FEAR

When fear taps on your shoulder, man-
don't turn around, because it can
and will get straight into your heart
to take you for a ride. The part
it's mostly interested in (your will)
it wants to grab and squeeze and chill-
to stop you in your tracks, my friend,
and while you're standing at the bend
unable for to move aside
your fear will take you for a ride
to places full of ghosts and such
were it can haunt you and do much
to sap away your soul and reap
what you have planted, while the heap
it leaves you in is worthless. Man-
just leave the bugger while you can...

Portals of Time

Passing through all these portals over time
Lying on the edge of consciousness rift
Swaying back and forth between stars we climb
To the center where both our souls will drift

Please give me back what will not float away
Become trapped in rings that orbit my core
Like holding a match to papier-mache
Cannon shots through sails of a 'man-at-war'

Once again my dreams be set free at sea
Cause only there seperates day from night
Sets our senses to some highest degree
The sunrise and sets in sweeteness and light

That all these portals of time passing through
Make many days blessed for me and you

About this poem:
Reflecting on what a "day" is...metaphorically of course.....in a sonnet for just the fun of it....why else?

Sight

To be able to see is great
I would not like no sight
to be unable to see
I can't imagine anything worse

Not to see the various seasons
each with its own beauty
only to feel the sunbeams
would be to miss the rays

To watch them as they dance
as they high light a shape
to watch the moon at night
silvery radiance cloaking earth

No I would not like no sight
for then I could not read
think of it, no poems or books
life would be utterly dearth

Celestial Dance

The sun and the moon bowed to each other
as they pass on their orbital routes
the stars did a heavenly dance of honour
the planets glistened bathed in deep purple

Mercury orbiting closest to the sun
fastest of all of the planets are you
Venus (twinned with Earth) the planet of love
lighten our hearts with your femininity

Earth our own planet only known source of life
Mars the red planet and bringer of war
Jupiter you are the jewel in the crown
we gaze at you breathless with wonder and awe

Uranus once known as Georgium Sidus
you are the enchanting ringed planet of beauty
Saturn, he languidly goes his own way
quietly, quietly just doing his duty

Neptune almost last but not least of the planets
you tip your trident, saluting the Sun
as all of our planets delight in celestial dancing
we watch hearts struck as they do their run

About this poem:
Pluto has recently been 'downgraded' to be a dwarf planet - and is thus not now usually included when listing the planets

The Gift: An Empty Box

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read and comment...
Gradually taking my poetry down whenever time allows..it's taking a bit longer that I planned though.

I haven't done any writing for sometime. Writing was my therapy when I was recovering from divorce!

I have been blessed and given another means to lighten my load... reaching out to as many people in the community as I can and I can honestly say I haven't been happier.

Maybe one day I'll take to my pen again, for now I'm just glad to have this opportunity to serve others!

God bless you...everyone of you!!!

About this poem:
I've seen many separate because they find it convenient to just say "we've just grown apart". That I think is just pathetically sad! I believe it all boils down to allowing themselves to fall into some kind of a rut...because if we do not stop treating our partners the way we treated them before we married them...if we do not stop trying to please, to respect, to surprise, to show we care, to make him/her the most especial part of our lives...I can't see "growing apart" ever having a chance on us.

Marriage needs refreshing, even re-styling...again and again to keep it's blood flowing. If we do nothing, if we become complacent and never try to put excitement or adventure in our marriages we are basically not creating any memories and experiences to deposit in our box...memories to hold the marriage together when ill winds come and bother... not creating moments to cherish together is a sure way to let boredom sets in and overcome our marriages.

In my eyes, it really is as simple as keeping a good hairstyle...it needs regular trimming, re-touching if you have colour with it, it may even need blow-waving now and then to get rid of the cobwebs in our lives. The hairstyle will not hold its shape all the time unless we put the effort to keep it looking as fab as the day we walked out of the salon...or in our marriages .... or relationships....the day after we walked on the aisle...

Physics vs Life's Drama

About this poem:
Newton's 3rd Law of Motion: "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

I am helping a boy labelled as disruptive at school...but while observing him the other day...he was only reacting to what the other kids do to him....unfortunately most of the times the teachers only hear the other kids crying or only see the boy grabbing things from other kids or pushing them away....they never bothered to question what the other kid has done for the boy to have reacted that way.

We are not much different from little kids..we only see the other's reaction...we never look at ourselves, neither do we bother to think, or try to understand or acknowledge the action that triggers the other to react.

