RE: Thunderstorms

It has to start with a few, we wait and watch what happens next year. The weather is unstable, and this affects produce. What is altering the weather?

Could be the same stuff that is causing whales and dolphins to beach themselves? Remember, those are mammals, not fish. But fish are dying too, now.

Do you think all this is a natural progression of history? Maybe. And maybe not.

RE: Thunderstorms

No no ..... on the contrary. Countries will be buying geneticall modified seeds that do not rely on cross polination! They are sterile seeds, containing pesticides/fungicides/herbicides.

But the next year the countries will then have to buy very expensive new sprays to control the Super Weeds and insect mutations that have adapted to what they ate the year before.

Google Super Weeds and insect mutations from GM produce. And while Googling, try uTube for a documentary called "Gasland". Rather thought provoking.

RE: Thunderstorms

And it was too wet here in Summer! Wine is going to be VERY expensive next year! Everything grew mould this year.

And with all the anti-mildew sprays used in the vineyards ..... people had sinus infections of fungus! (not bacterial, like used to).

RE: Thunderstorms

We also had the Bee story here. But this year I paid attention - and saw LOTS of bees, everywhere.

The problem is, I believe, that the bees go back to their hives, with pollen that has been sprayed with chemicals ...... and they die.

So, slowly, the bee population is dying out, very slowly, so we don`t really notice it.

And then Big Pharma can offload their GM seeds on farmers - that don`t need pollination, because they are sterile anyway.
And the human race will (is) beoming more sterile too - and women are beginning to fail at full-term gestation ..... so babies will be "grown" in test-tubes in the future.

Hell, old Aldous Huxley wasn`t far wrong with his old predictions in "Brave New World" huh? ........ We are destined to become Production Line Humans, in selected pre-programmes using genetic manipulations.

RE: Thunderstorms

I was amazed to hear Obama in one of his speeches saying that he had just released 3,000 hectares (I think it was about that figure, cant recall exactly) for natural gas exploration, to make America independent of the oil countries ...... and THAT is confirmation of the "Fracking" going on there, where they are poisoning the ground water ..... to have gas for power.

And then I read that Kellogs is the big buyer of all the genetically modified wheat grown there? So we`ve all been eating GM cereals without knowing it?

No wonder Big Firms are fighting like hell to keep from having to label their products "GM".

Anyway, doesnt really matter. I grew up with DDT disinfectant - We had it dusted all over our beds, and sprayed all over the kitchen for flies ......and I`m perfectly healthy .... sort-of .... I hope ......

Aaahhhh ... a new planet, somewhere, for my next life!

Spending money ......

You must be a soft hearted person Maisie?

Listen to Phoenix ...... rainy day account starts NOW!

Kids have their whole lives ahead of them to save their own money cool

Search the flights. I did that last year, to visit SA, and found a flight that was half the usual fare! Depends on the day of the week. For some reason Tuesdays and Thursdays had cheaper flights!
Sometimes the more advance bookings are cheaper too.

Spending money ......

Oh you are a good boy!grin Rainy day accounts are excellent ....... my mantra is "The only money you have, is the money you haven`t spent"! As soon as you`ve spent it, it`s GONE!

Spending money ......

My personal aim is to have only enough clothes to fit in a back-pack! I got there once, but living here in Switzerland and needing "winter" clothes, means I have to have TWO back-packs nowgrin

Ja, keeping the figure trim is what makes clothes look good, no matter what they are!

I`ve seen my fat friends, they keep buying new stuff to "improve" their looks ...... and still keep their old "thin" clothes, "in case / when / they get thin again, which never seems to happen?

Then they buy shoes, then jewellery ....... but it still makes no difference ...... The clothing size keeps growing! And money flies out.

Spending money ......

For the last year I have stayed away from Shopping Malls - and it`s amazing how money just stays in my wallet!
When I look at my clothes, I`m horrified at how much I actually have!
I arrived in this country with 20kg of clothing - lovely - and now I have enough to outfit an entire African village!

Actually, when I see how hung-up people are with "changing fashions" - it makes me irritable. Or am I just getting old?!grin

RE: Thunderstorms

Well, I don`t want to depress you guys .... but ...... everything is changing.

Here in my part of the world, for the first time anyone can remember .... there were NO cherries on the cherry trees - and that is a disaster of national standards!

But seriously. I was reading today that the groundwater is SO contaminated it is becoming almost beyond purification ..... it`s contaminated by poisons (pesticides/herbicides) ... and the water going from houses for purification to re-enter the rivers .... is also SO contaminated ... by the amount of drugs people are taking. And I`m not talking about Happy Weeds .... its prescription drugs from Big Pharma.

Human faeces is SO poisonous - it actually kills any seeds in the earth! When I was growing up, our town had vegetable fields around all the sewerage works and the runoff water was used to water the veges - not anymore!

So, I only drink "purified water" now - alcohol kills germs, I hope?drinking

Spending money ......

How do you spend your money?

