purr4mance: well, thanks for one man's perception of the situation.

Voting remain is the same as voting for Hillary, mate. That will make life in America easier for the next 5 years and none of your kids will thank you. Deal with the Borg and you do so at your own peril.

i haven't been able to put my finger on the pulse of your potential leadership, yet.

for that reason, at this time, i am unable to access just how your officials are going to move brexit forward.

your new leadership will determine success or failure. hopefully they will be able to project the confidence required to the public.

what i do know, is the choices we have here in the states.

and i'm sure donald trump would be a disaster as many others think. changes are required and someone needs to step up but donald isn't that person just like hillary shouldn't be the first woman who should occupy the office because she is in fact a woman. she has too many issues and is another unqualified individual to move us forward.

there is an evolution of politics taking place but we have the wrong candidates or potential leadership to move us forward here in the states.

You seem to forget the public voted for Brexit, the confidence was already there. It will work, and the British public want it.

Which [art of popular vote don't you understand??

Yes they are the wrong candidates. A Trump stalled by congress would be the best lesson. The establishment needs to learn the compromise between the Borg and the people, they've yet to of this, and without a credible option the best thing to do is nothing at all.

Here I'd like to see Theresa May - so long as her seriousness and professionalism is more than a carefully-nurtured public image - or even Stephen Crabb as next PM. Michael Gove is Thatcher mk II and if it was up to me I'd have him back as secretary of state for education, but no more than this.

purr4mance: one would have a difficult time discussing the melting pot that is america without first understanding that this mix immigrated from many, many places around the globe, including arabs.

the europeans weren't the only ones to settle in america. so, to have a discussion about one single group doesn't begin to tell the unique story that is the assimilation of all the different groups that built this power house.

if you want to compare what i think is the biggest difference between what is now going on in europe and one group of immigrants who settled in america, i would say back then, the european immigrants a long with all the other nationalities realized the tremendous opportunity they were given. an opportunity that if given the chance they would certainly make something of it. and today, looking back, i would say they succeeded.

what is now taking place over in your neck of the woods, i can only go by what i read. from what i understand, the immigrants are taking the opportunity to get their benefits before earning them. crossing borders shouldn't be a qualifier. perhaps some money and health benefits for women and children for 6 months, then their cut off. 6 months is plenty of time to find work.

multi-cultural works because the country i live in is proof of the fact. for example, during the first wave of arab immigration men outnumbered women 4 to 1. causing a high intermarriage rate. a 1990 census showed 80 percent of us born arab-americans had non-arab spouses.

It is not fair either to talk about the Europeans as a single group, we are not. The Europeans were the first to settle in the States though, right?

I competely agree with your statement on taking advantage of benefits without earning them. It is completely insane of our politicians to equate someone who has never contributed anything to someone who has. Well, with the immigrants claiming asylum it is even worse - they are the ones in a better situation than the natives in terms of getting gvt. help.

It is interesting how Denmark tries to cope with that:

http://www.refinery29.com/2016/01/101231/refugee-crisis-denmark-seize-valuables

Other European countries should do the same, too, then the word would spread that you actually have to work to live and the numbers would definitely go down, just like the number of African immigrants to China:

http://qz.com/720816/gambian-migrants-are-returning-from-china-and-telling-their-compatriots-not-to-go/?utm_source=YPL&yptr=yahoo

As for the third point - multi culti working - in 2010 Merkel herself said it doe snot work in Europe. Whether it works or not is irrelevant, and I fail to see why the "liberals" are so dead set on claiming that every society has to be multi culti, otherwise it is no good???? Well, not every society only the Western world.

We have seen that a homogenous society/country, such as these in Europe, have worked more than well, so why insist on something that has not worked here?

And your last point about non-Arab spouses: there isn't an imbalance of genders in Europe that we absolutely need Arab men for European women, on the contrary, this immigration of men from ME has created a gender imbalance in Sweden, read an article about it about a week or two ago. Additionally, non-Arab women convert, their children have to be Muslim as their father is - it is must for them, what does this create? Just like that imam from Turkey said: we will make babies with their women and take over the land.

p.s. I have spent some time in Texas and have seen that everyone is very aware of races, that the mingling stops at a certain point. But even if it doesn't - it is the States, the country that was created by destroying the native population and immigrants taking over. Europe is different...unless the purpose of this ivasion is to destroy the natives....again

Pur, because we are here, we do experience the EU absurdities!

Why do you think that when we point out the long-term aspect we are irrational?
Not everything is about the money - the people of Britain wanted their country back, and that is the point.

