Soylent Green

Soylent Green
It's People!
And it's delicious!
We take only the finest people to make our Soylent Green wafers
They look like Triscuits
but they have all the nutrition you need
When you're on the go and just don't have time to cook a meal
Soylent Green taste really good
For a meal or just a snack
You'll love em!
From Nabisco

About this poem:
I was watching Soylent Green with Charlton Heston and thought of a commercial for these wafers set in the year 2022, about three years from now. In the movie, New York City has a population of 40 million people. Tokyo has the largest metropolitan population at 32 million, New York City has a metropolitan population of 19 million people.

The Snake Pit

Carved my three pumpkins
T-rex, Princess Leia, and Alien
Now I am going golfing around 11:30
#6 has a grave yard to the left of the fair way
If you hit one in you leave it
Then around 3:30 I leave for my mom's
I call it the Snake Pit
This may be the last year there for Trick or Treating
I got a call from my sister saying she wants to put mom in a home
Mom has dementia as well as a grandson who has drained her savings
There is nothing left to pay the bills
I turned them down when they asked me for money
I had already paid a third of my Dad's funeral which was about three grand
So will she let me stay and give out candy or send me packing?
All I can do is try
Try once again to survive The Snake Pit!

About this poem:
My sister is doing basically what we did to Japan in 1945, getting revenge for neglect of her and her children and grandchildren by taking mom out of her home and away from her grandson and greatgrandson, and her great granddaughter, when she is brave enough to visit.

July 4

My last two karaoke songs were sung by George Michael
Freedom and Freedom 90
When I think of the fourth of July I think of freedom
Free to be who I am without judgement
Free to go outside without fearing for my safety from thugs and cops
Free to see a doctor or a dentist without financial ruin
Free to live in a house
Free to sleep without waking up too early
The songs deal with relationships
The first doesn't want freedom, all he wants is that special lady
The other freedom to have equal give and take in a relationship
Not always have to be the one always giving while the other just takes
When I was a kid it was about the fireworks
I am going to buy some today
I thought the song Afternoon Delight was about fireworks too
But as I have gotten older from 1976 when I was only six
It is about a good relationship
Where you can always look forward to some sky rockets in flight

A song of mystical beauty

The silence,
delicately woven in the still night,
as i walk along the stream.
Generous tidings of moonlight,
filtered gleam through the stream,
catching the stars of naked trout,
twillight when striked,
moths chosen height,
spirals to the sound of the grasshoppers hymn.
In the spirits thirst,
staring at my feet,
Laughter in the stream,
forgotten the ruefull tunes of life.

summertime stories and past glories

The summer sky a darker shade of blue
vivid colors almost a world brand new
the smell off blossoms looming promise
of excitement filled the air
close your eye's and you are there
music coming from all around
an upbeat tempo a happy sound
children laughing just down the street
laying in the shade to escape the heat
lazy days spent lounging in the lawn counting
lady bugs and picking flowers
the beautiful afternoon thunder showers
the smell of the rain on the hot pavement
makes me think about when I was a kid
about my summer breaks and all the crazy things
we did
before they should the leaves start to fall
as summer whispers it's last call

About this poem:
It seems the seasons have been going by so fast for me lately, another summer wrapped up in a hot pink bow *lol*. This kind of poetry is usually not my style I seem to like my deep and thought provoking angsty stuff better, but that's just me I guess.

Trip To Paris

I open my door
I hop on a bus then a train
I cross the channel by ferry
in france i stand and look around

the effel tower wow what a view better even from the top
looking down what a drop
people here there running around tiny people all can be found
from my view from the top

I sight see looking around
I wander around paris in a dream ,places to find
My eyes open to the places around
The arc the triumph i like best

Notra Dame Cathedral i like best oh what majestic view it offer to you
Sailing on the river siene, oh what a view looking out at things we can Do places to rest and time to chill have a drink and admiire the view
I drink my champange resting seating admiring the views ill think
I will come here again.

Thanksgiving Dinner

I had a dinner at friends' for Thanksgiving.
The turkey was quite moist and very tastey too.
The mashed potatoes with just a little butter would be forgiving.
Sweet potatoes glazed and not. I should check out the two.
Just one bun with butter. The rye bread should be good for me.
Carrots and green beans so very healthy also.
A heap of stuffing as I don't want to offend you see.
A chunk of ham will compliment don't you just know
Oh look pickles, several kinds. I think 6 will suffice..
Pickled cauliflower I must remind myself of the flavour
Oh of course cranberry sauce to add zing. Surely not a vice.
A glass of wine and an apperatif will go down very well if I just savour.
Pumpkin pie and a tea or what would Thanksgiving be.
I give thanks for family, food and friends
But most of all I give thanks to the last adequate sufficiency.
The several antacid pills I used finally at the end.