Do you always need to be buying new stuff?

Or are you happy with what you have, and just spend on neccessities like food and what you have to pay to live?

Let`s chat about this nerve-wracking subjectgrin

What are you cooking to eat today?

I`ve noticed a strange phenomenon ....... people who smoke "herbal type ciggies" are not fat! Yet I do know that them herbals encourage "the munchies" - so ...... how do they stay slim? (and also healthy, which I`ve noticed too!)

Fast foods and beer is very nice! But .... don`t you sometimes crave a good old-fashioned home-cooked meal?

....... Slow roasted leg of lamb .....with thick gravy from the juices ......steamed fresh vegetables ....... savoury rice .......roasted potatoes .....?grin

(Trying to make Steevyv drool heredevil )

RE: Did 3000 people really die on 9/11

It was just that - a hole. Did the wings fall off before it hit? Or did they fold back into the body?

According to a pilot, a plane that big cannot fly under 500m, because of the lift caused by the wings ..... and it hit that building at ground level (huh?).

And in the photos there is no debris lying around outside the building. It all went neatly into that little hole.

flex crazy

What are you cooking to eat today?

Don`t look so sad about your gruelflex .... you`ll grow up to be a big strong man, on gruel!

Today, this morning, I baked 2kg (3 loaves) of Rye bread.
That`s the for the next week!

RE: The world is changing

Some people have changed.
But not all people have.
There are still many who have values,
usually the values were instilled in them
by their parents.
So - it all depends on what the parents instilled in their kids?

Although, I must say, I know one person who had no parents, had an awful lifej, was treated cruely by foster parents, and is still the most perfect human being, with values surpassing many others.
The only thing "lacking" in this person is self-confidence.

And I`m not talking about myself!laugh

What are you cooking to eat today?

Potatoe Bake .... with minced beef/onions/garlic/zucchini/ .. and a thick cheese sauce with a couple eggs mixed in - then baked till golden brown and crispy on top.

RE: How hot is in your place?

Oh, I forgot ... that was on Gozo!

Does Malta itself have those squares in the towns? Or is it more "modern"?

RE: How hot is in your place?

Malta is such a lovely country! I`d love to be able to live there!

Love the atmosphere - in the squares in the mornings, nice things to eat, those little fresh pastries, and good coffee! and very nice beer!

What are you cooking to eat today?

Oh yes ....... I catch them, throw them on the ground, sit on their back, and slice their heads off! Then I skin and gut them ...... and hang them up in the barn to bleed for a week, then I cut them up into nice small pieces.

I`m a mighty tough woman ...... a cow weighs about a ton, and I do all that!grin

Well ... at least I can look them in the eye and tell them I`m gonna eat a piece of them one of these days! Instead of buying pieces of flesh in polystyrene in supermarket, that comes from some strange beast who`s been chained in a barn for it`s whole life eating rotten smelling old silo grass gunge.sad flower

RE: WhatsApp Messenger is Superb?

I don`t even know what an App is. New things don`t interest me - only new knowledge.

RE: Ladies /women / the bearer of life .......

Stupid.

RE: Cuspys words or no words that posssibly rhyme

Sundance

What are you cooking to eat today?

Who is the "stranger" here now?!

Welcome back, oh Great Green Beard!bowing

Well, that sounds okay ......quite healthy in fact!

At 4am I had Gorgonzola cheese on crackers.

And then at 9am, 2 slices of home-made wholewheat toast with Appenzeler cheese and raw onions.

For tonight I make a Swiss dish - Hörnli noodles with mince (local swiss beef) and Àpfelmousse.

(Ja! I DO eat meat, now and again - but only from local healthy full grown animals who`ve spent their lives living outdoors.)

RE: How hot is in your place?

We had 38c last week ... it was summer.
Now we have 18c, it is beginning of autumn.

Only 2 weeks of "summer" this year. I am wondering how long winter is going to be this year?

Actually, we had SO much rain this summer, it was tropical!

How many languages do you speak?

You are very talented! I don`t know how people manage to travel to other countries if they don`t speak or understand English! Spanish is a good choice - I hear a lot of local Italians break into Spanish now and again when they talking to Columbians - must be wonderful to speak so many languages!

Ja - Swiss German is another story!grin

What are you cooking to eat today?

We all eat everyday ...... so what are you going to eat today?

Are you making it yourself (not Steevyv because he is busy suffering under his "wife`s" cooking!rolling on the floor laughing ).... but the rest of you?

RE: Cuspys words or no words that posssibly rhyme

Stored.........

RE: Cuspys words or no words that posssibly rhyme

Aah well, I guess nobody wants to play with your words Cuspy?crying .... So I will have to!

Cupboard ...........dunno

RE: so they say... what do you say?

I say - Generally there are very few people who make a path. They walk, instead, in the paths of others.

RE: why my wife can't cook as well as my mother ?

Ja .... the reasons men get married!

I knew someone who got married because he couldn`t afford a washing machine........grin