I do share some doubts about Article 50 being envoked, could Puting be right when he questions whether the UK politicians will actually go forward with the divorce.

Tony Blair did not want to rule out another referendum, can it happen?

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this news from Austria: the highest court rules that the presidential elections will have to be repeated:

Confidence/morale is always important and it is absolutely everything to the lowest status. Confidence can move mountains. However, ability comes into play the higher up you go. Knowledge moves mountains to where they're needed.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says there will be no turning back from Britain's decision to leave the European Union after holding talks with Prime Minister David Cameron in Brussels. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an EU summit late on 28 June, Merkel said it was not a time for sorrow or anger and that Europe must simply deal with the situation it has been confronted with.

"I want to say very clearly tonight that I see no way to reverse this (Brexit)," the German leader was quoted as saying by Reuters.

"We all need to look at the reality of the situation. It is not the hour of wishful thinking."

Merkel added that her talks with Cameron had been "serious" but "friendly".

European leaders will continue to hold crisis talks in the Belgian capital on 29 June – but without Cameron. It is the first time the UK will not be represented at an EU summit in over 40 years.

At that meeting it was said if the UK wanted to trade with Europe in any form they would have to accept free movement of EU members. Not one without the other.

The Freedom Party candidate, Norbert Hofer, lost the election to the former leader of the Greens, Alexander Van der Bellen, by just 30,863 votes or less than one percentage point

'Rules broken'

In two weeks of hearings, lawyers for the Freedom Party argued that postal ballots were illegally handled in 94 out of 117 districts.

It alleged that thousands of votes were opened earlier than permitted under election rules and some were counted by people unauthorised to do so.

The party also claimed to have evidence that some under-16s and foreigners had been allowed to vote.

Indeed a pleasant surprise,
when the result of the elections were announced it already looked dodgy, less than one percentage point difference.
Some people got really scared the Freedom party will win which meant only one thing, awakening of the masses...
If the Highest court annulled the elections, there were definitely manipulated...

Article 50 probably won't be invoked this year.

The 2 front runners for leader of the Tory Party elections, May and Gove, have either stated this outright, Gove, or intimated such, May.

Thank for your words Purr4mance yet it is not about taking sides but to analyze the consequences of the Brexit. Here are some facts and scenarios given by experts.

* The European Union (EU) is the UK’s largest trade partner. Around a half of the UK’s trade is with the EU. EU membership reduces trade costs between the UK and the EU. This makes goods and services cheaper for UK consumers and allows UK businesses to export more. ?
* ?  Leaving the EU (‘Brexit’) would lower trade between the UK and the EU because of higher tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade. In addition, the UK would benefit less from future market integration within the EU. The main economic benefit of leaving the EU would be a lower net contribution to the EU budget. ?

* ?  Our analysis first quantifies the ‘static’ effects of Brexit on trade and income. In an ‘optimistic’ scenario, the UK (like Norway) obtains full access to the EU single market. We calculate this results in a 1.3% fall in average UK incomes (or £850 per household). In a ‘pessimistic’ scenario with larger increases in trade costs, Brexit lowers income by 2.6% (£1,700 per household). ?

* ?  All EU countries lose income after Brexit. The overall GDP fall in the UK is £26 billion to £55 billion, about twice as big as the £12 billion to £28 billion income loss in the rest of the EU combined. Non-EU countries experience some smaller income gains.
?
* ?  If the UK unilaterally removed all its tariffs on imports from the rest of the world after Brexit, UK incomes fall by 1% in the optimistic case and 2.3% in the pessimistic case.
?
* ?  In the long run, reduced trade lowers productivity. Factoring in these effects substantially increases the costs of Brexit to a loss of 6.3% to 9.5% of GDP (about £4,200 to £6,400 per household). ?

* ?  Being outside the EU means that the UK would not automatically benefit from future EU trade deals with other countries. This would mean missing out on the current US and Japanese deals, which are forecast to improve real incomes by 0.6%. ?

* ?  After Brexit, would the UK obtain better trade deals with non-EU countries? It would not have to compromise so much with other EU states, but the UK would lose bargaining power as its economy makes up only 18% of the EU’s ‘single market’. ?

* ?  It is unclear whether there are substantial regulatory benefits from Brexit. The UK already has one of the OECD’s least regulated product and labour markets. ‘Big ticket’ savings are supposedly from abolition of the Renewable Energy Strategy and the Working Time Directive – both of which receive considerable domestic political support in the UK.

What are going to be UK moves after the Brexit.
