CuspofMagic: combating agression with agression - removes choice- deterrent promotes CHOICE

What deters a criminal more than the though of getting shot or having fire returned?

--- We intelligent beings have not really explored the deterrent factor. Our energies to the most part have been in favour of agression techniques/vehicles which in itself breeds agressive tendencies. We must start somewhere - and in our own backyard is .This I beleive will evolve (as we evolve) and by diversify into placing/directing our energies in working toward solving our current and other unforseen problems of our existance- within harmony our combined energies are a more powerful force that any agression vehicle

In other words, if you leave your valuables on the front porch the criminal won't break in....

Guns can be good ! just like a knife or duct tape in the hands of the wrong people, they are only a tool like a hammer . Guns are what allow us to speek with the freedon we have now. people don't seem to think that most of the tech we have now was designed to kill . Or for military purposes. Nuclear power the tv , In fact the intranet were all designed for the military we need to teach people or show people they are safe and there will be no reason for guns . People fear crime the Government and just the people they fear are tryint to take away there freedon if we have a government that will protect and make the people feel safe they wouldn't want guns .

After reading all these posts, i found out exactly what i was worried about.I have found out that the number of people who are anti-gun are much lesser than the number of pro-gun people, and yet, the pro-gun people are trying so desperately to counter the arguments of those very few anti-gun people here on CS. And it really reminds of those little kids who, out of desperation, cry and plead to buy/keep certain toys despite their parents don't want to buy or keep them. so why this kind of childish desperation to keep your "toys" when you already know and claim that nobody, not even the government, can really take your "toys" away from you?laugh

It seems that the members of the National Socialist Party try to dictate what it is everyone should do and those right of the center tend to defend what they do.

It's not like gun owners say that everyone has to own a gun.... matter of fact we law abiding gun owners would rather have just as many anti's out there so the criminal element have easy targets to go after and will leave us alone.

Zeelander: People of the US are not forced to own a gun. Matter of fact the laws on the books are such that they really discourage the acquiring of one. A person who does choose to own a gun must first jump through hoops just to be permitted to own one.

I would rather have the choice to own or not to own a gun as opposed to just not being able to own.... You could say I am Pro-Choice on this subject.

most countries your allowed to own guns

its just reserved for the majority who are responsible with them

I won't hesitate to use my gun if someone comes in my house that doesn't belong here. Is that everyone's cup of tea? No. I grew up around guns and knew how to shoot before I could (legally) drive. I'm a single mom with protection. kiss

whole different mindset here in AU for gun owners

majority of gun owners(93%)cite hunting or farming as the reason why they own firearms

less than 7% for protection purposes

and a minute .03% for fear of invasion or fear of government

If were going to talk about other "words" then- I suppose semantics/etc therein/out are better than bullets- after all "the criminal is someones'son/daughter that has two arms and two legs (depending ie of where he/she lives) and at the end of the universe they are still our brothers and sisters

Let me get this straight... you are condoning the act of theft as long as no one is hurt physically?

What's worth more, a 10 year old VCR, or a human life?

velvetUG: yup

And as for you ... there is never ever a reason for anyone to ever reply to your comments since all you need to do is to dictate what others do since you can't even run your own life successfully.

So take this as a last reply.

Come on, that is a stupid question.... of course a human life. Why would anyone choose to steal a 10 year old VCR?
