Winter? NO!!

Our heat wave descended to winter temps. I refuse to fire. Run space heater. I can wear more and stand 65. Ok, maybe bring up a second heater and run both. FINE! I can take the hint. Should run wood furnace outside now to check it out before needed anyway. Yesterday I was with heater. I don't want to go outside..it is only 45 and windy. doh So, it is too cold to go out to start a wood fire to heat the house?frustrated Out with me!! Winter mode is all cats live on that side of the house and pile on top of the furnace. My wood furnace is in a close area and under cover.
I had already taken the bucket off for summer rains and checked chimney with mirror. Started to add paper, cardboard and twigs to start. Two cats jump to the table, ready to leap to furnace. DUMMIES! It is not hot yet!scold roll eyes laugh
Got a fire going and went inside. Sitting on pins and needles. YIPEE! There goes the blower, all is good.
Summer I am always out the living room door. So feed cats on that side in the loggia. Old cats were already migrating to other side prepared for winter switch. But, two new kittens. One half tame, other very tame. As in I squat to work and she climbs to sit on my back. Get both kittens, into house for canned food and take out kitchen side. Put both on top of furnace. This is warm in winter. Here sits you.
Go out to do barn chores, there is my shoulder sitter, Dottie.sigh Come back up from barn, grab, carry through house and put on furnace. STAY.
Old ma cat came up to eat inside. Put her out LR door and...frustrated very mad There sits Dottie. Meow?
Pick up, across house and on furnace. Kittens were there when I did night fill.
This morning, went out with kibble and to fill wood and..both kittens were there. Finally!
It is a hoot in winter. I average 15 cats in winter. They pile on top of the wood furnace. You can tell who got shoved against the chimney pipe too close. White cats with brown fur. A couple of times even the outer guard hairs singed off. Huh..didn't you notice maybe getting a bit TOO WARM?dunno rolling on the floor laughing

We had quite an important visitor today.

A few hours into my shift, I looked outside at the parking lot, to see a particular truck parked there. What kind of truck was it? It was THE weather truck. The one that's famous here in Denmark. It's a Ford Ranger, 3.2 diesel. Anyway, side note.. Why was it here? Why was there a camera crew by the tires? Well.. Apparently, they had to make a piece about tires - specifically winter tires. They had a guy from Continental, the tire manufacturer, come and explain some very clever stuff about tires, I didn't hear it all, because I was busy working. Form what I could gather from my coworkers, it was about how choosing the correct tire meant your fuel economy improved.

They were on site for about 30 minutes, but it was a lot of fun to see how a piece like that was filmed. I don't know when it will be out, but when it is, I will watch it to find out what it was about.

Meanwhile, the weather is getting colder, I'm reaching my breaking point with a friend, and I'm extremely tired. All in all, a great week.

It's right around the corner.

It may be early for some of us, but many other folks (including those where I live) have already begun preparing for Christmas. Yes, there’s Thanksgiving in the US, and Divali/Dewali in my homeland, India and other parts of the world that are way before Christmas, but the preparations for those seem to take second place.

In my country, October usually marks the start of preparations with shopping for curtains/drapes and other decorative household items, repairing or replacing old furniture and appliances, soaking fruits in wine and rum to make fruitcakes, cooking and baking of seasonal foods (and snacks), and the list goes on. When I was a child, Christmastime at my grandparents was a very fun-filled, family-filled and food-filled time (my grandmother was a great cook, and also a great baker).

There’s so much to like, and to do during this season that is really good. But I also know that there’s a bit of it that’s not-so-good. The year is quickly ending and Christmas is right around the corner. Whether you are a ‘Bible believer’ or not, almost everyone is affected by Christmas either directly, or indirectly. There aren't many other holiday seasons that have the kind of impact that it does; I know of many non-Christians that really enjoy what this season has to offer.christmas happy

Where's The Outrage?

Yet another rough weekend here in Chicago. Where's the outrage? Where are the protestors? Where's BLM?
Do Black Lives not matter when other Black Lives are doing the shooting and killing? If they wanted to do something constructive they would come down and march in these areas where the majority of the shootings are happening. But they can't be bothered to do something constructive that might actually draw attention to a real crisis that we have going on here.

SOFTIE…

People who are easily emotional and feel the pain of others deeply are considered to be ‘softies’. Some see such persons as being kind and empathetic, whilst others see them as being ’weak and stupid’. For example, the Cambridge Dictionary states that a softie is “a kind, gentle person who is not forceful, looks for the pleasant things in life, and can be easily persuaded to do what you want them to”, whilst the Merriam-Webster’s definition is “1: a weak or foolish person and 2 : a soft-hearted or sentimental person."

In Psychology the term is “Soft Personality”, and identifies different types and traits.

If a man is seen as being soft (by women and other men), then that’s not a good thing, because that’s the equivalent of being weak and un-masculine. But some men can be big and strong, and still be a softie. Men usually have to present and maintain the image of toughness and stoicism (even if they aren’t naturally so), in order to be regarded in a positive light. However, women being soft is more acceptable, and is even desired as a character trait by interested males.

I can’t recall, exactly, when I first realized that I was a ‘softie’, but I can say that I don’t think I may have always been so. Seems to me, that when I was much younger I was less so, but who’s to say that I wasn’t ‘born this way’. Make no mistake, I’ve also been known to be tough and abrasive, not easily persuaded, and (very) foolish, so there’s no perfect formula to describe my brand of softie.

