Zeelander: You just hit the nail on the head. You will only mess with a defenseless person who can't defend him/herself. Baseball bat to the knees is your style?

Here you go, save yourself the trip

Advanced handgun Training Part one

Take off the safety catch
Point in general direction of target
Squeeze trigger
When it goes bang, check to see if the target is dead
Reset safety catch
Oh never point at yourself, it may fatally kill you or worse

just saw that there are 32 pages on this thread and don't have time to read them all. For the life of me I just can't understand why anyone wiuld want to carry a gun and passionately defend their "right to bear arms'.It's a form of madness if you ask me. I avoid Americans here in Vietnam running around talking at the top of their voices about the "right to defend themselves". They are usually Vietnam Veterans who didn't exactly let the Vietnamese defend themselves. Anyway, they got their asses kicked good and proper. HO HO HO HO HO Chi Minh. HO HO HO. Bear arms at your peril boys and girls!!!There's something wrong with any society that needs "to bear arms".
I come from Northern Ireland.

Advanced training....

Never take off the safety because my safety is my finger
practice allows ability to accurately shoot from the hip
Pull the trigger in rapid succession 13 times or until the magazine is empty.
Depress magazine release with trigger finger and insert fresh magazine
make sure room and facility is clear of other intruders
Call a carpet cleaning company because 26 holes in an individual will leave a might big blood stain
Spend an hour in the phone book looking up 911 to make sure the intruder is no longer a viable life form

Make popcorn.

I don't have time to read your post because I am sure it is and ignorant one as the rest of them and for that matter don't really care whether you live or dies.

i do not know if this point of view has been expressed, but i just don't see myself reading 30 some pages to find out.

let us say i may or may not choose to own a gun. i like that to be a choice for law abiding citizens. criminals by definition do not follow laws.
if i don't own a gun, i still sleep much better at night knowing a criminal is not looking down my street thinking that the odds are really good that he might be the only one
on my block with a gun.

Do you mean that a criminal might NOT be the only one with a gun?

If this is the case, you are right. Criminals tend to take advantage of those who will not potentially fight back. Most don't want to walk into a situation that they may be carried out feet first.

Yes it does... so the choice of owning a gun is a means of combating aggression and promoting self protection.

Thank you for making that point.

being former military i am VERY pro-gun, pro-sword, pro-knife, beer bottle, whatever. I firmly believe that you have a right to protect yourself and what you believe in. the only thing i cannot stand is idiots who do not know how to lock guns away or treat them with the respect they deserve and some unfortunate child ends up hurt or killed. the one thing i will say about criminals- if you decide to be a criminal and end up trying say...a home invasion and that person is not a complete pu%%y then be prepared to face those consequences- i agree with everyone who said shoot now and ask questions later- very mad
