Love's Philosophy

Over the mountains
And over the waves;
Under the fountains,
And under the graves;

Under floods that are deepest,
Which Neptune obey;
Over rocks that are steepest;
Love will find out the way.

You may train the eagle
To stoop to your fist;
Or you may inveigle
The phoenix of the east;

The lioness, you may move her
To give over her prey;
But you'll never stop a lover:
He will find out his way.

Oh Baby, You Made Me That Way

If I seem like a little too much to handle
If I laugh like an angel on Judgment Day
If I burn like the sparks from a roman candle
Oh, baby you made me that way.

If my heart starts to pound
Like a bass drum drummin'
Like the beat when an old
Sun record plays
And if I turn my back when the train is comin'
Oh, baby you made me that way.

I used to play it safe,
Never thinkin' what I might miss.
Who knew there'd come a day
When I would come alive like this
With just one kiss?

If I choose the edge over the middle
If I moan at the sound of a certain name
And if I lean just this side of illegal
Oh baby, you made me that way.

Can't have you

A thousand miles i walk.
a thousand tears I shed,
What is there to do?
What is there to say?
I know I can't have you
What is there to feel?
When you don’t feel the same?
But one thing for sure I know,
I know I can’t have you,

Just Tell Me

Ah!..but if it was just so easy...
and I could go to Dunkin Donuts
and pay a price, and pick you out
among the precious tray of culinary delights,
and bring you home and take a bite
of ecstasy.
Rows of trays, so artfully designed
sprinkles, white and pink and brown
creamy custard centers, dripping with honeydew
and then there was... YOU.
And if your outer cover
was the plainest in the tray
I'd still pick YOU, each and every day.
For God creates that special one
that satisfies beyond
the palate and the tongue.
and touches your heart and soul
like no other... One.
If only, there was but, a simple price to pay
I'd buy your heart.

sidewalk chalk

But for your gated walls
would I have known the breadth of you
nor my own endeavors a seige

O for a wittness
would I leave this land
and return the peace of your border

"Remodeling"

the twisted discourse squeezed the life from the moment
as sure as the ivy destroyed the willow in the back yard
ever climbing in the darkness of night
never ceasing until a crecendo led to disbandment of relations of old

illicit accusations implied and spoken
chopped away at the foundation and ended up as broken chairs against the wall
eventually enough damage pierced the house completely and
a new light shown through to reveal the dawn

I am...

I am-
*This delicate flaw
-contrary to nature's law.
*A positive contradiciton
-lacking any restriction.
*A beautiful mess
-Through words I express.

Hope; More or Less

Passing from one day to the next
Living life as if it were written in text
Discontent, maybe it's me, maybe its my age
Anyway, I'm awake now, time to present myself on stage
My wings flap but do not fly
Won't someone teach me how, or must I die
It's this feeling thats buzzing around my head
Is it me, or is it my soul that's already dead
I can't tell a soul how I feel, or what I must do
Hell no, I couldn't tell you
I've got to grasp the moment and take control
I've got to stop now and pay the toll
It's the silent machines that are building the system
It's personal choice their going to condemn
Do I have a choice
Do I have a voice
Do I need a gun to speak
Tap, tap, tap a morris code so bleak
Must I stand, just in order to fall
In that case I won't do anything at all
Driven so deep, my emotions making me blind
If there were only something, someone to help me find
I don't know, some way to say
Maybe there's something different about today

Tide of Change

Stepping into sunshine,
what's in store.
Time for change,
time to move on.

Walking new pathways,
Learning more.
On unfamiliar land
do I thread.

Friends to guide me,
were I am
Good things go with me
it's time to change.

Seasons change, years move on
Nothing still,time has come.
Guided on to a horizon,
ebbs abound, tide of change.

One small word,
all it takes.
A guided hand,
from a friend.
