The real voices behind Milli Vanilli...

In the late 1980's the duo of Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus hit the pop music scene under the name of Milli Vanilli. They were a duo of uber-handsome guys located in Germany that could sing and dance. Along with a string of hit songs with videos, Milli Vanilli were selling millions of records, making live performances and received lots of radio play.
The duo were so successful they were nominated for a Grammy Award for best new artists and won!
Everything was going good... perhaps too good. When interviewed, it was apparent they had strong accents that were undetected in their singing voices. Suspicions in the industry arose about them not being genuine, but so the tour dates and success was overwhelming.

It wasn't until the prerecorded music at a live performance skipped and Rob walked off stage. It was then confirmed Milli Vanilli had been lip-syncing all along.
aka "The Dream Is Over..."
The no little talent boys were tricked into contracts by the producer and the entire production was a fraud... the recorded voices weren't theirs. The actual singers weren't visually marketable, Fab and Rob were.

Years later, there are dozens of Milli Vanilli lip-syncing scandal videos explaining what happened. Here is one:

Digging up gun dirt...

Two stories about gun maker Daniel Defense popped into the news today.
Days after the pandemic fund opened, they received $3.1 million in government small business aid via the Paycheck Protection Program used to support it's 200 employees.

(I'm not sure how 200 employees qualifies as a small business, considering they are the largest privately owned firearms manufacturers in the country.)

The Twitter account of Daniel Defense reportedly had an advertisement photo of a young child holding a similar weapon used in the Uvalde mass shooting stating “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Interesting mindset... ya think?

Half Mast...

Driving to a few appointments today it appears that every American flag is being flown at half mast, as it should be.

Hanging Pence...

Back in the news is the story about Mike Pence not blocking the certification of the Electoral College vote. It appears Jonathan Karl 's book BETRAYAL The final act of the Trump show is being promoted.
Many of Trump's supporters were chanting "Hang Mike Pence" with a makeshift gallows fitted with a noose. Karl interviewed Trump about this and it's reported he defended those who chanted "Hang Mike Pence"
The only thing I see is Pence had no right/authority to block or overturn the election certification.

Ennery thee eighth...

In the 1960's Herman's Hermits did a song about marrying the widow next door who had been married to 7 Henry's before him making him Henry the eighth.
The song is a humorous flip to Henry VIII, King of England who had six marriages.

I've done blogs before about young widows on CS who are setting their selections to men 99 years of age. There are several thoughts about this. One is: They made a profit on the first one and finding another older guy has a higher percentage chance to meet a wealthy guy who won't be around too long!

Hmmm...

Muscle Shoals...

Muscle Shoals is a city in Alabama. It's also the name of a recording studio that formed in 1969 and has a list of artists who recorded strings of hit songs that's longer than my arm!
Who?
Artists like The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Tamiko Jones, Cher and Cat Stevens to name a few.

Months ago, I watched a documentary about Muscle Shoals and bookmarked it to use in a blog. "Oh, I need to get to it.." excuse was used too many times.
Today, gonelikethewimd commented on my Duane Allman blog and mentioned a song recorded at Muscle Shoals.

I'm crazy busy this week with drawings and bids for new work, but I'll sneak in a link to the Muscle Shoals video:

Nearly 2 hours but worth the time to watch/listen.
It shows the background to how so many hit songs were created.

A virus that kills cancer...

Clinical trials have begun on the virus Vaxinia that is said to kill cancer.
According to a Yahoo story:
"The virus itself has been engineered specifically to kill cancer cells. And, in previous animal trials, scientists have seen very promising results. These kinds of viruses have been a “smoking gun” in the fight against cancer for over a century."

This could be a future topic of discussion should test prove positive.
thumbs up

I'm guilty...

The CS blog community has a (relatively) recent arrival who writes some nice blogs and doesn't appear to have any personality quirks that are often found with members of online communities.
That said, I'm guilty of only reading her blogs and not being a contributor with comments.
My thoughts are many of you... like me, are holding back to contributing to her blogs.
Is it the material not relevant to me... maybe yes and maybe no.
Or is it 'blog apathy' from the group to someone they know little about?
That's what blogs are about... letting people know about you and the things you are interested in.
She did a marathon sweep of her blog comments last night and I'm curious to start reading her material with more interest.

Southerners call it a whoopin'

I must have been 12 or 13 years old when my father was pushing us along to get ready and go out. What was I doing? Probably watching TV.
He said "Get your pants, shoes and socks on"
I did EXACTLY what he said.
That's when I got a whoopin'

This could all have been avoided if he had told me to put on my pants, socks and shoes.

The 'other' TDS...

I'll wager you are all familiar with the acronym TDS. That stands for Trump Derangement Syndrome. It started right after Hillary lost the presidential election to Trump, despite having the popular vote. Question any part of the election and you are pinned with the badge of TDS.

Conservatives pull that up an anyone who disputes the election.

However... there exists another TDS that is exceeding the first TDS.
Yes, hard to believe... it's already in epidemic proportion on the blogs section of Connecting Singles.

Bring up anything negative about Trump and you are met with resistance from those who are affected by the TDS.

Talk about nepotism in the White House where he hires family members who have no experience in the positions they hold and BAM! the TDS is showing.
Talk about his businesses in foreign countries he ran during his presidency and BAM! the TDS is showing.
Talk about shady deals his attorney secured and BAM! the TDS is showing.

What you say?
Yes, this TDS is the Trump Defense Syndrome.

I'm thinking the same voting machines were used on Trump/Biden as Trump/Clinton election. Hmmm...

One caveman overheard talking to another caveman "Trump won, good machines. Trump lost, bad machines"

laugh

Let's face it, It's the TDS-20 and there is no vaccine.
