Lord let it rain

Whipping the master rites
still lightning high
unabashed solo
red freedom sky

Tamed by a jaguar
down on the plain
westerly wallow
the fevers engrained

When all thoughts of mercy
in deep foreign soil
ran hard in the corners
the sword and the foil

Served up like soup
the neighbor's disdain
damn with the fallout
Lord let it rain

Doirasi

I gave it all up,
Just to have it all again.
And if I had to start over,
I would still do the same.

About this poem:
This is from a story of mine involving a Spartan who interacts with the world outside New Sparta, and though he realized that he is more than what he seems, he still keeps to what he always was.

ChatGPT writes some prose

The summer sun cast its golden glow upon the sprawling estate, where opulence and grandeur reigned. In the midst of the lavish garden, adorned with vibrant blossoms and cascading fountains, a gathering of elegantly dressed figures indulged in idle conversations and sparkling champagne. Their laughter, tinged with a hint of melancholy, filled the air, blending seamlessly with the melody of a distant jazz band. It was a world where excess and extravagance intertwined, where each moment held the promise of unspoken desires and hidden secrets. And amidst the intoxicating allure of the soirée, I found myself caught in the whirlwind of longing and longing, for within this gilded realm, dreams were born and shattered with equal fervor, and every breath was laced with the heady scent of possibility.

~Door Knob Turns~

a step out into another dimension, horizontal breath a frost clings to the air lost in sight. Snow's yet to lay is a finger tip cold night. Perfect night in gaze a spotted night light as hands found the pockets head back in stare. Periph's pickin up clustered cloud a breath catches the air as a tongue to iced steel. Whats past the black behind spots a light as ears start to burn in the cold laden flowed air. Huge deep breath plundered drawn in . . . . . ~

THE DRAGONFLY

Tired from my climb out of the water
I crawled onto a lily pad
Trying to balance with a little totter
Feeling more than slightly sad

I had left all my friends at the bottom
Nature telling I needed to leave
Yes the view up here is awesome
Although leaving friends I do grieve

I made a promise I would return
But wait – my body is changing
I need to tell them what happens up here
I now have wings and am flying

I am now all these beautiful fluorescent colors

Embedded image from another site

I need to return to tell the good news
But all I can do is skim the water in flutters
Look up – lookup through the water and peruse

We come from the bottom of the earth
Then are called to the surface
Going through a transformation and rebirth
For a whole new life and purpose

Look up – look up above and see
God has given us a new body in life
Look up and see how beautiful you will be
You will leave the darkness too and arise

Pigeon-hearted

from a youth
where muscle had abounded
and they had drank heartily
to the claims
of scandalous deeds
once bedroom bold
swarthy
men who drove iron pegs
men who worked the docks
men who herded cattle
out on the frontier
now sullen
pigeon-hearted
down to a single hair
thin men, fat men
all beaten inward
forced to absorb it all
consigned to the benches
of the world
stoic however
like an orchestra enduring a light rain
mercifully trying to keep to the bar
as the mist
sweeps through the arches

Wayward light

The hourglass sifts down towards the bottomless undertow. The heart beats faster than what has ever been known. The soul shakes to the sound of the aftermath. The world turns until it burns and crash. As you lay in the wayward light falling into a dream. Decent into the emptiness of the stars as they beam. Into your eyes a darkness Fades into tears. Bringing your mind to the worst in life of all your fears. Creating a moment and in that moment it's an eternity. But in that forever moment the night has shown us rain. And in that wayward light those feelings though bottled up hurt for only just a day. One day the hurt will be gone as I look at the golden haze.

In the beginning

As soon as you pray it echoes
only God consumes its meaning
in this tall room with high rafters
once built for reverence

There's a small bell in the corner
it is chiming in the morning draught
I imagine a spirit still resides here
in this once loved sanctuary

Weddings and funerals all passed
ceremonies for the masses
we watch the candles burn
sunlight through the panes

Salvation may be hidden
in the mysteries here, for all I know
I turn a page and read
"In the beginning.."

Olive Green

Olive green
fix me a martini
when you stir, you shine
and all the syllables flow
down through the pages
as small fish must ply
in the bountiful ocean

two strings to your bow
she coyly remarked
wolverine weaponry
tossing her hair
she idled on

I'm left in the plush air
of a night's writing
an idle pursuit
God granted
feeling for the next stanza
is a call to arms

looking for the cadence
to rectify the machinery
too much in play
beat it out so
it is no missive Jim
words flow like liquor talks
strong is made gut to gut
bringing out the light
shadows cast asunder
