What I Got For Christmas

Packer's Hat
25 Dollar Gift Card to Texas Roadhouse
15 Dollar Gift Card to Millinneum Cinema
Framed Picture
2020 Calendar
Three Microwavable Bags of Popcorn
Ms Pacman Mini Arcade Game

My favorite gift still sits in my bathroom. A stereo with record player, cassette player, and 8-Track player. The 8-Track player still works after having it since 1982.

About this poem:
I have gotten many gifts over the years. I wore my sister's gift of a Galena Golf Club shirt on Christmas since she and her whole family didn't show up for Christmas. It would have added 19 people to the celebration. It was just me and a friend, my mom and brother, and my nephew who wouldn't join us as his dad was mad at him for not getting a job for over five years now.

King of Christmas * Shadow's Challenge *

My wishlist for Christmas?...That Christ lives within us...
Though I am a bit saddened, my sins have worn thin...
Therein lies the truth, how could truth be a lie?
It can't, it's within, every pore of His skin....

Soylent Green

Soylent Green
It's People!
And it's delicious!
We take only the finest people to make our Soylent Green wafers
They look like Triscuits
but they have all the nutrition you need
When you're on the go and just don't have time to cook a meal
Soylent Green taste really good
For a meal or just a snack
You'll love em!
From Nabisco

About this poem:
I was watching Soylent Green with Charlton Heston and thought of a commercial for these wafers set in the year 2022, about three years from now. In the movie, New York City has a population of 40 million people. Tokyo has the largest metropolitan population at 32 million, New York City has a metropolitan population of 19 million people.

Thanksgiving Day

Made all the food ahead of time
Just throw it on a plate and microwave it
Started out with green bean casserole
Moved onto mashed potatoes and campbell's brown gravy
A little cranberry sauce while I watch Astronaut Snoopy
Spongebob balloon and many others
All flying close to the ground because of high winds
I get a call from Mom while I'm eating turkey
My nephew wants to eat Chinese, but they're closed
Only McDonald's is open
So Mom says they will figure something out later
I tell her I have to eat right now so I eat at Mickey D's
When I get there she says they're going to McDonald's
Which I had already done
So I find out the reason they want to eat in Platteville
Is because my nephew is wanted by the law in Iowa
Meanwhile his son wants some real turkey at his mom's in Cassville
His don't want to work dad can't drive him because of his three DWIs
So I go from that mess and visit my Dad at the nursing home
While he sleeps, I watch TV and play Press Your Luck on my Nintendo DS
I drive home and play games and watch The Office Christmas reruns
Have some more Thanksgiving food and call it a day
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Christmas Shopping in November

I have always done my Christmas shopping early
Some may say I'm kinda squirrely
They love to shop on Thanksgiving and Black Friday
I say no way!
Get all that materialism out of the way early
So you can avoid a bunch of bargain hunter who behave too surely
I went yesterday on November first
To avoid all those people who behave the worst
Thanksgiving should be a day off for all
Not another reason to go to the mall
Some people never get a day off
Working seasonal jobs even if they have to cough
To give presents to some relatives they see only once a year
Getting together with people, if they weren't related, they'd steer clear
So now that I'm done with all the present buying
I can focus on things that won't leave me crying
Like Christmas movies and shows like Alf's Turkey In The Straw
About Alf befriending a homeless man who steers clear of the law
Or good food like turkey and pumpkin pie
And Peppermint Patty chewing out Charlie Brown
While he stand there with a sigh
It's more fun when we're not trying to save a buck
And if we do it right, we'll be in luck
For a Thanksgiving and Christmas that will be filled with joy
I hope yours is also one where you can say "Oh Boy!"
May all your holidays be shiny and bright
So we can all have a silent night

"Don't be sad"

Here goes.
A race on toes.
To a place I don’t know.
Travelling under darkness and the sun’s glow.
To a land with the taste of foreign words.
Dress myself with the color of ferns.
Throw away cares and concerns.
Soar high, dance over clouds like a rebel bird
Be a new member of a different herd.
I’ll send you a post card.
So don’t be sad!

Easter Traditions

Watch Peter Cottontail
Color eggs
Eat chocolate bunny starting at feet
Leave in freezer and scrape some chocolate off so it lasts for months
Eat chicken Peeps, malted eggs, chocolate eggs, and jellybeans
Leave the green, white, and black jellybeans
Go to church and hear the people say "crucify him" and I don't say it
Also on Palm Sunday you get a palm reed
You take it home and make a work of art out of it and let dry and save
Eat deviled eggs and hard boiled eggs on Easter
Watch The Ten Commandments
Watch HOP
Eat with family
Enjoy your Easter!

Silent walk

Heat of the sun
The motion of the water laps the sandy beach
Cool breeze
The heat envelopes ones senses
The gentle breeze
Blows within the trees
Sound of quite tone
Fills ones ears
One is at peace
As one walks the waters edge
Bare foot water laps the feet cooling chilling
One walks the waters edge

New Years Resolutions 2018

Be 165 pounds
Love people for who the are
Win the Lottery
Forgive my enemies, friends, family, and myself
Drink only two pops a week
Read one hour a day and exercise one hour a day
Visit my friends once a week
Fly out to California and road trip to Redwoods National Park
Get a job where I can look forward to going to work
Juggle outside once a week
Get an electric bike
Appreciate the time I have with my friends, family, and coworkers
Eat fruits and vegetables every day
Cook at home four times a week
Write at least five times a week in my journals
Worry less, a lot less
Forget about the past
Live and Love

~ A Christmas Ring ~

~ A Christmas Ring ~

Wish upon your Christmas Tree

Maybe it will come true

A ring around your Finger

Would it be just right for you?

A Christmas Tree wish for Connecting Singles

Wishing that wish comes true!

Does he know your size and what to say or do

A Christmas ring will bring you happiness

When you hear him say!

Will you be his girl forever, on this Christmas day

Give him love and affection

From your loving heart

~ You will live and love together and never, never part ~

Merry Christmas
Rings on her fingers
Bells on her toes

Will he give her a ring this Christmas
Only heaven knows!
