Believe In You

A breath can be a struggle
When the heart lies on the floor
So easily your dreams can fade
Some leave forever more

Your world can lose its colours
The brightness disappears
And everything seems muted
When listening through your tears

Weakness forms a part of you
Its an effort for the mind
To comprehend the damage done
When love leaves you behind

But willingness and self respect
Along with good old pride
Will see you through another day
The pain will soon subside

Find a way to hold yourself
Stand true to all you are
Believe you can attain new breath
To reach is not that far

For within,we all are special
And deserve the right to be
Uncompromised within ourselves
Untouched,forever free

How do I

How do I
Know what to say
When you look at me
In that special way?
How do I know
Where to draw the line
When you breach my defences
Every time?
How do I know
What not to do
When you smile and say
"But I don't love you"?
How do I know
When it's time to go
And not look back
When I love you so?
How do I
Stop loving you
Needing you
Missing you?
How do I?
Do I?
I ....

Crescent Moon

She came to your side
In the dim light of the crescent moon
She hesitated and tried
Not to be eager and arrive too soon

To a bench under the tree
In the local park where love had grown
It was you she went to see
Forsaking all her family and home

You hugged in the dark
Your love pure but guilt in your souls
Love and lust in the park
But in the end t'was hearts in control

In hushed tones you talked
While considering your lovers' fate
With hands held you walked
Dreading the decisions you must make

Frantic hugs and you kissed
As two lonely souls made a decision
For family's sake love dismissed
Each feelings will be held in submission

She slid from your side
In the dim light of the crescent moon
Your fingers slowly slid by
Only memories now...In the afternoon

End of the road......

Locked in my mind, with darkness dressed in light
Hard to see the end, but the end is now in sight
My efforts are worn, my heart cant take the knock
Now we are broken, after once a solid rock

Its the cold feeling, that makes it feel so low
Now the signs are clear, its time to get to go
Look into the distance, with a one way track
A single ticket, fading into the crack

I look in the mirror, and ask who are you
Once full of spirit, and once even true
I have my memories, which can go either way
I need my dusty pillow, to rest here and lay

This feeling of hurt, and the torture of hate
Was never on the menu, never booked in my fate
Its going to be rough, but its what needs to take place
Its just so devestating, how so much is now waste......

ANOTHER BLEEDING HEART

October 12, 1982

A painful truth befalls me
Nagging ache, flesh and bone
A torrent of emotions...
to find oneself alone

A question of devotion...
of promises revered
Yet another bleeding heart
Need face what once was feared

Step aside that love may pass
Surrender or accept
A space forever empty..
one's pain forever kept

If only there were comfort
A shortcut through the grief
If hearts were more resilient...
if love fulfilled belief

Yet another bleeding heart
Cannot forgive the crime
Understanding must embrace
The healing hands of time...

Mishima

In Japan he led a life free of fear
A descendant of the samurai.
A life brief like a firework rocket
Exploding in the sky only to disappear...

Yokio Mishima's life shined like sun and steel
Writing, theater, temple of body and action,
Even bodybuilding three days per week,
Aware of words before flesh in a life surreal.

His pen was far mightier than katana sword
The divine wind carried his spirit away,
To a sea of fertility along with death poem
Through ritual suicide ending life to his own accord...

Mishima, the spirit of the samurai bows before you
Feudal lords rule your land no more.
We understand that true beauty attacks, robs and finally destroys
In poetry with a splash of blood even in a failed coup...

Last Goodbye

Love can be a sinister thing
Like listening to church bells ring
While you are stoned
Why can't we just be ourselves
And be like no one else
Who has ever come and gone
Why try to fake a smile
Knowing all the while
That happiness isn't there
Is it not better to have loved and lost
Be it whatever the cost
Than to have false memories to share
See you left me on one wounded knee
Your words constantly severing
Every valve in my heart
Should've known we wouldn't last
Figured it out after my fourth bypass
That we're better being apart
So this is my last goodbye
No more tears left to cry
I've shed them all
At least I'll leave with my pride
And my head held high
No longer will I fall...
(For your lies)

Banksia (one night stand)

When I was young I got out on the piss*
To meet head-on whatever came my way
No internet back then - I'd be remiss
Well so it was then back and "in the day"
On the hunt to find that little miss
Who would go on to prove an easy lay
Out late at night again with all this boozing
In circumstance not wholly of my choosing.

On this occasion now I was nineteen
And drinking in a pub at Banksia**
I saw a girl like someone in a dream
Like a sailor sighting land, I sighted her
Her hair was blonde and permed (or so it seemed)
All I could think of now was bedding her
Or caught out on a limb to crash and burn?
Sometimes it seems some people never learn.

I went up to this girl and started talking
I introduced myself (tipsy not drunk)
To shyness overcome I was inventing
What I thought she'd like to hear from a young punk
My conversation must be interesting
(Or quickly would tonight's prospect be sunk)
We talked of this and that and then the other
She asked for a drink - I bought her another.

Thus another young man winds up in bed
With another on a list of conquests
(And nine times out of ten with a sore head
The morning after such long nightly quests)
Back in my room we both our clothes did shed
(That is to say, we quickly both undressed)
Though to this day, I still say its a shame
For the life of me, I can't recall her name.

No prize for guessing now what happened next
This kind of love is a mere necessity
As quickly in the sheets, we jumped betwixt
So there it was - we both now had our way
A type of love and lust were intermixed
(I write this now but from my memory)
And even now, I still say its a shame
When to this day I can't recall her name!

SILENT CLUES.....

Thoughts drift, to a special time
Contented together, human vines
No love could linger, that we knew
Imminent parting, silent clues

You walked away, but could not leave
Eyes and action, could not deceive
Gradually, reality set the scene
Acceptance, what could have been

Struggle faded, as time passed
Fate controller, our future cast
Rotation of time, new events
Hope granted, new dreams sent

Whatever outcome, emotions confirmed
Through daily life, a world turns
Butterfly flutters, within a hollow
One step at a time, side-steps-sorrow

Pandora's box, with hidden depths
Waits to be opened, can one expect
Love's fire's, still burning true
Or fizzled-faded, in situations new.....

Name calling

I have my eyes on the horizon
I ain’t ever looking back
Feeling free with the wind beneath my wings
It’s time to cut me some slack
A new day is now dawning
I feel the morning breeze
And although I am still yawning
Today is going to be with ease
For all that was old is new again
I have a burning flame
And when it burns up high enough
I won’t call out your name
For you will only put it out
And fill my eyes with tears
Something I should have learnt long ago
Instead of taking all these years
But now it’s over and done with
I’ve cleaned the dust up from the floor
And the next name I’ll be calling out
Will never be yours... No-more!
