Its a difficult one, and the balance is hard to get.
When you are going on a first date, or its very early in the relationship, I think we all put our "best foot forward", and probably dress up more and take more care with our makeup than maybe we would say, after a year or so.
Taking time with our hair, make up and clothes can be taken as a sign of caring what the other person thinks of you, and if done tastefully, can be a huge compliment to the man. You dont have to slap it on like Coco the Clown, though. Too much, and you look like you are hiding something; just enough, and all you do is show you have made an effort for the person and are just attempting to highlight your best features.
I agree with what you say, but with respect, just because it is too difficult to enforce does not make online defammation acceptable.
I believe the OP was simply underlining that the out-of-line behaviour that occurs on the internet on occasion is just as serious as some RL defammation.
Alas, the nature of the beast is that technology -v- progression of humanity dont always go hand in hand.
