The majority of Americans I have spoken with on this subject would prefer to NOT answer foreign calls for aid, would rather concentrate on domestic needs, and sort out the mess the country is in rather than flying off dealing with other's troubles.
It is the ADMINISTRATION who makes those decisions; who sends tax dollars and soldiers overseas to answer calls for aid. The SAME administration that gets called "American Bullys".
Cant have it both ways.
Most Joe Public Americans, I believe, follow the Charity Begins at Home ethic. Of course, if America did that she would be accused of being selfish.

Yep, we can all find quotations somewhere to fit our cause.
I find it absolutely amazing the double standards that some folk have regarding this issue.
One moment, they are screaming.."You cant believe what you read in the paper/on the internet/on the TV; its biased, and brainwashing us and simply not true"..
The next, they are showering us with links that allegedly "prove their point"..
Of course, it depends on where the source comes from and what their Political Viewpoint of The Day is..
This is a comment made on a particularly distateful thread in the Irish Forum regarding Bin Laden, but basically turned into a "Im Irish and Wonderful, and Your American and An Eejit" Thread..

I have been on this site longer than you, my friend, so please do not spout your vitriol at me. Despite the fact that you have upset more people on here than Ive had hot dinners, I believe you also have lost your temper on occasion and been banned from posting.
I also actually made some nice comments to you in the past, but I see you prefer this attitude. Not nice.