I’m mentally strong but physically weak, optimistic but pragmatic, appreciative of the simple things in life. I love to laugh but cry easily (at/for anything that’s sad), prefer to see the good in others but I’m too trusting, forthright but forgiving. Sounds like a resume or personal ad, right (laugh). Seriously though, I’m glad that I’m a softie, but it does have its downside…

What about you? Are you a softie, too?

What is thy bidding, my Master?

That is a phrase I can use now.

Earlier today, I went for an apprenticeship interview at an international mover, based around 30 minutes from my home. Well, 32 minutes, to be exact.

On my way home, they offered me the apprenticeship, which I accepted!

That means I will have to leave home at the exact same time I am used to, and take the same bus as I usually do, which is absolutely perfect!

"But Philipsen, which countries do move stuff to?", I hear you ask? I'm glad you did. The company has established a van-line, which operates fixed services between the Scandinavian capitals and London every week. Scandinavian capitals means Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo. That means that once I have acquired my truck driving license, the company can ask me "Are you up for a trip to Oslo?", to which I say "sure, let's go!". During the interview, they also talked about a few trips they have had to Scotland, which, as you know by now, is one of my favourite places ever!

So now we just need to finalize the small details, like the start date and such. I am determined to make it there. I will work harder than ever to make sure, that I finish my education at that company.

The next step for me, in 11 days, is my Category B license. I am SO excited for that!

why are people so lazy that they cut n paste blogs ,,,it is not hard to read some thing interesting and then relay it as you see it ,the same applies with people who post links to a article ,,,
links are dangerous as they can contain a virus or malware ,,,

the same applies to the nut jobs ,,that write a blog and the only comments are the person that posted it ,,

Ever hear of Disintegrationists?

Just started a book titles How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps by Ben Sharpiro. He uses the term to describe what fits the libs/Dems/Green people. The premise is America is corrupt, for the rich, war mongers and more. True. BUT, their idea is to tear the constitution up, add more laws and eliminate free will and free enterprise. He points to things that are going on today. Like the cries about race, gender, welfare, climate and such.
Now I agree that America is guilty of "crimes" around the world and this country for decades. And our CIA and FBI and government politicians are corrupt. Things need to change. Not that they ever have. The elites control the peasants and the rich get richer.
But, Bidens Dems want to tear down with nothing in the works to replace it. Kind of throw the baby out with the bathwater.doh
Their method is turn everyone against each other. Let them riot and then step in and take over. Drive people out of their homes, farmers off their farms and then buy it all up so they own it all and can rent it out.
Control the food and control the masses.
Sell everyone electric cars and then close all the power plants. Teach children that what they think is not the truth. Print money to send overseas to help them and deny our own. Cause turmoil and turn neighbor against neighbor and then step in and say it is for your own good.
Anyone remember Kent state?
Just saw a video where the FBI with 3 guys knocked on a guys door. They wanted to know if the 2 guns he bought and registered were safe. Just checking. If they are in his house, then all is fine. WTH? very mad
FBI went to sheriff and asked to see records of gun permits. Missouri. Sheriff told the FBI to go jump. Not giving in. Arrest him or get out.
Guns? What guns? Threw it in the river. Go fish.rolling on the floor laughing

My first long trip as a mover!

Yesterday, I was asked if I was able to go to Jylland, on a two day trip. Naturally, I said yes. The first rule of business, was to load some furniture for delivery.

At 9.30, we left the yard. The trip over there wasn't extremely interesting. Nothing major really happened, so me and my coworker were just engaging in conversation.

We arrived at the first customer a few hours later, which was an auction house. We had to pick up two sofas. It only took about ten minutes, so we were in and out rather quickly. The second pickup was a bit more interesting. It was a Norwegian man, who was moving to South Korea, so he needed some things collected.

The way things work in the moving business, particularly if we are talking about overseas shipping, is that every piece of furniture needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap. Every single chair, every single sofa, every single cabinet needs to be wrapped. My coworker told me to wrap the chairs, while he wrapped the sofas. When he came back after wrapping the sofas, his first comment was "Wow, you work fast! I was afraid that you would have some trouble with wrapping, since it's your second day. I was wrong!". That made me feel like I was a millionaire. Praise works well with me.

Anyway, we spent about an hour wrapping the gentleman's items, and loaded them onto the truck.

Now, naturally there are some heavy items when it comes to the moving business, but it's really not too bad, once you get the hang of it. Sofas are a weird shape sometimes, but once you place your hand the correct place, you can carry it with one hand.

After we had loaded the items on the truck, we headed for a truck stop, where we finished up the day. It was also at that truck stop, that I was to experience sleeping in a truck, for the first time ever. I slept okay, but I didn't get a full nights sleep, sadly.

Dawn broke, and we had some breakfast. Then, it was off to deliver the furniture we loaded up on the previous day. Twenty minutes later, we were off again to collect some more furniture. Upon arrival at the pickup, we quickly wrapped the first two pieces of furniture we picked up at the auction house, and then we picked up the items we were supposed to get. They were also wrapped, and after that, it was time for some food and then to head back home to the yard.

It was quite a windy day today, so the drive home was sketchy, but we made it in one piece.

All in all, a good trip. I am off tomorrow, because I need to acquire a doctor's notice for when I start my driving license on Monday. I am excited for that! And also to get back to work!