This reminds me of Mothers Day...this year...the worst I've ever experienced...I believe I coped something that was triggered by an action / reaction phenomena. Life's unfair at times.

I Recall (monorhyme)

So Many special moments in my mind
for some of them I have really pined
remembering those I have left behind
I can recall with clarity those declined

Special places that became entwined
in the canvas of my mind now redefined
I revisit with glee places enshrined
and recall magical moments that unwind

Outlined in gold in my mind defined
I walk and recall the ones I refined
people lost with who I wish to rebind
recalling some for who I once repined

Our lives are full of memories, signed
and dated they rattle in the wind
flashing past so fast they become twined
and stay as I recall them all to my mind

Buck the Gunslinger (epic)

Buck was a tough man
very fast with his gun
always just one step
ahead of the law

He rode from town to town
never staying all that long
because as soon as word got out
the young gunslingers would come

Now Buck was not a man
to go looking for trouble
but it seemed that some how
it was his middle name

Really all he wanted to do
was marry his sweetheart
and raise a fine family
to live peacefully with them

He had a small hideaway
high up in the Rockies
a simple log cabin
where he could hole up

Not the place to take a bride
far too isolated and bare
talking to Betty he asked her
to purchase some land

Make it down in lush valley
he told her, we can raise cattle
a few horses to start a herd
maybe some hens and geese for eggs

Betty found a prime piece of land
with a cool bubbling spring
trees to shelter and give shade
sweet green grass to feed them all

Buck and Betty got married at last
soon built a fine house and barn
with a corral and stables
yet all too soon their bliss shattered

Young gunslingers heard where he was
dropping by to chance their luck
ending up in wooden coffins
because Buck was real fast

Until one day the townspeople
rode out to see Buck
they wanted him to be their sheriff
to protect them from the bandits

Buck agreed to wear the badge
and rid the town of the bad guys
each day he patrolled the territory
many baddies he lay to rest

Yet he felt he had no real peace
that his life was on borrowed time
he wanted to live his life quietly
tending to family and his ranch

This seemed a wistful thought
as still yet more gunslingers came
one day he knew he'd meet a faster gun
and end his life face down in dirt

One day while build a nursery he got
Betty to chop while he held the logs
well Betty missed and got his fingers
cutting them clean off only stumps left

It was his gun hand that was hurt
soon the word went around
the young guns stopped coming
no sport for them now

Buck finally got his dream
and lived to a ripe old age
siring five fine children
and many grandchildren

Against all the odds
he died quietly in bed
his last words to Betty were
"That was the best miss you ever made"

Dancing with the divine…

I find myself drawn to pen and paper, suddenly,
I have no idea why, but, I decide to give it a whirl and see what comes through…

I love you, I love you, I love you,
Is a refrain that has been drumming around in my cranium these days…,
Love who?
Love what?
I have no idea…

Aloneness has been a constant companion of mine for a couple of years now,
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m not lonely,
Heck, I’m surrounded by people,
Yet, I feel alone,
I feel as if I’m in a bubble, a reality that I’m loath to share with others, lest I seem like an eccentric[ha, ha, as if I already don’t have that label ],
Why just yesterday my intimate partner called me:-
A misanthrope, and Antisocial,
The funny thing is, I was not at all offended,
I just smiled at her, not self-righteously, ‘cause she’s kinda right,
Often the wounds of the past manifest themselves antisocially in me and quite misanthropically[id est, I have a vicious tongue, I don’t get physical, please, don’t misunderstand…, lol… ]…

I love you, I love you, I love you…
Where are you dear divine?
I love you…
Would you please draw closer to me?
I love you…
Would you please ease my pain?
I love you…
Would you please lighten my atmosphere?
I love you…
Would you please dance with me, dear divine?
I love you…
Would you?

I love you, I love you, I love you…

Transitions

I sat there, in that chair.
Waiting, watching, listening.
Every fiber of my being, alert.
Poised to jump, to respond, to be.

I lay there, in that bed.
Restless, worried, tossing.
Each moment ticking by, concerned.
Ready to fly, to move, to run.

I walked there, on that porch.
Stomping, screaming, yelling.
All of me hurting, pained.
Seeking to flee, to move, to laugh.

I stopped there, at that moment.
Still, calm, at peace.
My heart beating, amazed.
Knowing it is over, done, free.
