Ancient times

In ancient times some peoples sacrificed their children to the gods. I wonder were some threatened if they refused too do so.

Luke 2:8-12

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Terrific timely book....

In the Closet of the Vatican, by French open homosexual, F. Martel. Fits nicely in with the hypotheses I acknowledge in the memoirs. In particular, those reflective of modern genomics and the usual multi gene locus sources for behavioral preferences, modified by experience. On the behavioral spectrum, we are learning how some strong behaviors tend to sort with others, although most of this is at the stage of hard to test hypotheses. Methinks the treetop wanton choices of anonymous, repeated, unprotected sex that helped spread HIV AIDS, may well be linked to the choice of homosexuality, however influenced by the genome initially. At least for males, sure, we know of heterosexuals who may have a few conquests on the rare weekend. Don Juans. And more clinically, for the weaker sex, Nymphomaniacs. But nothing can come close to the behaviors in the baths, waysides or public restrooms. The multi dozen weekends. And so it is with many homosexual men in the R Catholic Church. This brave author, a reporter by calling, spent years interviewing functionaries of the Vatican, and claims a large proportion are admitted active homosexuals. When the officers act together, oh ye astute peebles, no surprise that the troops follow suit. And remain protected. And are in denial. And blame their victims. And may self select into the craft, in the first place. I suspect much of these things are communicated, wink and nod, during seminary days. Clericalism. And so on. Celibacy doctrine is rare, in most western religious traditions, and wasn't part of the Church for centuries. Perhaps till the faggots took over. Lots more. All sort of fits together, no? Including the frantic PC push to have these choices seen on a normalcy par with heterosexual sexuality.

Rather than trying to make good life we have to try to make our death beautiful.

During whole life we are trying to make good life, but we are not thinking about our good death. I think the death is more painic then life.
So if we try to make our death beautiful then our life will be more beautiful.
And this can be done by good karmas during whole life.

IS HEAVEN LIKE STEPFORD.

Could the story of Stepford wives be an insight into what Heaven is really like? This would satisfy the needs of everyone and we could all lead natural happy lives. No more conflict. All needs met. A paradise wouldn't you say? head banger smitten blushing

Flower power

I was walking along a street near my home and my gaze was drawn toward the bright yellow flowers planted in the troughs at the side of the road. As I got close I was curious as to whether the delicate flowers had any scent and so bent down to find out, and yes there was a sweet aroma. I took a further deep inhalation to absorb more of this precious scent amidst the strongly polluted air around, full of engine gases and then a thought occurred to me. These little flowers must be pumping out this fragrance all the time, not just when I stopped by to sniff them. And then I was struck by the significance of this – twenty-four hours a day these small delicate plants are emitting a strong aroma but where can it come from? We humans of course emit our own particular aroma (smell) individual to each one of us, just as we do heat, and this is because we have a beating heart and a powerful system which converts food to energy. But what about the flower, it doesn’t have a beating heart and its roots sit in soil which has a completely different aroma. So how does a flower generate such a strong energy? Of course it is not done for us humans to enjoy, it is done to attract the insects which will pollinate it but nevertheless this is quite a feat.
This is just one of the wonders of life which we probably spend little of our time admiring. In fact how much of our wonderful world do we take time to really appreciate?

Smash That Idol (Part 1)

Embedded image from another site

A compilation Jan 27, 2015

You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.—Exodus 20:4–51

*

Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.—1 John 5:212

*

When we hear the word “idol” we often think of statues and objects reminiscent of those worshipped by pagans in ancient cultures. However, the idols of the 21st century often bear no resemblance to the artifacts used thousands of years ago. Today, we have replaced the “golden calf” with an insatiable drive to reach the top of the corporate ladder or with a myriad of other passionate pursuits. And, sadly, those who aggressively pursue goals and dreams, altogether excluding God, are often admired for their individualism and drive. In the end, however, it doesn’t matter what empty pleasure we chase after or to what or whom we bow down, the result is the same—separation from the one true God.

Understanding contemporary idols can help us to understand why they prove to be such a powerful temptation. An idol can be anything we place ahead of God in our lives, anything that tugs at our heart more than God does, such as possessions, careers, relationships, hobbies, sports, entertainment, goals, greed, addictions to alcohol/drugs/gambling/pornography, etc. Many of these things we idolize can be very good, such as relationships or careers. Yet Scripture tells us that whatever we do, we are to “do it all for the glory of God,”3 and that we are to serve God only.4 Unfortunately, God is often nowhere to be found as we zealously pursue our idols. Worse yet, the significant amount of time we often spend in these idolatrous pursuits leaves us with little or no time to spend with the Lord.

… The joys of this world for which we too often seek will never satisfy the human heart. As Solomon beautifully conveys in the book of Ecclesiastes, apart from a right relationship with God, life is futile. We were created in God’s image5 and designed to worship and glorify Him, as He alone is worthy of our worship. God has placed “eternity in man’s heart,”6 and a relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to fulfill this longing for eternal life.—S. Michael Houdmann7

How many have found it easy to have your idols smashed? If you have, you’re unusual! For most people, it’s pretty hard to take. We are tempted to say, “Now listen, Lord, can’t we just keep this little idol here? I worshipped this idol for many years and it was very dear to me and I thought it was great. Now that I’ve found out it isn’t great, can’t I just keep it in one little back corner of the house someplace? After all, I spent a lot of money on it and it took a lot of my time. If it’s not good for much else, if it’s not useful and I can’t worship it anymore, can’t I at least just keep it around someplace?”

Don’t you find this true with a lot of things? Don’t you find this true in your own heart? “Lord, why do I have to give this up? It’s not so bad—and it used to be pretty good. I used to think it was great. It may not be useful, but at least maybe it’s harmless! Can’t I just at least keep it back in the corner someplace?”

Then, wham! Just like that, God comes along and smashes that idol. “I will have no other gods before me.”8 Nothing short of right is right. And when you find out that it isn’t just right and that idol gets smashed, it hurts. It’s not easy to take. (Continued - Final)
