Madame Doubtfire....

1st.....
On paper, Mrs. Doubtfire
Origin of the "Doubtfire" name....

Madame Doubtfire, known as Alias Madame Doubtfire in the United States, is a 1987 novel written by English author Anne Fine for teenage and young adult audiences. The novel is based on a family with divorced parents.

Author Anne Fine based the name of her novel on a 1970s-era second-hand store, "Madame Doubtfire," located at the corner of Howe Street and South East Circus Place in Edinburgh. The shop was owned by Annabella Coutts, who named her shop after her first husband, Arthur Cyril Doubtfire.

In November 1993, six years after its publication, the novel was adapted into Mrs. Doubtfire, a film starring Robin Williams and Sally Field.

MOVIE INFO.....

Troubled that he has little access to his children, divorced Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) hatches an elaborate plan. With help from his creative brother Frank (Harvey Fierstein), he dresses as an older British woman and convinces his ex-wife, Miranda (Sally Field), to hire him as a nanny. "Mrs. Doubtfire" wins over the children and helps Daniel become a better parent -- but when both Daniel and his nanny persona must meet different parties at the same restaurant, his secrets gets exposed.

2nd..... 'A Doubting Thomas'

In the Bible, Thomas would not believe that Jesus had come back from the dead until he saw proof of it. St. Thomas was the apostle who doubted Jesus' resurrection until he had proof of it (John 20:24–29). The first known use of the phrase metaphorically dates back to 1883.

The phrase 'A Doubting Thomas' is used to describe someone who is so skeptical that they don't believe anything without personal experience. Example of Use: “Don't waste your time on explanations; he's a doubting Thomas.”rolling on the floor laughing

YMMV...

Not everyone has the same opinion / outlook / personality / desires in not only dating... but everything in life.

I believe I first heard/saw the acronym YMMV in some forum posts. It started from car commercials/advertisements regarding vehicle mileage claims... Claims that users cannot (normally) achieve. Your mileage may vary. Yeah... it will vary as those tests are done under perfect conditions.

Around the city, my car does around 25 miles per gallon. Late at night when driving along a long stretch of State Road 7 (US441) and holding below the speed limit I can get more than 41 miles per gallon. Big difference than 9am when the road is congested.

With regard to dating sites, YMMV. Some people join them and find that selection of country, height, hair color, religion, smoking, personality, education, economic background doesn't really get them what they are looking for!

More than a decade ago people who were frustrated not finding what they were looking for turned to Facebook for the social interaction. Online dating wasn't working for them and they were able to make friendship connection on social media.

Dating sites... YMMV !

Dating a dog...

Some profiles have their primary photo (and sometimes only photo) of a dog. I surmise the relationshit is clouded by someone who isn't willing to show their real photo. Yeah, to those women, it's attention getting for the wrong reason. Guys will probably click out of curiosity and move on because no one wants to date a dog.

I'll make this a two-part blog.

That leads up to women and dogs. It was cool to date women with dogs when I was in high school and college. One girl I dated was living with her parents, going to college and sometimes helping with the family business. One of the benefits of being in a wealthy family was her trained Irish Setter had been professionally groomed.

Years later, I found myself dating divorced women with young children. I could get through the children part... it was the family 'god' I had issues with. No, I'm not dyslexic. One dog was so aggressive he had to be penned in another room when I visited. That was a short lived relationship. Another short lived relationship had the overly happy dog jumping on the furniture vying for attention. Could these relationships gone farther if the dogs weren't part of the equation? Possibly.

Recently, I worked with a woman who took sick days to care for her dog. She was really good at her job, but the boss was annoyed when she lost time baby sitting her dog or weekly trips to the veterinarian. I know she was dating and I believe a few guys had ghosted her... probably because the sickly dog was the focal point of the relationship.
On days when she brought her dog to the office, he would quietly sit on a cushion near her desk. When she got up to greet customers or go to another office, the dog would let out a cry of loneliness you could hear throughout the showroom.

Blended families....so called...

Sure, many searching singles are without children. Or the 'kids' have long left the roost. But in a surprising number of cases, at whatever age, mom or dad still has one or more at home. There are rare cases of children with severe developmental disorders, making life on their own too hard. Parents as saints. Potentially great partners. But mostly, things are quite different. Stepping into a step parent role isn't for the faint of heart, with offspring of any age.The situations where I've seen it work well seem all to have been among the practicing religious. One more thing to think/worry about?

CS vetting dynamics....

...so, after excluding the 99+ percent of responses to the profile, those occasional likes, and so on, the rare long term writing back and forth ensues. Often more vetting is required, and it's all grist for the mill. In time, occasionally, someone finally has to admit to fewer likely possibilities than first thought. Still, several options remain. Quit as friends? My favorite is the friendly, helpful, thoughtful, intelligent ACQUAINTANCE. It amazes me that such occurs/endures. Perhaps the sharing over time explains it. But who knows? And in time, who really knows?
