No Sound

As I lay here alone,
in the silence of darkness’
digital age, sans the ticking
of the clock to mark
the passage of time,
I am engulfed by
thoughts of you.

It was only yesterday
(or was it the day before?)
that you came into my life
unexpectedly.
Within the protection
of my sheltering walls,
I heard you, stirring.

Now, there is no movement
under the covers of darkness
as outside my window
winter’s cold and whiteness
blanket the ground, deep,
and muffle all sounds
except winter’s wind.

Yet, I remember well
arising from a fitful sleep
moving about the house
in search of sound’s origin.
Downstairs still adorned
with tree and lights
I ventured with eyes
and heart wide open.

Not finding that which stirred
sound-waves of awareness,
I boldly passed through
the portal to the next floor
down into the basement
where darkness carries
its own weight.

Turning to the left,
a shelved item seen
on the floor, out of place.
Though perplexed, I turned
to the right, opening
yet another door until
I reached you, waiting.

There you were
fluttering your wings
time and time again
trying to get outside
pressing the glass
with your body, dark
with iridescent sparkle.

As soon as I realized
your distress, wide
did I open the door to
winter’s whiteness and
called upon you to leave –
to return to the comfort
zone of your nature.

Trying first to calm your fears
usher you to and out
the outside door,
then, attempting to capture you
without causing injury or harm,
lovingly, clumsily,
I struggled with each task.

Closing each door behind
I moved carefully
to direct your flight
but drove you into a corner
filled with a box
of yesterday’s memories.
Cowering, you rested there.

Piled on the box were rolls
of paper for the walls
that were keeping you inside.
One-by-one, I removed, thoughtfully,
until you were completely
exposed in your handsome
beauty and vulnerability.

Now, with hand confident
in the knowing
did I brush you forward
out of the corner
into the room of light
toward the brightness
of the new day.

At first, disoriented
then having to choose
between warmth
and freedom
you did hesitate, lingering
on the hanger of an item, cleaned
ready for another day's wear.

Finally, after another
moment’s pause, you rose
spread your wings
and headed straight
to the open door
back into the whiteness
and cold of freedom.

So, here I am
once again alone
in the muffled silence
of this new season
thinking of you
and our encounter
and how close we came.

Persistence

I feel like a person engulfed in a bog
With no inclination to take myself off.
The bog is alluring, drawing me down,
In ruthless persistence I'm bearing down.

No one can arrive for the rescue of me,
I am the one who could get out and flee,
I am the one who could get myself clean
Out of this mire, should I have such scheme.

No such scheme, I prefer facing risk,
I know there is nothing to hold me adrift.
The bog will entice me in perilous grip,
I'm falling a victim of dangerous whim.

My love is enticing and bearing me down,
I've fallen its victim, I'll never get out.
I'll stay stupefied and forgetful of mind,
I'd rather I perished, if that is my price.

A Sermon From The Mount

I sit here on my steadfast horse
While the moon begins its nightly course
I'm riding nightherd, so I guess there's time
To reflect upon this life of mine.

My right leg is crooked over the saddle horn
As I wait for signs of the imminent morn'
It's not hard for a cowgirl's thoughts to dwell
Upon her Creator, and the Lord's words as well.

The wind carries the sound through the night air
Of the grazing remuda and the belled mare
My horse would like to join them, I can imagine
And I wish to be sleeping, like the others, by the wagon.

But, instead, I'm here, and wondering how
Any one who's ever worked with a cow
Could disbelieve that there is a God
Who put us upon this wonderful sod.

Isn't it amazing how an old mama cow
Will go off by herself, away from the crowd
And for the most part, calve out, without hardly coughing
Though we take it for granted, we see it so often.

What about those geese I saw fly by today?
Who tells them to fly southward, and which is the right way?
My horse's winter coat, now there's a strange thing,
Who tells him to shed it as winter turns to spring?

A cowboy might think and eclipse is a mystery
Though we've seen them any times through posterity
Ain't it something how the sun and moon have chartered courses?
How a mighty river springs from the smallest mountain sources?

This manger scene before me reminds me of my Savior's birth
And God had given His only Son to die for all of earth
I may never understand it all, I can only believe
Just as I'll never quite savvy how a spider learns to weave.

My horse stomps his forefoot, and chomps at the bit
Our job tonight is over and I'm glad of it
I believe there is a God, if my opinion you would count
And I hope you will pardon...this sermon on my mount.

Soul pain

Eagle spirits fall to the ground
Dream wings cannot fly
Dark talons pierce the soul
The heart languishes in hells nest
A shrill cry of despair echo's
through life's canyon..
'Oh, how the mighty have fallen..!'

