current politics
When it comes to politics, I try to keep an open mind. But, I do like to express how I feel when I see something. What do I mean when I say keep an open mind, primarily....I watch all the main news networks, Fox, CNN, and MSNBC.
There is only one that I have noticed lately that is breaking down the background of Trump's recent picks to fill important roles in his presidency.
The common theme I see going on is racism.
There is no doubt, Trump won.
With the way he won....was concerning to me.
now...
With who he is surrounding himself with...is even more concerning.
BTW...
I like that little story that he shared at one of his rallies...
The story where that lady picks up the ill snake along the road and brings it home to nurse it back to health. The snake ends up biting the lady and kills her. The snake says, "You knew I was a snake."

Yes we are! That is why I put the word.... etc.
You say:" Personally, I would like to hear your opinions. Not the opinions of others".....that is exactly how so many people respond, they are led by others opinion.
But I want also to extend what you said with, that most people talk about things, with no personal experience about the issue.....specially young people, that have minimal experience, are so very sure, that they know everything, when in fact they have now experience and only a little part of knowledge from one side of the aisle........to know better, you have to have experience from a more wider life and specially from the both side of the aisle.......earlier they had the Elders, but now a lot of things are governed by youngsters
If most of the manufacturing were done here in the USA it would cost too much to pay someone here to do it.
Besides the USA can afford to buy from Foreign countries cause they can purchase the goods cheaper and mark it up to make a profit.
When I was young, I thought I had an answer for every thing.
With experience behind me, I have questions.
But with all of that being said. One has to make a decision. Otherwise, nothing will be accomplished.
As I told the people I work with. "if you do not do any thing, because you are afraid of making a mistake, nothing will be accomplished"!
Not every thing will be as we wish. But we have the ability to change or to fix it.
When Nafta first came into the market, We all had good jobs. When China came into the market, they were cheaper than Mexico. Thus they grew immensely from that.
Today, there are no jobs. There for nothing to support any one with.
The people that are spending, are spending what they received in the past. At least for the common people. That wont last much longer.
No one else could meet our standards.
I also recall back to when General Motors wanted tax breaks or they were going to move from Michigan.I spoke to one of my neighbors who just happened to work one of the many GM plants who had told me during that time that GM were hauling semi loads of vehicles parts to Mexico. The For Sale signs went up on peoples front lawns. The last time I had visited Lansing,Mi was when I saw where some of the plants had been torn down and that the only things that were left were empty parking lots where the workers parked.
In the Industry, nothing has changed.
if the country loose jobs, because it is cheaper elsewhere, then you have to put up duty concessions to protect home made stuff, that's why free trade can not work well with Countries, that have clearly lower production costs or play with their currency, like China is doing......Trump is very right in this matter as in many other matters too.
What's sad bad is that people can't afford affordable health care, the interest rates on buying most things are so high up in the air.
I wonder how people can make ends meet.
How is your boat doing??
I an jealous. A few more years away for me. I am not going to the Caribbean though. I have some other places in mind.
Will he put them on lockdown or something.I don't see how he could force a company to stay in the USA if they don't choose to.
France brags about being coal free in a few more years. They went Necular!!????
As the plates keep tearing them selves apart, I see problems on the horizon.
One think that I find concerning is the verbose nature of LJ's posts supporting a person whom she does not even know. Her insidious mechanisms for mature conversation is laughable at best. She expects people to bow to her master (Mr. Narc) himself and show loyalty and respect when she was incapable of extending the same courtesies and respect to Obama. LJ, you say you were a professor. I would expect a more intelligent argument from you coming from the world of academia. But, I am also aware that that profession is rife with the narcissistic personalities you so promote. 'My way or the highway'.......
Lou Lou, your an admirable blogger and I trust you can see when the fight is more than just a fight.......
"We are the cleanest country in the world."
"Americans make up an estimated 5% of the world’s population. However, the US uses 25% of the world’s resources - burning up nearly 25% of the coal, 26% of the oil, and 27% of the world’s natural gas.
The Mississippi River carries an estimated 1.5 million metric tons of nitrogen pollution into the Gulf of Mexico each year, creating a “dead zone” in the Gulf each summer about the size of New Jersey.
Approximately 40% of the lakes in America are too polluted for fishing, aquatic life, or swimming.
Each year 1.2 trillion gallons of untreated sewage, stormwater, and industrial waste are dumped into US water."
On another note,I spent much time in Chico Ca. when my friend was going to Chico State. Who would have guessed the number 2 party town in the country. Many great memories from Chico....
Name 1 WHAT?

you know I don't like talking politics at all, but I just want to comment here, People are always saying they don't want Career Politicians, they want someone new, new changes, new, new, new! But they have to wonder, would they hire a Lawyer with no experience to represent them in court? Would they allow someone with no experience to operate on them, or would they go with an experienced surgeon? You see what I'm getting at? Politics requires some experience and know how. Some understanding of how the world works.
Now, you also know I have nothing against the Democratic or Republican party nor whatever other parties there is. I vote for whichever I feel their candidate and plan is best, or I think they can deliver or try to deliver.
Now, I'm not saying I'm a fan of Hillary, but I've definitely never, never been a fan of Trump. I never liked him nor his ways since way back, even before he got into politics. I know ole friends from New Jersey and other places that he jacked over. Pretty much conned them and others. So, no, not a fan of his. I don't believe him to be a man of change, for as far as I know, he never has been.
However, he won the election, and I respect the election process. Although, many of those who voted for him seem to enjoy rubbing that victory in everyone else's face over and over again.
As for me? I'll just wait and see where he and his administration go from here.
But one thing, he and all politicians have to remember. We, the people don't work for them, they work for us. United, together, we all work to keep America the best we can.
Just my opinion.
I sincerely believe he is a talented man and has the potential skills to make the U.S....and hopefully the world...a much better place than what it is today.
If you look at the big picture of the world, it really does need some help. What has been going on thus far does not seem to be doing the trick. Maybe Trump will surprise us.
Thanks all for the comments. I read them all and very informative.
