Be Yourself

Be Yourself Why would you want to be someone else
When you could be better by being yourself
Why pretend to be someone you are not
When you have something they haven't got

Cheating yourself of the life you have to live
Deprives others of that only which you can give
You have much more to offer by being just you
Than walking around in someone else's shoes

Trying to live the life of another is a mistake
It is a masquerade; nothing more than a fake
Be yourself and let your qualities show through
Others will love you more for being just you

Remember that God loves you just as you are
To Him you are already a bright shining star
Family and friends will love you more too
If you spent time practicing just being you by Ellen Bailey

A Cow Horse

A Horse most wonderful as a being,
A sight they are just for the seeing.
Perfume are they in sweaty foam,
Hot horse reminds me of my home.
Where hours in saddle though pleasure spent,
You ride your horse with work intent.
A good horse is a willing soul,
For him or her their job is whole.
But no gentile mount on which to rest,
If your not ready resolve will test.
Cross ways round sun fishing too.
When your not ready the end of you.
But while still in saddle upon the beast,
The thought of losing seat is least.
Then hard impact upon the ground,
Humility you've finally found.

It (Starts + Ends) By Remainders Of White

Beyond the logical
Comes a non-label

A bubbling brook
Melting icy snow

Words a barricade
Underground

Of origin
Struggling to float

Beware
To sink without

By form
The question

A crystal
A snow-globe

Her written memory
Forgotten or simply dry

Erased?

A Workers Song

I serve the order, the kings, the wealthy,

until mine fingers swell and numb...

I roll the wheels,

when the night watch beats the drum.

....to this fate i am forever bound i ask?

....she paints her face to lure their attentions...

to sweep the night alleys,

with her long dress of red...

tis' this life she has grown accustomed to,

and each breath she draws with solemn dread.

......to this fate is she forever bound she asks?

...a trick for a pound,

...a broken hand for a pence...

nar' enough for crumbs and a drink,

not this night,

no...not this night...

Detached

Walking as if in a fog
Aware of surroundings
Unable to emotionally connect

Watching the world
As if through the lens of a camera
Capturing moments of others

Yet failing to feel
As if the senses of life
Are in need of repair

Performance Artist

I am a Performance Artist
I model and pose
As an ancient stone
Goddess
Without a head or arms

I am a Performance Artist
Even if it is not my
Performance
That performs the
Climax

In most unpleasing
Light
Some see me
And I have seen
Them

My fellow
Performance Artists

Expectations

A white
Line dividing
The highway

An armadillo
Crossing
The night

Slamming
Into concepts
Brakes & skid marks

[Untitled - again]

drenched in sadness the clouds are crying
wrapping the skies in a sheet dark and dull
cracks in the land's breaking rocky skull
swallowing waves leaving them dying

far out a tower, a lonely beacon
a lighthouse in darkness missing its light
mist closing in with its fist clenched tight
the fear to lose bearing my vigour will weaken

lightheaded hope for a gleam down the breakwater
a narrow path stretching from the beach
leading to the tower so near yet hard to reach
the razor-sharp shore foretelling manslaughter

Holding on…

I’m still here…holding on.
Waiting for the change to come.
Praying for deliverance.
Wanting to be moving along. Soon?

Just lingering here;
Yearning for my steps to leave this past behind me.
Praying for the future that I can see
Only in my dreams.
Hoping that it’ll soon be a reality.

Can’t give up.
Don’t want to stop…believing.
Success could be closer than I imagine;
Life is sometimes quite surprising.
So I’ll just keep…holding on.

What is Haiku?

These few words I write
Are stripped as bare as Winter
