I was raised on a ranch where rattlesnakes were prevalent and they were nasty to both humans and animals. I was brought up to handle BB guns and .22's alongside my four brothers and sisters. We were not allowed to touch the weapons without parental/grandparental supervision and if we even thought of disobeying, we were punished firmly. The weapons were kept in a gun safe and we didn't know the combination. Then in high school I was on the ROTC rifle team all four years with the medals to prove that I'm an expert marksman. Now mind you, I was the only girl on a Hispanic male dominated team. I fought not only stereotype, but earned their respect. I'm still friends with them 24 years later.
I never did learn to like rattlesnake meat.
