What we have seen of ACA so far....is raising of health insurance rates....simply because the insuring companies were going to lose 45m Americans to the government plan. Smaller groups means larger premiums when it comes to insurance.
Other factors were in that as well. Small business got hit with fines if they did not cover employees. If you did not have the coverage the IRS 'taxed' you with a fine as well.

They are not trying to do away with SSI or with medicare, but in both make the cost reduce with competition of private enterprise.
Say Romney and Ryan get elected. They then shread the SS. Which I don't think will happen. But say they do. Just ACA, legal claims to the Constitutionality of the new law passed by the REP that shread SS will be made. Just like ACA, time for those court cases will be written into the bill. So this shreading of the SS is not a immediate thing. So htere is a legal recourse that eventually ends up at a Supreme court that is about 50 / 50 liberal and conservative in make up.
But I don't think that would occur. Here is what Romney said about SS during the REP nomination campaign of recent....
"There are two ways to make Social Security work forever. One of course is raise the age of retirement by a year or two. The other it slow inflating growth of the growth to higher-income of Social Security recipient s. Again not currently recipients, but those in their 20s, 30s, 40s and early 50s."
So let people work a year or two more? Or cut back the high income benefits of those younger than 55? So for retired baby boomers and for those receiving small income SS benefits, like your wife....I don't see them cutting their SSI. Lastly if he is thinking of ways to make SS last forever, then he is not thinking of killing the SS program.
By the way Perry did attack him on the position...said it was a flip from a earlier position on SS.
I just know this is going to develop into a international "crisis" that only Chavez and Obama can handle with face to face diplomacy (e.g. media time for both and photos opt for both) looking Presidential.

Ryan's voucher plan send much of medicare back to the state. Ryan budget did not cut Pell grant, it kep them the same. Alot of DEM supported the Iraq war Even President Obama has extended the Bush tax cuts.

Hawii is a very heavily DEM state. Saying you are a REP in the Islands, usually means getting your surf board taken away.
Hawii has a special primary election for Senator going on.
Linda Linge a REP seems to be polling very well in the state. And DEMs are running two in the primary.

If the Ryan/Romney express is going to take off. Hawii's results on this primary are important to watch. If a REP wins the retiring DEM Senator seat, the REP would have 48 seats. DEM would have 50 Seats and 2 IND. About as close as it gets.
With 21 DEM Senate Seat and only 10 REP seats up for re-election in November.....changing the Senate to being REP seems a very real possibility.

I am not sure what gov't medical programs your wife requires and has access too. But look down the road a piece. Obama's ACA cut 700b from medicare. Romney is going to replace ACA and place some of the 700b back into medicare. Is my thinking.
Romney is the top man in the ticket. He installed a health coverage plan in MA as a governor. Agreed it will be less funded that the ACA. The ACA he intends to cut 100%, But for your wife, since the ACA does not begin till 2014. She is not getting any benefits for it now. But don't discount compassionate conservative values here. REP have nothing to gain by seeing medical access denied to ailing Americans.

Exactly. With the ACA and its medicare cuts, it is even less. So Doctors that have been treating medicare patients get a choice. They either stop practicing with them. Or go to a hospital setting (drop from a medical firm). Or stop practicing all together.

I'm all for dumping Obamarama but I read in this short article that Ryan wants to put Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in a group called Entitlement Programs. I contributed to SS and Medicare therefore it's not an entitlement, I earned it. It reminds me of an old tv commercial by a portly British actor where he says "You Earned It".
If they make SS and Medicare an entitlement I might not qualify. Recently I tried to get into a senior housing unit which would provide me a reduction in rent but they said I had too much money in a savings account and therefore didn't qualify even though my income which is just SS met the requirement. They want me to spend every dime I have and then re-apply when I'm flat broke. Figure that one out.
Here is my take.
Ryan has in the past mentioned various ways to reduce the budget. These include cutting SS and medicare. But Romney is a mid road reformer. He put a health care system into Mass.
Romney also know that to win this election....he has to have the IND vote. So going after SS and medicare program, both that the IND want as well is out I think. At least early in thier administration. Later?
Depend on how well the deficits come down. But to really know what Ryan would go after in balancing the budget and cutting the deficit....read his book. REP are heralding him as the "REP conservative thinker"
But remember Obama cut $700b from Medicare for his ACA. In his acceptance address, Ryan mentioned that. With elected Romney cutting ACA, that 700B can come back to medicare.
Every state is different on long term housing for mature people. Different state laws give for different programs to be offered. Here in Florida, there is a Masonic Home....that also forces you to 'divest' your assets before admittance. Both of my parents looks at it and rejected the program.
It is not one I would recommend. You are counting on the facility to maintain economic viability....during your silver years. If it has financial troubles, you have no resources to leave or to change facilities. So you are stuck. Those financial troubles can be as simple as a major law suit awarded in court settlement. Or bad facility management.
As much as I wanted to see Marco Rubio on the REP ticket. I think that Ryan is a good choice. He is young and will bring a youth vote. Specially from his father's following. He is from Wisconsin, a state just went big for Tea Party Governor Walker and he will help to bring that DEM state to the REP party. And maybe several other mid west states.
He is good in debate and in speaking engagements.
Ryan and Romney has a good ring to it. Romney can do two terms. Then Ryan can run for the Presidency with Rubio as his running mate. With a little luck REP will hold the Presidency for the next 16 years. One must look ahead you know.........

DEM Barney Frank triggered the crisis when he had all the US mortgage reappraised to lower property values. Supposedly to replace the bank investment with some "new type valuation". He never said what this new thing of value would be. He just said we have to get away from mortgage valuation.
But when he forced the banks to reappraise the mortgage portfolios, American lost billions in housing values. They could no longer borrow on properties that were so low in value. Then that market disruption spread to the commercial insurance industry, the banking industry and then the auto industry.
The Bush administration had already told Reid/Pelosi Congress that a housing bubble was emerging. Then Frank overreacted to the situation in April of 2008. By that fall, his house finance committee's new appraisal regulation were in effect. Then you have Fannie and Freddie spreading the financial disaster to the insurance and banking industries. Both were DEM controlled. Barney Frank's live lover is a high ranking executive at Fannie Mea. You want to tell me that collusion between Franks and his lover did not occur here? With lower priced housing, Frank's lover is making more loans thru the Freddie Mac system. But later when the DEM do the investigation into the collapse of 2008. Does any of this get entered into the 'official record'? Nah.
This is were you have to good leadership. We vote them into office to protect our properties and our assets....not to mention the country.

We have the recent example of GM investing $596m to get its famed GM logo on the shirt of the Manchester United fotbol (soccer team). You got under some of that $596m is US tax plyer money. Maybe we should ask for a nice size US flag be placed on the famed shirt of the club?

But clearly placing the GM logo on Manchester U shirt does little for jobs in American. It is questionable how many GM cars the advertising would even sell in the UK or even in Manchester.
Yet it was NOT President Obama car czar that debunked the deal. It took a GM whistle blower to do that. They are stilling investigating to see if the GM official got a kickback on the deal. I bet he got life long Manchester U tickets.....$596m is a tidy sum.
That the Obama administration would approve the questionable advertising of GM....that is even more in value than the gov't $500m loan to Solydrn, shows the business smarts of this administration. For much less than the $596m, GM could do a car give a away raffle at all the home games of Man U and gotten the advertising. And still paid less. Don't laugh, that Buick does not sit at the pro tour golf course for no reason. Having Tiger Wood sliding into a Buick and drive away does sell cars. So does placing a GM Camero in the Man U stadium and tossing the keys to a lucky Man U fan.
