Time to throw myself into the dating world again.

The last time I tried this dating-thing, I did end up with a short but sweet two week romance with a girl I met online. She lived across the country, but I had no problem with taking the bus to see her. She lived in a tiny apartment, but it was homey. I still remember the layout of the place. When you entered the hallway, you had the bathroom , the shoe rack and the coat hanger on the left, and storage space, fridge and kitchen on the right. Well, when I say kitchen, I really mean kitchenette. Walking out of the tiny hallway, you had the living room and a room divider, where the bed was located.

When we met up, we sat down for some good conversation. I was there for the weekend, so it's not like we were going on excursions or anything. We mainly spent the time indoors, watching movies or playing guitar hero. Having a lot of fun. First kiss was on the night I arrived. Many more were exchanged over the weekend. Sunday arrived, and I had to leave home. I was there the following weekend, where we continued where we left off when I left the week before. However, this time it was different. She told me, that she was talking with her ex, about possibly hooking up with him again. It left me a bit "Oh boy, now what? I am falling in love with this girl, and she's possibly getting back with her ex.. What do I do".. She told me, that she wanted to take a breather and think about what she really wanted to do. If she wanted to begin something with me, or go back to her ex. A few days after I got home, she dropped the text: She didn't have the desire to see me again, and she was going back to her ex.

That was the last time I heard from her. The following month, I left for Scotland, so it's 7 years ago. I still remember it vividly, though.

Since that time, I have sort of tried to take it slow on that front. I have rarely engaged in things that could lead to any sort of relationship. I think that might have scared me away from any sort of romantic interests. Now, I know what you must be thinking now: "But Philipsen, what about the girl you fell in love with a few years ago, who went by R?".. Yes, that's one of the rare occasions where I have sort of tested to see if there could be anything other than friendship. R and I never kissed, which sort of puts that to rest. Nothing remotely romantic happened between us. Yes, we were perhaps close friends, but we never crossed the friendship line once.

But now.. Well, now is the time to actively start looking for a relationship. I have no preference as to where the romantic interest has to be from. England, Ireland, USA, Australia, the Philippines.. It doesn't matter. As long as the person is a decent human being, with a functioning brain, who can make her own decisions, then that's fine by me. Kids.. Well, I like kids, so it wouldn't hurt if she had some, or wanted to get some. I might approach the age where I might be a bit too old to put kids into the world, but I still have a few years before I go "Yes, I am definitely too old for children".. Maybe, if she doesn't want kids, maybe her and I could get a dog or a cat.. Am I open to relocating to another country? Oh, absolutely! I love experiencing new places, so I am always up for relocating to another place on the planet.

Time to start looking for that someone - and a job, since I haven't heard back from the temp agency yet. Maybe I will tomorrow.

New rule! I know, another one.. Hear me out!

During my time online, and in the real world, I often hear people say "we" when it comes to sports. Example: "We lost today, because we were bad"..

No.. "we" weren't bad - the team was bad. You cannot say "we" unless you are on the squad or a part of the team in some way. I'm not talking about being a member of a fan club - I'm talking about being a member of the ACTUAL team. Like a coach, or a share holder.

"But Philipsen, some clubs allows fans to have a participation in the club. Shouldn't they be allowed to say "we" about the team?", I hear you ask..

It depends on how much you participate in the team. If you are on the board of directors, then yes. If you give input on fan forums, then no..

It is just me that feels this way?

A small rant

Oh boy, these rant blogs are rare, but they do happen.. So what has sparked my ire today? What made this otherwise calm guy go "argh this annoys me SO much"..? Well.. It's calling things the wrong thing.. Case in point: There was an article on a website today that read "Muscle car impounded". Now, seeing that these types of cars are rare here, I was interested. And also because I love cars.. Anyway..

They recently passed a new law here, that deals with drivers and the reckless driving that some, note: SOME, drivers do. The law states the following: "Reckless driving will result in impounding of the car". Let's say a person drives his/her car in a manner that can cause serious harm and/or death, or if the car is speeding above 100% of the posted speed limit, the car gets impounded. No exceptions. That includes street racing, DUIs and driving at speeds of 200 kmh or over. I hope that makes sense. Anyway!

