Move Over Law...

Florida's Move Over Law aka Right-of-way traffic law, got tougher in 2024. Basically, it was designed for safety of police and first responders who have their emergency flashers on when stopped or parked on a highway shoulder.
On a multi-lane highway, you are required to 'move over' a lane giving safe clearance. For example, an officer opens his car door and steps out and he's right at the edge of the travel lane.

The law changed this year to include ANY vehicle with flashers on. This includes stranded vehicles. Maybe you've seen someone who is on the side of the road, crouched down changing a flat tire only a few feet from the roadway... they have no chance of safety. With the car jacked up and a truck flying by at 65mph there is enough wind force that could easily knock the stand off the car. The same thing for a tow truck who may be backing at a slight angle to hookup and be close to the edge of a travel lane.

Sometimes, it's not possible to move over with adjacent travel. People are too aggressive to allow someone access to their lane and not responsive to the law. In that case you're required to SLOW DOWN at least 20 mph below the posted limit.

Yeah, it's the law, but I rarely see people moving over.

Dr. Death.

Old news I know, but not for me.

In a room in Dublin, a man nicknamed "Dr Death" is teaching people how to die. A dozen people are here to plan their suicides.

On a screen, poisonous substances are ranked in order of convenience, availability and painfulness.

Dr Death sits at the front of the room, not facing directly at his audience - almost as if it's too hard to look them in the eye. But they clearly have no inhibitions about being there.

One woman says she has traveled from Singapore for this. The audience is made up mainly of elderly people - many have seen friends and family die in horrific ways.

Their host promises an answer for their desperation. In vivid detail, he describes how their final moments could offer something different. It sounds too good to be true.

Apparently the substance leaves no trace of it in the body after death.

I never knew such a service existed.

Is this a good or bad choice?

Maybe I'm a coward but I strongly believe, while there's life there's hope.dunno confused

Changing my holiday destinations

Well.. One of them. I am still going to Italy this year and the US next year. It's the year after that, I am changing.

You may recall, a few blogs back, that I was going to the Philippines. I had a bit of a think earlier today, and I have decided to swap the Philippines for Japan. More specifically - Tokyo. I have always wanted to go to Japan on holiday, and now I have the opportunity to go there.

It's still a ways away, so lots of time to save up and plan what to see and do. I know someone in Japan, so I might ask that person to be my tour guide, unless that person suggests it by themselves.

But why do I want to go to one of the biggest cities in the World as a person who does not like big crowds? Well.. It's pretty simple: I want to learn how to be comfortable in big crowds. My trip to Italy and the US will definitely help towards making me more comfortable with a lot of people.

I have been in places with a lot of people before, but that was in a large open area. The biggest crowd I have been in was 120.000 people at a festival in the UK. The population of Tokyo, if you count the entire metro area? About 41 million..The city of Tokyo alone is 13.9 million.

So now it's pretty much settled: Italy later this year, the US next year and then it's off to Tokyo for a two week holiday. I just need to know how much the flight and hotel is, and how much spending money I need to bring with me. Lots of time to figure that one out, though..

Birtherism aka the Birther conspiracy...

From what I recall, Trump cast doubt that Barack Obama was an American citizen and then blamed the Clinton's for starting the movement. All sorts of conspiracies arose from this. At the time, John McCain was running against Obama and steered clear because McCain was born in Panama... at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone. Since the Panama Canal was under U.S. control, he was granted a U.S. citizenship at the age of eleven months.

Who else came under the scrutiny of birth right and US citizenship by Trump?
I believe it was Ted Cruz who had dual-citizenship with Canada. All it took was signing a form to denounce his Canadian citizenship when he ran for the US presidency.

Trump is a racist who dislikes immigrants. He's stated that in public and used phrases like poisoning the blood of our country, yet his previous wife Ivana was born in Czechoslovakia. She was the mother of their 3 children. Donald Jr, Ivanka, Eric.

His current wife Melania was born in Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) and the mother of Barron.

Do you see where this is leading?

Vivek Ramaswamy, the son of Indian parents was born in Ohio, was also in words of Trump and his questionable candidates. Vivek dropped out of the race.

Now we're up to Nikki Haley who was born in South Carolina to immigrant parents from India. You guessed it... brown skin and a candidate for the 'poisoning the blood of our country'
Some say she's got no chance if he pulls the birther race card against her.

Republicans have a choice... the brown skin lady or the guy teetering on prison.

Dreams

I remember all of my dreams every night. They are vivid and very real. About 1 out of 10 remembers their dreams even though everyone dreams when they are in rem sleep. Last night I was on the hunt for drugs as a lot of my dreams tend to be and found myself at some shopping mall on a atv riding around the place. It ended with me trying to find my music system that I had loaned out to someone lol.

The End...

The End is a song off The Beatles Abbey Road album that features 3 lead guitar solos. McCartney, Harrison & Lennon each taking turns and each having a distinct style. It was known that George Harrison and Eric Clapton were friends (perhaps more than friends as Clapton married his ex-wife) and rumored he was invited into the studio while they were recording that album.

There are some die-hard Beatles fans who probably have some documentation. It's believed Clapton many have played parts on the album, but was never credited for doing so.

Paul McCartney started out as a guitarist and later switched to bass guitar. He was the main song writer and often dictated to George Harrison exactly what he wanted for many of the guitar parts. I've heard Paul play a few guitar parts and knew he was good, but not as technically proficient as George. When it came to the 3 guitarists 'trading licks' for The End, it was my opinion that Clapton may have some input without credit.

The guitar cover in this blog has all the parts played singularly. There are several similar videos with some listing who played what part. I could easily believe the part listed as Paul was really George and the part listed as George could have been Clapton. Lennon was the gruff & noisy one.. no mistake about that.
Why do I think it was Clapton? The searing high notes with vibrato was his trademark when he was in The Cream. However, it was stated in many interviews that George was heavily influenced by Eric's style.

Here's one on many covers of The End:

DeSantis is out...

Nearly all of the back biting is over. It's not that Florida's absent governor Ron DeSantis really had a chance at the Republican nomination, but it's down to Nikki Haley and Donald Trump. Come crawling back to Florida Ron... maybe You can catch up on reversing the laws they reversed while you were gone.
It's okay... but I suggest you get some taller lifts for those boots as you're looking mighty low right now.

who gets their way? men ... or ....women?

Does a woman with a promiscuous nature get her way?

or

Does a man who does not want his woman to be promiscuous get his way?

Right now this question is still being pondered by society.

What do you think?

I mean....is it important that the man gets his way with the relationship? Why can't the woman get hers?
