Time.

Today is in the sunset
Tonight is in the past
The days go by so slowly
Though the years go by so fast

So believe me when I tell you
Nothing at all can last

The problems of tomorrow
Will quickly pass you by
There is no point of worrying
No reason for you to cry.

Now wont be around for long
As sure as all things die.

Paint your dreams with colour
And tomorrow will be fun
Give your soul to today
For a new place in the sun

Time will give you all you need
And Karma will be done.

The road to Killybegs

Last drinks in Ballyshannon
'fore we set out for Killybegs
for the fishin's fine
in Killybegs
for me 'n Seumas
and on the road
he is humming
sweet songs from Aengus
for it is the want of Lir
to have us sea driftin'
safe from the Morrígan
and banshees
on the road
and there now
the little lights
of Donegal

SNAP JUDGEMENT

Milan Springtime
Twilight

From my window
I see four men
formally suited
with raised fists
and open mouths

My camera is set

One finger prods one shoulder
one foot advances
I ‘CLICK’.

All those in the street
have turned towards them
as their song
graces the early evening.

Cheers mate

That's ma word
Give thanks
I give thanks for you
And you and you and you
And yes you too
And oh yes, giving thanks for me too
This thanks more than just a positive vibration
This thanks bursts banks of any negative situation
So
Thank you very much
Yes indeed
Gratitude unlocks n blossoms the seed
Can't stop the weed
From mingling n lingering
Nurture the seed so the weed won't be hindering
Thank you for the weed
Thank you for the flower
Thank you for every second minute n hour
Thanks is power
Lika bulletproof vest
I care it n wear it so nut'n can test
Though they always try
I
Give thanks for the test too
The energy of this thanks literally breeding skies blue
All I can say is thank you

Speculations

Now my love, a little bit co-mingles;
In that wide and deep digital sea;
I'm just another guy - Connecting Singles;
Is enough social media for me.
My heart is lonely - yet my body tingles;
With some love past, or future destiny;
As through the clouds, I see the Moon break cover;
And I wish and hope for a new lover.

My wide reflection on a life been lived;
In a dozen ways, with many people;
I've always found - yet never could forgive;
The aloof side of me - just like a steeple;
And these lines of verse that will survive;
Myself, and so unlike many sheeple;
I'll write my life, as best as I remember;
Gee, to think it is already now December!

Twenty twenty-one - how Time does race!
And no love I've had, since 'twas Covid;
The world has changed, has changed its very face;
(Although I don't intend to be this morbid);
So where is love, amidst this new disgrace?
Where's love in my poems? - I'd write "ibid"
Which means "look above" (at older Poetry);
Now I'm fifty-three, nothing happens, and I'm lonely.

Shortly to my story - I digress;
In speculation purely metaphysical;
I let in a little light, to now ingress;
Into the darker shadows of the mythical;
My Soul's Odessey must now confess;
The ruin of the passion of the animal;
That was 'oft myself, as a younger man;-
Temptation led me, where ever tempting can.

Beauty, like the world - it's often true;
Is mixed with cruelty, ugliness, and vice;
Sometimes good hearts and souls must go askew;
Before we realize we should be nice;
My chequered path in life, I must review;
And so I have, and so it will suffice;
To give here, so much, ample material;
(I relate each vignette, as a serial).

That this is rough and ready - perhaps I've told you;
That I'm Australian, (and so I must be frank);
Good reader, I would never mean to scold you;
For reading this, I must then you now thank;
On the wings of Poesy, I'll uphold you;
Tall tales, and true, right from the memory bank;
I thus continue this poetic story:
Despite the odds, I've lived life in its glory.

This is a type of internal monologue;-
An anecdote to sketch a wasted life;-
I'm sober - finally lifts the mind's long fog;-
Now clarity can shine amidst the strife;-
With renewed poetic force my thoughts I log;-
For this, my muse, my muse it is my wife!
Through some Arcady, where I may yet travel;-
As from the pen, my story does unravel.

Angel of The Sea

It is to us forever our duty to relay
With pride our tale of courage on the Isles that fateful day.
September 1838 she battled through the storm
for others she risked her life in the early hours of morn.

Gracie is the 'darling' of the north- shall ever be...
Oh Gracie oh our Darling our angel of the sea.

'Forfarshire' had carried folk, or so the story goes.
It smashed up on Big Harcar Rock where the leeside water flows.
With courageous hearts and fighting fear they rowed the coble out,
And rescued nine from broken bow before she turned about

Gracie is the 'darling' of the north- will ever be...
Oh Gracie oh our Darling our angel of the sea.

So all of this brought to her fame much to her dismay
She only wanted a simple life and wished they'd go away
She was showered with gifts of gratitude and a lifestyle of the best
Which caused her great discomfort she craved for time to rest.

Twas only four years later and she still oh so young
Her life was taken from us no fairness to be done
The Islands rise in glory in memory of our lass.
Her name in hearts forever and ever as times pass

Gracie is the 'darling' of the north- forever be...
Oh Gracie oh our Darling our angel of the sea.

Silence Molds the Clouds All day

Silent shadows
running thru the fields,
Silence molds the clouds
all-day

Silent moonlight
bounces thru the trees,
Silence two-steps across
the lake

Yet
when my heart
is with you
its shield breaks
oh Lord
how it breaks
in the most tender way.

Silent snowflake
falling like a ghost
Silence swings low thru
the gate

Silent stones
gather no thoughts,
Silence gives my heart
away.

Julia,
sleeping sand,
silent cloud,

So I sing a song of love,

Bid you adieu, so blue, but on cue, and was due, like an emu, so few, but it grew, a fine hue, for an interview, with a Jew, at Kew, in lieu, of a moo, so new, this overview, of a pew, in a queue, so renew, and stew, so true, but undue, this view, that would woo, some Xu, paid to you, at the Vietnamese zoo.

New Year Hopes and Wishes. (Edited).

Last year expired to sounds of Auld Lang Syne,
The bells of Christmas past are heard no more,
A 'New Year Toast' is raised with mulled red wine,
Before December bills come through the door.

New resolutions made with fervent mind,
So sadly most are destined not to last,
And in such broken promises you'll find,
A mirrored image of a failed year passed .

Act kindly to a pauper on the street,
Is all your spare cash for the bargain sales ?
Give help to some old pensioner you meet,
Or will it be another of your fails ?

Though '21 it was a trying year,
We must dig deep...for coping skills to delve,
Farewell old year, I doubt we'll shed a tear,
I couldn't wait to hear the clock strike twelve.

I send you all good tidings with fine cheer,
Straight from the Em'rald Isle across the miles,
May all your Covid worries disappear,
And future frowns may all revert to smiles.
