4th

what then been painted behind child's eye
as streams burn bright through colored sky
lighting heavens high
to commemorate are common tie
as people born from liberty's thigh
raised on milk of freedoms cry

Happy July 4th 2014

Gracefully, the end of one thing
marks the beginning of another.
To this side and across the pond,
greetings are sent from sister
to each sister and brother.

Take Two: Travel - A Challenge

Travel Challenge Anyone???

I've been posting here for more than three years now maybe longer. This was my Shangrila and am sure the same to most. That changed when I met my husband, I found a Shangrila a real one in his heart and mind...and intend to keep it that way. I've made Mackay my home...and for reasons beyond my control at this point I am anchored, pretty much grounded...Under-wrap so to speak while work is in progress. I have spent a lot of time in hangars in the past and I have likened my current state to a wingless Airbus or a Boeing 747 grounded for maintenance;-)

I was born, brought up and moulded with an itchy feet and an insatiable yearning for adventure. I am a sucker of all things open spaces, green and brown and in between... spectacles of this wonderful thing called Nature!

With technology and internet at hand We can whisk each other across the globe. If we can fall in love without touching each other or not knowing if we've fallen for a scammer...no reason why we can't travel. How good would it be to travel without lifting our butts or needing passports to cross international borders and most of all without spending bucks...

Unsure of how each of you will react but this friend of yours is eager to find out if you'd care to join me travel around by sharing your favourite place in mind. Your Numero Uno place to go to. The one place that leaves in your heart. Or where you long to go all year round. If it takes your breath away, it'll take mine without a doubt! So take me, take us with you as you make your way!

NB: I've been thinking about this a long time. I knew if I just wait someone will put the challenge out. But so far none has come up with it and I am considering of maybe leaving PC indefinitely to focus on the home front and for my own sanity. I have started a blog for my poetry...I hope you'll come and visit me there one day when the page is ready.

I thought I should give this a go just in case there are others like me who has dreams of seeing places they know they might never see. Sometimes there are reasons we can't travel ... Time, finances, health, family and many more...and maybe just far too many in our bucket lists...so why not go there virtually, it's the next best thing I think.

Just to see how far we can go... Rather than just posting your individual poems, please return to this post once you have posted and leave us the link to your poem so people reading this can be linked to it...Thanks you for participating

About this poem:
The mission is for us to be transported from our desk, living room or bedroom to a place we haven't been. Accompanying visuals and images most desirable and most welcome! And if you'd rather create a video to go with it..even better.

Thank you once again... I'd like to see what everyone thinks... Keeping my fingers-crossed...

Easter poem

for in the dawns light
the women had come to dress the body in wight
but behold
for upon the stone an angel foretold
that he was no longer here
within was only an empty bier
then he said
to the tears which they shed
go fourth and tell the disciples
that he has risen

A Bit Of This And That

A Bit Of This and That

Since early childhood he had been wandering the world
vast treks completed mainly on foot, some like in days of old
walking in the footsteps of Stanley and listening to tales told
of safari's into the depths of the dark continent there finding gold
crossing over the towering escarpment lighting fires against the
cold
huddling together sharing a self caught meal, settling down in fold
then onwards deeper finding an elephants grave yard, tusks already sold
their bones litter the valley, stark white bleached by the sun, some have mould
picked over by jackals and hyenas, who now the lions have departed grow bold
finding diamonds lying sparkling on the ground. Then onward to travel the world

Easter Eggs

You start with cold water in a pan
Add your eggs carefully
Cover the eggs with water about an inch above all the eggs
Bring the eggs to a boil and remove from the heat
Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 15 minutes
Take the eggs and put them in cold water till cooled
Drain the eggs and let them dry on a towel for about an hour
Put the eggs in the fridge
The next day you get six coffee cups
Put some vinegar in the bottom, about 1/4 inch deep
Take food coloring and add to each cup to get desired colors
Add water to each cup so eggs will be completely covered
Red, Yellow, Blue
Red and Yellow to get Orange
Yellow and Blue to get Green
Red and Blue to get Purple
A total of about 24 drops per cup
You can add different amounts to get different colors
22 drops of yellow and three drops of red gives you an orange sunset
Put eggs into dye for four minutes
Move the eggs around with Paas wire egg dipper
Let dry for an hour
There are some different ways you can dye eggs
Put rubber bands around egg
Dye half the egg in one color and half in the other color
Draw egg with crayons before dying
Put stickers on eggs before dying to create shapes on eggs
Use a plastic bowl you can throw away and add water
Use different colors of fingernail polish to water
Move them around with a toothpick
Add an egg to get a swirly pattern onto the egg
Eat the eggs up within a week after coloring
Enjoy!

About this poem:
Colored my Easter eggs yesterday. Enjoy making them every year. I get a Betty Jane hollow bunny every year with Peeps, Cadbury eggs, and jelly beans. When I was a child I would save my chocolate bunny in the freezer and shave off some of the chocolate with a knife to make it last a long time.

Eastertime

Spring in my step
So soft to the touch
Hug me and squeeze me
You love me as much

I love to be tickled
I find it so funny
But gently my master

I'm just a wee-little-Bunny...

One More Candle

Make a wish, make a wish
I know my heart have the list
Close your eyes, raise a pray
Thanking God for this blessing day

Sing the song, fill up the air
My beloved friends are here to share
Blow the candle, now you stare
The bright future just like a flare

sky dipped ocean

Blue sky beautiful transparent sun the wind blows through the life as the seagulls dance in the sky dipped ocean.the water as pure as rain.the kids swimming about and having fun.as the smell of fires come our way.then from day into night. Sleeping under beautiful stars kids counting sheep as parents sneak off into there own sky dipped ocean.then as the morning comes everyone stands in the shallow staring into the water so deep.its time to say goodbye to the sky dipped ocean.as tears fall and it starts to rain. Everyone runs till next year we had so much fun.
