her question (my answer)

she looks at me, mid pub, and asks
in a way, rhetorical
as if she knows something
I don't and will never

"why do you live on a boat?"

for the sounds of raindrops
above my sleeping head
for my conversation with dawn
always the same woman
uniquely dressed

for ebb for flow for light
light such as it is
it informs, comforts, and listens
for breeze, whipped

for a wild mirror
pitched at an angle
past me
to show truth

for the lone swan
whose visits mean more
to me than it

for the years that should have taken
yet didn't.

for the woman I'll know I'll meet
who speaks in the dialect
of unaware kindness
dresses in the clothes of realism
and sings in the key of smiling

for ropes for knots
bowline
single sheet bends
carrick bends
reef
anchor hitch

arteries around
this chamber of peace

FAIRY DANCE

FAIRY DANCE

And gaily dance we did, amidst the trees,
To enchanting fairy music, 'neat soft moonlight,
Until dawn's light called softly, on whispered breeze,
Then wearily we traipse home, to fairy fort, within.

Until once more, well rested from repose, soft starlight beckons,
and away we run to where our magic lives,
Then one by one, we dance the mystic dance,
Till all together joined, as flute and lyre, bewitch,

Beware the human ear, that hears our magic song,
For you are lost then, forever, to human kind,
And with us you must join,
a shrinking fairy to become, such as we.

Then dance you will, upon the moonlit moss,
Your dainty feet in keeping with the tune,
As the ancient tune, floats ghostlike through the trees,
Our melody, a fairy tune of calling, from beneath.

Flower of Mine

How soon this flower wilts and dies
You're gone but yet not forgotten
Here and there some still remember you
Your perfume lingers in the air
A memory sweet and poignant

Girl with Flowers

The girl with the flowers
Walked by
Her bouquet was small, pert
And pretty.
She stared off,
As she walked;
Nonchalantly -
Her fingers forming little spirals
With the ribbons on her bouquet.

Her hair was coloured
A bright Auburn red
She moved with the ease of
Few thoughts in her head
And as I watched her,
I realised with dread,
That the very sight of her
Made me feel dead.

The Power Of Our Imagination

The Power Of Our Imagination

In the night's eerie silence when eyes are devoid of light
The pupils dilate straining to match the menace of night

Shadowy lurkers cloud the mind and conjure such fear
Riotous run thoughts so deep when danger feels near

Rich imaginations can soar to astounding heights
Blazing in the mind with a flood of amazing sights

Where fireflies swarm and fairies show us the way
The night skies stars flickering in a dazzling display

Magnificent bejeweled golden fountains splashing
The mind's eye filled with every delight flashing

Worried melt and stress vanishes in everlasting peace
Lovers come and deliver that most blessed release

We can fly on the breeze like a feather floats on a sigh
Sailing ships and Dragons in the clouds floating by

The warm wet feelings as rain clouds shed their tears
The Angels singing bringing sheer pleasure to our ears

Vast endless fields of wild flowers drenched in the sun
The safety and love of our bed when the day is done

Lovers smiles to warm our souls forever in every way
To know the child's innocence among friends at play

To fly like a bird, by Superman, to an oasis paradise
Our imagination can transport us to any place nice

Vivid colorful dreams where our hearts enchantment can be
The power of our imagination can even set happiness free

About this poem:
Imagination is boundless and a new poem to try and get some of that down in words seemed a good idea for a topic. I don't think anyone will ever capture everything about our imagination, but I did like how this poem flowed.

cozy ?

T'is a cold and rainy night,
Wish I knew someone who might
Just want to cuddle tight -
and keep me warm.

A soft body would be fine,
In fact t'would be sublime
And I could spend all the time -
taken by her charms.

I would not want so very much,
It's just to have her gentle touch
To have her comfy and all such -
content in my arms.

Someone to feel a personal need,
And one to think maybe he'd
Be the answer to what she pleads -
he's there to keep her warm !

Sonnet La Forest

Am not alone in whom life seem forest
Condition abound in which diversion occur
With no other choice rather to concur
And give reverence to force in the highest

Once in forest to silence I observe
With sound of birds all in my ear
And wild predators all here and near
Thus my strength now all in reserve

Camping in forest to vigilante I remain
For erecting a tent now a work
And my survival now a luck
For I am inflicted with a means to contain

As obtain in forest so thus life
For all I thread is means to survive

The lion never sleeps

Cuddle by your warm fireplace
within your walled cities says
the mighty lion
Build you vinyards lavish with
the fruit of the ground
Watch your children play in the
warm breeze of life's summer
Regale your minds with the threadbare
wisdom of times gone by
Let the starry night sky be your
blanket of love
Yet listen for the sound of the hunter
in the black stillness of night
If you catch his scent it may be
to late
If the watchman slumbers he will
breach your walls on the wings
of hell
Take heed and watch for the hour
for.. the Lion never sleeps**

a flash before your eyes

maybe we should celebrate
tomorrow is the first day of celebration
how fortunate we are
to have even only that one thing that gives us joy
memories fade, material things lose their lustre
but that instance
the one etched into your mind
shall never pass
it is as much a part of you as hunger or thirst
for you feed on this moment
and there is no swell that you couldn't squelch
so that it might abide
and be with you
