Halloween Challenge Reply

May the ghosts that rise to meet you
Just be the kids from down the street
May all the monsters at your door
Be there to trick-or-treat
May the eerie glow
You see at night
Be jack-o'-lanterns grinning

And, above all,
Hope the day is happy-
Right from the beginning!

A Cute Boo-time Halloween Poem :)

Bats love the nighttime
And witches love to brew...
Ghosts like to haunt things
And holler out BOO!!!

But me?
I just love thinking about Y-O-U!

Christmas Quandary

'TWAS A WHILE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

'Twas a while before Christmas
For me and my spouse.
She searched all the catalogs,
And I scrolled the mouse.

We're looking for something
That we thought would do,
As great Christmas presents
For each of you.

Try as we did
'twas not to avail,
Though all of the stores
Had wonderful sales.

Yet - just before Christmas
We're still with all doubts,
As to what sort of gifts
We are thinking about.

We pondered and stewed
About what we could do,
To find the right thing
That would suit you.

What if it's something
That you'd never use,
Or - 'cause you have it-
What could we choose?

It's such a dilemma,
It's caused much concern,
We wanted it personal,
And not for return.

The decision - quite taxing,
We're at our wits end,
Please don't be offended -
With something to spend.

Turkey

Don't eat me!
Eat something else
How about some tasty venison
You are going deer hunting today
They cause a lot of car accidents
How many turkeys have caused injury?
None that I know of!
We want to be free
We don't want to be stuffed
This Thanksgiving tradition needs to stop
There's plenty to eat without me anyways
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Stuffing
Pumpkin Pie
Cranberry Sauce
Green bean casserole
And sweet potatoes
Give turkeys a break and have a happy Thanksgiving!

About this poem:
Celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday by deboning a turkey today. It is the only time I buy a real turkey. The rest of the year I just buy it in a package already formed into thin slices.

Silent Dreams

Its Christmas time and there’s no need to be afraid
An amazing line of a song
From a time when people came together and changes were made
We all watched our screens together we sat totally engaged
We all came together sitting and watching we were enraged

The plight of the people and the tears and screams
The horrific pictures across the world they beamed to our screens
A human cry for help
A voice to those who previously only had silent dreams

We pledged our help
We shared our small bit of wealth
We looked at ways to campaign and we raised
We did all this together so we could send aid

We did this because we believed
We believed times would change
We believed that all life’s essentials
Never again be out of any human’s range

There’s a world outside your window
It is a world of dread and fear
It is a world invisible to our eyes
And when it shouts out we tend not hear

It might snow in Dublin this Christmas time
If not, it will be cold
As we wind down on Christmas eve night
In the warmth of the glow from our Christmas tree lights
We go to our beds and rest our heads
Waiting for Santa to leave presents at the bottom of beds

There’s a world outside your window
It is a world of dread of fear
The only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
The Christmas bells will ring but they will not bring cheer

It might snow is Dublin this Christmas time
They may not get a gift this year
From side streets and shop door ways
They are all potential homeless graves
Christmas night thank god, it’s them instead of you

Remember a time when we all came together
Maybe we can share instead of pretending the problem is not there
A little happiness can replace despair
Tears of sadness can be replaced by a happy face
The smallest gift the smallest donation
Can give the homeless of Ireland a Christmas to remember

The Feast

The devil sets the table every day
A huge feast of the best foods you can imagine
Steak and lobster
Chicken breasts and French fries covered in cheese and bacon
Pizza with sausage, pepperoni, green olives and mushrooms
Cheese burgers and tacos
Chinese food and barbeque ribs
All of this and more
More than anyone could eat
Only
You have to use a four foot long fork
Only this utensil can be used to eat
The devil laughs at the people
He laughs at them starving in front of all the food they could ever want
In heaven the same feast is prepared every day
The same rule applies
You have to use a four foot long fork
Everyone gets plenty to eat
Because they have learned to feed each other
Just like they did when they were alive
The people in hell only helped themselves when they were alive
It would never dawn on them to feed each other
That is their curse
And that is why they are in hell

About this poem:
I was watching Ms. Scrooge and heard this story told by a preacher. It is a retelling of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. My favorite retelling of this story is Bill Murray's Scrooge.

It's A Wonderful Life

So George Bailey had a meeting with Mr. Potter
Potter offered to pay him 20,000 dollars a year for three years
In todays dollars that would be about 400,000 a year
So George went home to his wife and asked her if he should take the deal
Her reply was, "Are you kidding? Of course I want you to take the job!
You go back first thing the next morning and tell Mr. Potter
You may be a scurvy old spider, but you're a scurvy old spider
That's gonna give me 20,000 a year!
Goodbye Bedford Falls!
Hello Pottersville!
Uncle Billy went to insane asylum shortly after that
And Clarence the angel second class remained an angel without his wings
And Mr. Potter had the best Christmas an old scrooge ever had
The end

About this poem:
I thought of this a long time ago. In a way Mr. Potter never really comes to face any bad consequences for stealing the 8,000 dollars from forgetful Uncle Billy.

Christmas Wish List

Donald Trump actually being a good president
Job security
Not being afraid any more
No more homelessness
No more people yelling at other people
Santa bringing presents to all people of the world
My family together in peace
Healthy people
Free health care
A new car
A house out in the country
A golf cart
Someone to go skiing and golfing with
My own plane and the ability to fly it myself
A dog and a cat
An end to war everywhere
No drug use that harms others
Women to be respected everywhere
A billion dollars
Santa and Rudolph to be real
The music to be as good as it was in the 80's
Love

Mum..

For all the things that you do for me,
For being my rock and crutch,
For always caring and believing,
For loving me so much,

Through all the mistakes and ups and downs,
You've always been by my side,
For showing me how to live and love,
For being my council and guide,

My conscience, values and principles,
All the goodness that I possess,
These gifts that you've taught and shown,
I'm able to honour and express,

On this day and every day,
I'll always be your loving son,
Thank you for each and everything,
Thank you for being my mum.....
