Aragorn11: Not surprised the BOE are doing this but the average household boorowings in the UK is already very high. Needs stimilus I suppose.

The Sterling situation will be of serious concern, considering the relative stability of the Euro.

Quantitative Easing it is a catch 22-more debt to push the economy and UK national debt is almost 100% of GDP. other measures will have to be used, and Carney will use all tools.

yes, the Sterling situation is in more dangerous area as is open for speculative "attacks".

new Greece in a long term?I dont think so, but some concerns.

Carney seems to have reacted well, but ultimately the Markets will decide laugh

Maybe in the long term but Italy could be a new Greece in the short term and it will be interesting how the EU handle it with Brexit in limbo.

Italy's banking problems,(bad debts), is just an appetizer, as we have the Deutsche Bank “next episodes” to digest. Euro has its problem too.

Uk economy has a great dependency on financial services on its GDP (+- 15 % ), and the service sector is about 80%. Carney will need lots of “tricks” to guarantee there will be no excess of money and inflation growth- (Greece).

“Big banks” are nearly half a trillion dollars in the hole”. Since January, 20 of the world’s bigger banks have lost a quarter of their combined market value. “ According to WS . looks like a déjà vu.

best is to just "keep going", and enjoy the sun.

Financial services will be hit hard with a Brexit. Ireland could capitalise due to being English speaking, and could be attractive due to low Corporation tax and there have been rumours since. We shall see.

Italy definitely of concern and hope the EU take the lead as opposed to the Big Banks, doubt it though.

Meanwhile Leadsom has shot herself in the fit claiming to be more suitable for the job of PM due to her being a Mother doh

Theresa May, a Remainer, looks likely to be next PM of the UK.

Have got to say the leading Brexiters have either resigned, been shafted, or shafted themselves and I doubt the Brexiters would be happy with this.

Capricorn143: The EU is about control not free trade:

"the European Union is not primarily about free trade for mutual benefit, but about political integration and economic harmonisation, in which free trade is just the reward for going along with the political ambitions of Brussels....

Is leaving the European Union with its plans for ever-greater harmonisation leading to a political, fiscal, and social union really “desertion”? Is the desire to be an independent, sovereign country, yet still participate in free trade with some of the world's largest economies, cherry-picking? As Murray Rothbard has pointed out, “genuine free trade doesn’t require a treaty,” and if it does not even require a treaty, it is quite clear that it certainly does not require a political union that harmonises away the competition responsible for many of the benefits of free trade.

This, however, seems lost on many politicians and bureaucrats in the EU, as well as many of its intellectual supporters at universities and newspapers across Europe, even when they did make the effort to mention the common market as a major benefit of remaining a member of the union."

Anarchism requires no treaties at all. We're leaving the EU, this doesn't mean we need to start taking pointers from philosophy's Mr Bean.

And then there was 1.

Theresa May to be installed as Prime Minister of the UK on Wednesday after Leadsom dropped out of race.

May, who advocated Remain, has vowed to implement Brexit, and has traditionally been tough on immigration.

Will be interesting.

“go home vans” will be replaced by "go home trucks",or "go home bins"

I’m curious about who the Brexiters are going to blame in future if things go wrong... May or EU?

I'm fairly certain Theresa has already appointed two others to(unofficially)do the actual job of foreign secretary.

What a dark horse she's turned out to be with this cabinet. I knew Theresa was a little Stalin both as a person and as a politician, there's a wily one there. And it's not such a bad thing as Stalin was a great negotiator who stole half of Europe. As part of a Brexit deal there is now an outside chance that we'll annex Normandy.