THE WITCHES MIST

THE WITCHES MIST

Few had made his heart sing,
but she was a choir of angels,
that fond face, that peered through the mist,
capturing his heart.

But mist is a subtle thing,
weaving, and floating, settling , and lifting,
and she was all these things to him,
wrapping him in her misty heart.

But alas, her gentle mist suddenly drifted,
slowly releasing him, from her damp embrace,
and floated off ghost-like to haunt elsewhere,
leaving him wretched with despair, for her mist.

The Abyss..of Desire

Take a journey
to the heart
of desire

Into the abyss
of passions
fire

Through waves and
waves of liquid
love

Steaming up daydreams
miles above

Through swirling
currents
of uncharted
regions

Your soul is
snatched by
passions legions

Through a web of
cracks does
reason seep

Violently
tossed in this
breathless deep

This eternal fire
is ever burning..

This Heart of Desire
is ever Yearning..

Shall We Play??????

Open these pages
if you dare
but heed my warning
please beware
for inside
you’ll find buried there
thoughts to make your mind aware
with tales of love
and dark despair

Angel

I once knew an angel;
Girl I need to tell you this
for you may think that angels,
are creatures full of bliss
Let me tell you sweetheart,
they are not like that
Confused down here; in disarray;
more like an alley cat

Sweet as sugar when we met,
innocence portrayed
Inside, hidden from my view,
something quite depraved
Her beauty so ethereal;
I never could describe
But that was human beauty,
not her other side

Was she here for a reason;
That I will never know
unlike our dreams of angels
pure as driven snow
Thought I'd be in heaven;
instead we entered hell
Never thought an angel,
would know it quite so well

I once knew an angel girl,
Let me tell you this
If we ever meet again,
I'll beg for one more kiss

Temptation

Languid puma flexes
No trace of city stress
Flared; short; oh so hot
Red the mini dress
Offerings tempting
Urgent buttock bare
Desert heat
No relief
Magnificent sweet peaches there
Jazz delights
Perfect sights
Swirl of skirt
Flash of white
Innocence betrayed by light
Temptation clawing
Touch those perfect curves
Another dance
Another chance
Epiphany observed
Languorously sensual
Tarantella teasing
Bright white thong in buried bliss
Begs a predatory kiss

Leavings

Whore without a heart of gold
night hung quietly arrogant
Among the trees an icy breeze
rabid as some mad disease
flaunting and how decadent
an anxious mother seeking
In mad delight
bequeathed twilight
a charnel house of reeking
So
I sit and shiver
as elegance betrayed the day
one final chance that come what may
an arrow from the quiver
of shaking hand won’t understand
the damage in its aiming
Virgin’s blood on withered thighs
will reconcile the maiming
Can you
Delighted
An avid birthday child
just once assuage the burning rage
within me running wild

Capitals

Canyon deep those glassine walls
reflecting in the light recalls
the shattered dreams of those who dared
Alas; the city never shared
and beaten now they slink away
midst memories of better days

Through all this; the city
Urgent; seething
without pity
reaches with its silken ties
to change before more hopeful eyes

Promises of wealth and riches
buried innocent with glitches
tossed in there in purest spite
to the cities mad delight

Temptations offered
some refused
others horribly abused

Effortless the city lies
strengthening those silken ties
turning them to hardened steel
‘til the nightmares
somehow real
with joy
grasp enraptured minds
happy dreams now left behind

So innocence is truly lost
city grows
at what a cost

To Live

To Live is a blessing we take for granted
how often does one pause and enjoy
the simple things yet intricately made
splendorous beauty of hollyhocks bowing

Stop, look and think, study your surrounds
think of how each thing you see counts
how each relies on other things to survive
open your eyes and instead just take it in

Don't think of negatives, be positive
never live for tomorrow or the past
treat each day afresh and full of wonder
just be joyous that you are alive and live life

The Keys To The Universe

Somewhere in this universe...
Lies several sets of keys...
Keys that can open doors...
Revealing all the unseen...

Somewhere in this galaxy...
Beings lie in between...
Finding all unbelieved...
Finding all the lost keys....

If there was ever a time...
That time would be now...
If there was ever a place...
That place would be here...
If there was ever a chance...
I cry cause it's lost...
I would manipulate time if I could just to find you....

Because I love you I..

I bid you not perish
in the dust
Because I love you I've entertained
your mind with things lovely
I've wrapped time and space around
your delicate affections and protected
you from dark matter
Energy is the key and the sustaining force
within your flickering consciousness
You are saved by the sounds of truth because
'wisdom is justified by all her children.. '
Sleep not.. fall not into mindless blackout
A great city will appear and we shall feast
in the city of light
