One day, I truely hope you dont meet an American man, who sweeps you off you feet, who you fall madly in love with and cant live without.

Because if that happened, you would definately have to make him move to Spain!

Americans dont like people with an Earl Gray Saucer wedged between their pearly whites..

I cant remember watching equally cringworthy stuff on the BBC, actually.roll eyes grin

I'd sue the doctor for medical malpractice, demand a return ticket from the Pearly Gates, give St. Michael a good slap across his cherub face and have a beer.

RE: Unforgettable ! ! !

I just watched 90% of it, and think it was lovely!

Yep, she was a little shocked at first, but I think the shortlived period of upset was more than made up for with the look of sheer delight on her face for the rest of the clip.

I am sure she forgave him!

Really, really cute.

I'd say America does all of the above.

And then, they get slammed for it.

RE: Patriotism

I agree.thumbs up wine

RE: Patriotism

No, you cant.

You could say Americans are fed up to back teeth of being blamed for having a high respect for their country and their people. They may be more vocal, more in your face with that, but that doesnt mean its wrong.

Yes, Americans get defensive on this forum, God D right they do. And its usually down to the fact that they are bashed daily for their views, their country's views and their beliefs.

Usually by people who have no idea whatsoever what they are talking about.

RE: Patriotism

My idea of Patriotism is this:

Being proud to call yourself a citizen of that country, celebrating its achievements and history, pride in being lucky enough to have been born in that country..

Being a "Patriot" does not necesarily mean you agree with all your country's policies, agree with everything that is done or said in that country, but accepting that there is good and bad policy and the good outweighs the bad.

Not being blind to its faults, in other words but still being proud to be a citizen.

RE: Online friends can be real

Thats a very sad story, but a very uplifting one in another way, Gem.thumbs up

Yes, of course we can be real friends here, and on the internet. I have friends here I keep in touch with off site, and also I play a game on FB that is a great way of getting to know folks. I have met an American lady who is married to an English lad, who is going through the immigration process, and we have all become friends, have spoken on the telephone, and intend to meet soon.

The internet is just another outlet to meet people, and sometimes, if youre lucky, they can turn into real, good, longterm friends.

RE: Say something nice...anything. :-) Part II

laugh Well, I had some left over sausage, and so I just quickly boiled a few eggs and did it. Its not too bad, actually.

I grew up eating these with salad alot when I was in England and they remind me of home.

They were pretty good too, apart from the fact that I made the sausage layer a little too thick and had to cook them longer than it says.