There was a street race, where a muscle car was involved. Well, according to the media, the car was a muscle car.. Side note: I propose a new rule: Before someone posts an article, they should get the facts right. Anyway, back to the topic of the rant..

The car in question was a Ford Mustang GT. The driver was doing 123 kmh in a 60 kmh zone. In USA numbers, that's 76 mph in a 37 mph zone. As the driver crossed the speed limit by 100%, the car was impounded. The law is a good one, and one that's needed. It's not what this blog is about. Neither is it the street race, since I have attended a few of those in my time..

No, it's the fact that they call a Ford Mustang GT a muscle car.. It's NOT A MUSCLE CAR! It's a pony car. Big difference! The term pony car is used to refer to sporty compact cars that are usually fitted with a small-block V8 engine or sometimes even a V6 engine. Muscle cars, on the other hand, are more muscular and bigger than pony cars. They usually have a big-block V8 under their hood. Why did the media label the Mustang GT as a muscle car? Well, it's because it was a V8 with 300 horsepower. That's definitely not muscle car territory. It can become a muscle car, if it's fitted with suitable high performance parts.

It might be a small thing to complain about, but it REALLY grinds my gears when people mislabel stuff or get stuff wrong. Well, depending on how wrong the thing is. If someone says I'm a handsome devil, I let it slide because I know they're wrong. But when people WRONGFULLY claim that vikings had horned helmets, the Danish in me goes "Now just hang on a minute, mister! You're wrong! Vikings never had horned helmets, despite what other people are telling you". The only reason vikings wears helmets on some tv shows and in some media, is because costume designer Carl Emil Doepler included horned helmets in his costume designs for the 1876 performance of Wagner's classic Norse saga, Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Again: VIKINGS. DID. NOT. WEAR. HORNED. HELMETS, and I would appreciate it if people got that into their heads..

Rant over.. Now back to watching olympics hightlights!

I am the one and only

I have noticed others talking about members having sock puppet accounts and know for sure some dowow

I can proudly say...I only have this one account and think those who have more than one account...must have serious insecurity issues and unable to get their point across with just one single profilewow

All the single profile member pop on by if you wish to discuss the issue of members with puppet accounts...cause these trolls do put off decent folk from posting and fakery is all they contribute

Advice...Be proud if you only have the one profile...be the one and only...just like mewink

it’s important that we understand the danger some people present to us,

To admit that some people literally have no conscience is not technically the same as saying that some human beings are evil, but it is disturbingly close. ? Martha Stout.

A hallmark feature of psychopaths’ disorder is that they don’t get bothered by much of anything. They don’t ruminate and they don’t get depressed. ? Kent A. Kiehl.

And people who do hideous things do not look like people who do hideous things. There is no face of evil. ? Martha Stout.

It's hard to recognize the devil when his hand is on your shoulder. That's because a psychopath is just a person before he becomes a headline. ? Becky Masterman.

Psychopaths know intellectually what is immoral, they just don’t have a feeling of immorality about it. ?Barbara Oakley.

I regularly comment on my desire to exploit my admirers or to kill babies and cute animals, and I don't even need to laugh or smile for people to think I am joking. ? M. E. Thomas.

The eyes of a psychopath will deceive you; they will destroy you. They will take from you, your innocence, your pride and eventually your soul. ? Dr. Samuel Loomis.

Despite the psychopath's lack of conscience and lack of empathy for others, he is inevitably better at fooling people than any other type of offender. ? Anna Salter.

We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more of your children dead tomorrow. ?Ted Bundy.

A psychopath can tell what you’re thinking but what they don’t do is feel what you feel. These are people without a conscience. ?Robert D. Hare.

A psychopath can use a word like “I love you” but it means nothing more to him than if he said, “I’ll have a cup of coffee.” ?Robert D. Hare.

What compels some psychopaths to warn us about themselves and others like them? It’s not a conscience; perhaps it is to instill fear.

in us??? confused dunno

Making plans for the USA! (part 6)

Ah yes, it is that time again! Time for an update to my preparations for my trip to the USA.

