched a few games, but I still don't really know what's going on. I have had to Google most of the fouls and most of the terminology, but I know if I just keep at it, I will be pretty well versed in NBA at some point. Luckily the games aren't that long, which helps a lot..

Trucking abroad? Could be fun!

I came across a YouTube video where a Danish trucker told about the time he went to Canada for a year to get work experience as a truck driver. That got me thinking: If the program is still there, once I finish my full trucker education, maybe I could inquire about doing that? Of course, it's still years away, so they might not have that program by then. But, what if they have? Trucking for a year in Canada? I wouldn't say no.

The guy in the video had nothing but good things to say about the experience. He also said, that every school, that educates truck drivers, sometimes have posters up, with advertisements for the program. If my school has that, I will definitely inquire about it. The video provided a link where people could read more about it - so I did. Unfortunately, the program has been put on hold because they are having a hard time getting work- and residence permits, no doubt because of the pandemic.

Hopefully they will have sorted it out when I am finished, because I would love to do that! Imagine a YEAR in Canada, driving a truck on the highways, with some awesome scenery.

The video, I am talking about, can be seen here. It's in Danish, but it's subtitled

I am going towards an exciting future, for sure!
