Almost from my earlest memories I've experienced ethnic and gender discrimination, but I don't have to worry about being gunned down by police for being on the way to the shop whilst black, or for being on my own porch whilst black. I was statistically less likely to have a stress related still birth, or child who died within a few hours.
It's a choice whether to apply my experience and knowledge in the interests of equality where everyone benefits, or whether to use it as an excuse to ignore the inequality that is, on the surface, to my advantage.
We all benefit from equality, more equal societies thrive more, so being proudly 'anti-woke' is ultimately self-defeating, short-sighted and foolish.
You do realise we have a centralised government, right?
Three countries on the biggest island of an archipelago with one centralised government and a British passport regardless of which country you were born, or live in.
When someone asks where you come from they're kinda saying 'you don't belong here like I do'.
It starts to become offensive when you say where you live, but that person keeps pressing the point because they can't see beyond their own limited thoughts and experiences.
Tell me what you think 'woke' is, or who 'woke people' are and I might be able to understand.
You need to define the premise of your proposition before anything can be inferred from it.
It's actually you who's avoiding talking about what 'woke' is, but in order to avoid it, you accuse me of avoiding it. It's a common technique in politics these days, but not a constructive one.
Bod is right about the divisiveness. These techniques create a 'them and us' paradigm, where 'they' are accused of things, either without foundation, or of things the 'us' are doing and hoping no one will notice.