In this episode: A new place to visit, and what vaccine requirements I need to travel to the US.

Let's start with the vaccine requirements. My cousin advised me to look up the requirements for vaccines, when traveling to the USA. I have gotten three shots of the Pfizer. Two doses of the vaccine, as well as a booster shot, so I consider myself fully vaccinated. But how exactly does the CDC define "fully vaccinated"?

According to the CDC, fully vaccinated is "when you have completed a COVID-19 vaccine primary series and got the most recent booster dose recommended for you by CDC. If you have completed your primary series—but are not yet eligible for a booster—you are also considered up to date."

Seeing as I have two doses as well as the booster, I am fully up to date on my vaccine. I am still going to print out my vaccine documents, just in case they want to see my proof of vaccination.

Now that that is out of the way, I can turn my attention to what really matters: Places to visit.

I already have the basic touristy stuff planned: The White House, the Washington Monument and the Capitol building, but I have also been advised to go to what my cousin describes as the "best place on Earth to eat" - Cracker Barrel.

Now I know nothing - absolutely nothing - about Cracker Barrel, so I looked it up. The menu looks fantastic, and it seems like it's a reasonably priced place to get some food. I was also given VERY strict orders to bring home a Cracker Barrel branded mug for my cousin, since she's obsessed with the place. Her and her fiancée went to the US on their honeymoon, and they visited a Cracker Barrel. I only know Wendy's, Little Ceasars, Taco Bell, Del Taco and Popeyes, so I am always looking for new places to visit. If you live in or around the Alexandria, VA area, let me know what to try when I visit.

For now, however, time to save up some more money for the trip!

I can't wait!

Where am I really from?

That's the question that has been bugging me for a while now. I know I was born in Copenhagen, so that makes my nationality Danish, but I don't know where my ancestors were from. I have always wanted to know, so yesterday evening I bought a DNA testing kit, which I will have in my possession sometime next week.

I am still not sure how the DNA kit works, but the package will have instructions on how to perform and send the test. A few weeks later, I will get an email with my results.

I have always been told, that my grandfather was a ship builder in the southern part of Denmark, but I was then told yesterday, that one of my descendants were a deserter from the German forces back in World War 1, so it's possible that I have some unknown German family somewhere. Maybe, possibly further down in Europe. I am not expecting anything other than European. In fact, I am probably with 98% certainty a European, but you never know. I would, however, LOVE to have one of those "Well, I didn't expect THAT" moments.

We'll see once the results are in. I will, of course, keep you posted about the findings!

Bizarre Dream

Last night I had such a wierd dream. It happened right before my waking hours, I won't go into detail because it is a fragmenting memory as I type. However it was so real, not scarry just bizarre. I don't understand how my mind can even fathom such situations but it did.

Upon awakening I didn't realize I had been dreaming and thought I was still in my alternate reality. A few seconds before I realized it was a dream then I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I think I was in shock.

How I would love to dive deep into my mind and see how it put the scenario together or what triggered it.

Meeting and communication

98% of the time when meeting someone on these sites, that person usually ask if you want to chat elsewhere. My response is, sure, I have a phone, let's talk with each other and hear each other's voice.

Most of the time, it doesn't pan out. This is my little test to see if they're on the up and up and not a bot just looking for some info on you, like your email for one.

I'm pretty much old school when it comes to communicating over the phone, and just not looking at words on a screen. I like to hear a voice. Is that so bad?

Anyone else feel the same way?

Called in for vaccination!

I woke up to a message from the Danish CDC, where they told me, that I was able to book a vaccine appointment. So I did just that!

I am set to get the Pfizer vaccine. First shot is on the 5th of July, and the second shot is on the 10th of August.

I am so excited to finally get my shots. To get back to a normal life again, where I am fully vaccinated at the end of August. Oh man!

In other news: I am moving soon, since the place I live in currently, has been put up for sale. The price is just under 2 million, which I do not have. If I did, I would have bought the place before it even hit the market. But alas, I have to move. Luckily I have found a room close to here, which is bigger and a bit more expensive, but it's not something that'll destroy my budget.

I am just waiting for a reply back from the renter, so I can come and have a look at the place!
