A special someone

Ther was a special somone, who made me feel like gold:
and when our dream world ended, the tears were hard to hold.
We shared a special gift, thats forbidden from above:
But the gift we gave each other, was given out of love.
Our talks and times together, and walks out in the rain:
Left a scar of past by memories, and a heart thats filled with pain.
That certain day we talked, i knew that i'dd soon cry:
For silence enveloped our thoughts, and this was our goodbye.

Oh Blessed Numbness..

She walks along a rigid path,
On eggshells she knows she must tread..
Where she once dreamt of quiet walks along a romantic beach,
On sandpaper she now walks instead.
In the beginning it was wonderful
No grey skies to to darken her path
But now most days are spent in constant fear
As the main target of his wrath.
And so she goes on day after day ..
And she wonders just what went wrong
She did everything just right or so she thought..
Did all she could do to just get along.
One day she tired of always trying
To be just what he wanted her to be
No matter what she did it was never enough
She longed to loosen the chains and be free
Now she walks in quiet solitude
Blessed numbness fills most of her day
She smiles laughs and cries in all the right places
While trying to convince everyone she's ok.

Are You As Lonely?

As the night grows silent,
The room seems bare and empty,
Since you have gone away.

Lying in the dark I wonder,
If you are as lonely as I,
If your bed is as empty.

I turn on my face,
For I cannot stand to look,
At the mocking emptiness.

Poem with no name

Love tapped lightly upon my door the other day
she said...
'It's me. I have come to stay
how your soul is sad and grey
I will show you a different way'
she said...
but mistrusting, I turned away.

'You will see, this time it's different from before'
she said...
as she walked, her long white gown brushed the floor
'Trust me, it really is all right
she said...
her hair was fair and long and her gaze was bright
so I followed her, kept her within my sight.

I came to believe whatever she said
she wore a silver band about her head
she slept upon a white feather bed.
'Believe, I won't ever leave'
She said...

But one day I awoke and called her name
only silence replied
I called again
But just the same

I ran to her room sobbing with fear
I saw at once she was no longer here
her wardrobe had been emptied, her drawer was bare
and on the dresser lay a long, golden hair.
I lay on the bed not knowing what to do
there on the rug was a small silver shoe.

Then downstairs the door slammed hard
'I am back' he shouted, 'so don't be so f''ing mard!
His face was livid, dark, lined and grey
'Do you think I would ever go away?'
He said...
I am back to stay.

My Greatest Friend

You're always on my mind.
I know I left you behind
for acts of selfish bliss.
Now there's a void in me,
a hole in which you can't see
the darkening abyss.

I've come to know
you've always been my greatest friend.
From within my soul,
looked in your eyes and said that I
would be there for you
'til the very end.
But strayed and sinned,
Now I've made amends.

See what we can create?
Three precious gifts that my fate
has seemed to limit me.
The years are flying by.
It brings a tear to my eye,
progression I don't see.

I've come to learn
I'm missing the best parts of me.
Wheels fail to turn.
My incompletion pulls me down
toward the ground.
I'll fall eventually.
Was flying free,
But found gravity.

So are you happy now?
I just don't understand how
I'm easily replaced.
If I don't take a stand,
resolve the matters at hand,
I'm sure I'll be erased.

Although you've moved on,
you'll always be my greatest friend.
I hate that you're gone.
Look in my eyes and know that I
Will always be here
'til the very end.
These words I send
To my greatest friend.

About this poem:
This was actually a song I wrote to my ex wife. It explains how I realized later that I made a mistake after breaking it off with her for selfish reasons. We had three kids together, and they stayed with her after our split. The song tells how much I've missed out on in their lives from not being with them all the time. You miss a lot just being a weekend and holiday dad. Near the end of the song it shows how she moved on with her life and how I felt that we were done for good. One thing that we've kept through all of it though is our friendship, and we still remain best friends to this day. :)

Sitting on the tailgate of his Chevy

Sitting on the tailgate of your truck
I just cant believe my good luck
There is a slight breeze rustling through the trees
And blanket of stars is all we see
As the lighting bugs light up the sky
I hold your hand and feel so content I could sigh
As nature plays its tune
You reach over and kiss me and none to soon
I fell in love with you that night under a blanket of stars
and a single moon

The Lie

A year has gone by, but the pain wont go away.
I had to tell a lie that day....I met someone else.
Someone who would except me, wouldnt neglect me, or reject me.
The lie really wasn't a lie. I met someone.....I did but The connection, affection and love making, just wasn't the same way.
It hurts when i think about it, the lie i said to you that day. Why couldn't i just accept it, and respect it, for what it was. Instead of trying to change it, rearrange it, all because.
I was in love....

O

Empty space..

All is lost..

Everything has died..

Since you've gone..

**~... I Wonder ...~**

I wonder where it all went wrong
When did this love fade away
It seemed a perfect match to be
But yet it did not stay

Friends and lovers true in heart
The good and bad times shared
I thought our love would hold us tight
Emotions were never spared

But now we stand a world apart
With tears welled in our eyes
Not knowing now what to say
For fear it would be lies

Time to say good bye my love
Turn and walk away
I’ll save the memory of my dreams
To relive another day

That tender spot deep inside
I’ll carry for years to come
And know that once I had true love
A joy only known to some

A thought..

Now that I love her
it is a longing
to become as one,
perhaps it is true
according to Plato
God in antiquity
split us in two...

Wandering this world
seeking her soul,
I do not desire
a lightness of being,
only to become as fire
with the half that was lost..

For love is
to find
the missing half
of our
fragmented soul...
