I had the best day off yesterday; the sun was shining, it was hot, the smell of grilling BBQs everywhere, the sound of kids splashing in their pools, laughter, neighborly banter, and the click of many Buds being opened.
The fun, pride and simple enjoyment of a day was tangible.
We dont blast Irish for Paddy's Day; we dont blast English for George's Day, we dont insult the French for enjoying Bastille Day..Keep your complaints for the political threads and back off.
Get a grip, you naysayers! You are boring. BORING! DO YOU HEAR?!
Was just reading up about this diet business, and it does seem like low-fat, low-starch, is the way to go. It suprises me though, because they say things like cucumber is good but brocolli is not!
As the other ladies kindly said, I think its trial and error, but generally speaking its natural, additive free and low carb. Which is all good!
I have just come out of hospital after having my gallbladder removed. It was an emergency trip to the ER on Thursday morning, when they diagnosed 6 gallstones and the need to remove my gallbladder.
I am hope now, and dont feel too bad but very tired and sore.
I have been trying to get some online info about post-gallbladder surgery diet and care and wondered if anyone had any diet info they could share with me. From what I have already read, it seems quite complicated what you can and can eat and drink and Im confused already!
There was a program on tv today about looks, and how "good looking" people are perceived in the workplace as opposed to less "good looking". I know this thread relates to weight more than looks, but the principle is similar, I guess.
I certainly believe there is discrimination with regard to looks, albeit "under the table" discrimination. And, in my own experience, LAWYERS' offices are the worst! Im sure the OP can relate to what I am saying here!
Cute, long-legged secretaries or executives are definately treated differently. I have always been blessed with reasonable looks, and although I have rounded out over the years I am still fairly slim. Saying that, when I was younger I was slimmer and there was no doubt in my mind that I was sometimes preferred over older, less shapely individuals. Not passed over for a job, perhaps, but definately given different treatment.
I currently am in a position where looks and personal presentation are a big part of the job, so I expect to have to make an effort and look my best. If you take on a job in this sphere, then yes, you have to accept this is the case, and they dont you turning up in an old grey cardigan, running pants and no make up.
However, in jobs where you are not so much in the public eye it really shouldnt matter too much. As long as you are clean, tidy, and more importantly - EFFICIENT, that should suffice.
If I didnt consider people on here to be "real people", I wouldnt throw a thread up for discussion or opinion, because their opinions wouldnt matter. I consider everyone on here real people, unless proved otherwise.
Go for it, Monte, put your thread up. Im sure its an interesting one.
I think many of us are reticent about starting threads because they feel that it will be used as an excuse to start backstabbing at the author if they have a grudge against said person, yes. I also think that it is like the schoolyard when a fight ensues; it is easier to stand on the sidelines and heckle than it is to go marching in, rescue someone and make yourself known.
Everyone so far on this thread I know has started threads themselves, but there are others who complain about lack of interesting content who do not.
I know exactly what you mean, outdoor. I think many refrain from starting threads due to worries about nasty comments, troublemakers etc. That, I can understand.
However, you seem like a lady who would have lots to contribute and I for one would love to see more threads from you.
Its not easy sometimes to keep a thread on track, but I have learned to circumvent stupidity/irrelevant comments on my threads and focus on the relevant. Not always easy!
You dont have to have an excellent grasp of English, or be MENSA intelligent; it just requires a little effort and imagination.
No point in complaining about lack of interesting content if dont try and contribute, is there? I dont care how my thread go when I post them; I enjoy a good discussion thread, but even if it goes belly up, at least I have made an effort.
Do you write and create threads? If so, what do you usually write about, and why?
If not, why not? What stops you starting one?
I see many folks on here who complain about who boring the threads are but rarely see them start any themselves.
The forums are something we get out of what we put in; if no-one creates interesting, thought and discussion-provoking threads then there will be no thought or discussion provoked!
I often start a thread based on something that I have read that hits a spot, or a topic I believe would be good for discussion. Threads are not always easy to keep on top of, and you have to go with the flow to a degree, but if everyone of us created good, solid threads more often I think the forums would be more interesting.
RE: Happy Independence Day Americans !!
Morning, Leigh..Hope you had a good one..
