Ripped

Marks are mine
Bad things to change
The ups n downs
Always wanted a sail
Ripped through the lane
Ripped far and wide
Ripped like the beggars
Ripped from my pride
Erase and a pause
Followers applaud
King to Queen
Queen to King
Dust on the fabric
I'm there in heart.

CHRISTMAS

As Christmas time comes once again
we think of family and recall old friends.

Our thoughts turn to feasting and presents to give
of time spent rejoycing and the good life we live.

But not of the person who is cold and alone.
Who now has no family or a place to call home.

Who is thankful to find a warm place to sleep.
And in one small pack all their possessions can keep.

Who while we are singing, toasting all near and far
lay shivering in alleys or perhaps an old car.

Men, Women and Children are all in this plight,
who dread each new day and fear each new night.

While God and His Angels look down from above.
Wondering what happened to His gift of LOVE.

About this poem:
I work with homeless people every single day. Sometimes there are success stories,, sometimes your heart gets torn out, but through it all are the children, battered women who have no out and those who genuinely just need a break. Please don't forget them.

Dear Santa, Dysfunctionally

Dear Santa,

I know it's only November, but damn
Things aren't quite straight around here
I don't ask for a lot
And I know you don't usually bring much for me
So this year maybe I thought I could...
Call in a few favors.

First, if you could make dad drink from the cans
Instead of those big glass bottles
He seems to act a lot nicer that way
Sometimes he'll even play catch with me

And bring a bunch of stuff for my mom, too
Because she's always having stuff delivered to the house
And when dad finds out there are delivery men here all the time
Boy, does shit ever hit the fan

Maybe too, you could bring something for my sister
I'm not sure what, but anything will probably do
She's usually in worse trouble than I am it seems
Between boys and smoking and whatever she stays out until 2AM for

Me, well, maybe a couple A's on my report card
It's not that I'm not smart enough, its just that
Its so hard to pay attention to math or english
When there are so many other exciting things in the world

Sincerely,
Little Billy Walker

What A Day

What A Day

It all started when I woke up this morning
There was a cat in my bed
What’s that I said?
A cat named Fred
Was in my bed.
Then the cat named Fred
Hopped out of my bed
And chased a rat
And sat on the mat
And that’s that

I SAW A LITTLE butterfly

I saw a little butterfly
And he was ever so high
Up in the sky.
Then I saw a bunny rabbit
And I tried to grab it.
Then I saw a frog
Sitting on a log
I gave it a poke
And it gave a croak.

HALLOWEEN IS HERE NEXT WEEK

Halloween is coming
Yippee Yippee
And its only one week away
Hooray Hooray
And ghosts will give you a scare
Wooooooo Wooooooo
Witches will be on their brooms
Ha Ha Ha Ha
Skeletons will rattle their bones
Rattle Rattle Rattle
All of the doors creaked closed
Creeeeeek Creeeeeek

Children of the Not Very Merry

Christmas comes on jingle-bell feet
tinkling all over my morning paper;
but middle-class wolves howl
at my door, lurking and raping my mood.

In a outraged of head-shake denial
and of wondering;
why do I have to think of that now?

When, I've got to get to Big Lots
finish all my x-mas shopping
and arrange a babysitter
for the party tonight.

When, I've got cabin fever
and a howl rising in me!

When, I want to be pretty arm candy
and hold mistletoe kissing contests,
don't burn me now Santa.

The list goes on and on....

until I finally realize;
I need to be more grateful
for my haves, instead of pissed off
about what I haven't got.

If greed is need, then I'm
in pretty sorry shape no
matter the seasons reasons.

Rock-a-by, child of God, rock-a-by.

Do you care?

Yuletide Carols

Harvest done,
And frost is here
The snow is falling,
Falling heavy,
White comfort
Windy, cold,
Wood in a barrow,
Fire burning,
Winter carol,
Blizzard blowing,
Blowing hard
Winter wailing,
Music in the eves,
Yuletide carols,
Mistletoe and wreathes,
Proserpine is in decline,
Hades is her home,
Leaving snow and
Sol Invictus,
Seasons stirring
In a wintry bowl,
Yuletide carols
Whispers of antiquity
Birthing spring,
The dove on wing
Songs of hope in
An icy clime,
Seasons turning,
Turning on a dime,
Time is fleeting,
Fleeing, seeking,
Eternity of mind.

Christmas Poem.....with a thought...

Wine and turkey….
Log and Puddings…
Warmth from the fire..
Laughter….
Sure looks good from out here….

I tighten my tattered coat...and wonder
Where would I fit the Christmas Tree…?
In this cardboard box…
I call my Home

4 days before Christmas

It's four days before Christmas
and all through the land
singles are surfing
as fast as they can.

Being alone on Christmas
is not a good thing.
Because when you're lonely
Christmas bells just don't ring.

So I wish everyone
a Christmas of cheer,
peace, hope and love
and a Happy New Year.

Lighting the Way

Holiday lights color
December moments.
Their primary colors glow
through the darkness -
yet cannot compete
with the brightness of stars
that shine and self-consume
in their passion to ignite
direction to weary travelers.

Each bulb on the
Christmas string burns
with such low intensity
it cannot kindle the most
delicate branch to blaze -
yet, year after year, attempts
to mimic nature in a twinkling show
of presence, and perhaps substance,
in a world trying to find its way.

About this poem:
I love this season…a cause to ponder meaning within creation, including what we create and celebrate. While recognizing the illuminary icons that lighted our path to the present and those who lead us into the future, we should not underestimate the power of our own efforts to get others as well as ourselves through the darkness of life's winters into the light.

Merry Christmas everyone

I pray your day will be happy
I pray that no one is alone.
I pray you'll be with friends and family
or at least talk with them on the phone.

I pray your new year will be brighter.
I pray true love comes your way.
I pray bad memories are forgotten
and God walks with you everyday.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
