I Don't Understand

I don't understand how to be rich
I don't understand being poor
But I understand being sad
There's nothing to explore

I can't explore today
I can't explore tomorrow
A dreamer who never found the way
To leave behind sorrow

Only the birds have a song
They cause me to look up
And when the gray sky is gone
If only I had just a little luck

And find I'm somewhere over the rainbow
A pot of gold could be just a smile
From someone who has a soul
I don't understand why no one wants to listen for awhile

Break-up

The words flew away
And silence invaded space
Between you and me.

House feels empty
What we shared burned out
Without fire

MAMA MADE ME

THOUGH SHE IS GONE
SHE USED TO TELL ME WHEN WE WERE ALONE
THAT DRUGS GOT NO MEDICINE

THOUGH SHE IS A WOMAN
SHE RAISED ME TO BE A MAN
WHO CAN STAND AND FIGHT ON MY OWN
THAT'S WHY WHEN I WAS A KID
SHE USED TO KNOCK MY HEAD
WARNING ME NOT TO SMOKE WEED
OTHERWISE MY MIND MIGHT SLIDE

THOUGH I AM NOW OLD
I STILL MISS HER INDEED
SOMETIMES I CRY WHEN DAYS ARE WILD
IT'S A DIFFERENT MOOD
CAN'T EXPRESS IN WORDS

THOUGH I AM STILL MORNING
IT REMINDS ME BACK TO THE BEGINNING
WHEN MY LATE MOM INFRONT OF ME CLAPPING
WHILE I TRY TO WALK AT THE SAMETIME TALKING.

FOR MY MOM. 1949-1996

About this poem:
I WROTE THIS POEM WHEN MY MOM PASSED AWAY, AT THAT TIME GOT NO DAD TOO. I WAS AN ORPHAN. SO ALL MY LIFE I HAVE BEEN READING IT. KEEPING IN SIDE MY LOCKER. TRAVELLING WITH IT EVERY WHERE I GO.IT HELPS ME WHEN I AM DOWN. I AM IN MY 40S BUT WHEN I AM ALL ALONE AND DAYS ARE COLD STILL REMEMBER HER AND WHEN I RECITE IT I SEE MY CHILD HOOD AND LAUGH.

Behind the curtain.

Caught in a quiet avalanche, you see me as I want you to.
Though you think me near, I am secretly further away.
I nod and smile in the right places like they're not rehearsed lines.
We're both alone when we're together, and I am that with everyone.

Who Knew

Who's to know I am here
Who's to know I am me
Who's to hear what I have to say
And who knew I was here yesterday

There's no one to look into my eyes
No female to say who I am
Am I just an ordinary guy
I've waited longer than mortals could stand

Who's to know I am wrong
Who's to say they disagree
Who's is near who is far away as time goes on
And who knew no one but me

Unless The Sun Brings My Shadow To Me

Windows in a house and there's a view
I pace back and forth like a prisoner would do
How often I clean the window pane
Going round in circles my thoughts are all in vain

If the weather is good or bad or fair
It's something I cannot share
How much longer can this be
I'm all alone unless the sun brings my shadow to me

Time passes by if only I
Could make it stand still I could climb over the hill
But still there's no one to see
Unless the sun brings my shadow to me

Life's just an echo in my head
When there's a path from chair to bed
Another day to feel lonely
Unless the sun brings my shadow to mec

The Last Of Days

In years gone by people knew why
Men were men
And women were women

The compass point use to say Jesus saves
Now it's been thrown away
And no one wants to find it in the last of days

Now it's a text message race
A rocket ship to mars
And musicians are playing on thousand dollar guitars

Everyone wants to travel
And tomorrow is just come what may
They think the judge has lost his gavel in the last of days

Faster and faster that's the brand new way
If no one can slow down then no one can turn around
Spend and don't save day after day

Technology has become our new guide
The computer has no delays
Welcome aboard this last ride in the last of days

Not Hung Upon Anything

When we were young we were not hung upon anything
We could be young and discover
The goodness of life as a song to sing

And then one day the world gave us a pill
And we became ill with so many broken dreams
Instead of today we went in the way of what tomorrow brings

And when we got old we tried to hold
To a glimpse of remembering
Of when we were young and not hung upon anything

Fearless

Waiting for the sunshine,
Someday it came but didn't shine,
Is it just you?,
Are you losing your mind?, -
You carelessly wonder,
In an abyss being the last climb,
What matters now?,
Make it the last time?, --

A townhouse in town,
The middle of the city of dead,
Life moves on,
As if you are not there, -
You go outside,
They cower,
They hide and they're scared, -
Perhaps they should be?, --

Fearless,
Maybe the scars you bear?,
Fearless,
Maybe the long hair?, --

You go out to eat,
They serve you right away,
Although others were there before you,
They still have to wait, -
You're a kind hearted man,
But not everyday,
Suppose they may know that?,
From the games that you play?, --

Waiting for the moon,
Someday it came but hid behind the clouds,
Is it just you?,
Are you feeling that down?, -
You ignore weather, pain, food,
Closest to the best they would call,
The best way to feel,
Is to feel nothing at all, --

Fearless,
Maybe your dream was born?
Fearless,
Maybe now all is gone?

About this poem:
I wrote this 6-22-2023. I suppose in this write that you've done about everything (and gone everywhere), and now what? I'd say improvise, adapt, overcome, and write a madcap song like this! lol Until then

Tarot - Ask the Cards

Will he come to me?
Shall I be his bride?
Speak unbroken promise
Stay right by my side

Is he on his way?
Dare I crack the door
How shall it be, with he?
A cosmos to explore

Remorsefully encumbered
Such a burden, my dear
Shall I awaken to him, sleeping
Upon my breasts, right here?

When will he arrive?
For I can hardly sleep
This moment I've been praying
Our love forever, keep

Hurry near, beloved
My patience runs too thin
Kiss my eyes before
The tears they fall again
