Have you heard...?

Have you heard…?
Tell me, have you heard what people say
To those whose loved ones pass away,
And the pain that won’t allay,
Persist for years and years?
Get over it!

Seriously, have you heard what some allege
About their vows when they did pledge
To love until a ripe old age,
Till Death erase their cares?
Don’t believe it!

Sadly, I have heard that love can die
With little warning it slips by…
In life, in death - I can’t tell why -
And leaves behind such tears.
I’ve seen it.

About this poem:
Love can die for different reasons. Two reasons are the physical loss of a loved one and the emotional loss of a 'once-loved' one. Both can be traumatic.

Unrequited Love

A heart full of love
given: expecting the same
but waiting in vain

Our Best ... Our Heart ...

We can try our best.... like I really do ....
But it seems , many times,
the one we most badly want,
we simply don' t get to keep ...
And with a heavy sigh,
before the ache gets to feel too deep,
that hopeful heart is, once more, put to sleep ...

For each instance,
it eats at one's resolve ...
The steps a little slower,
the smiles with less sparkle , a bit fainter ...
The laughs grow fewer ,
the trace of sadness in one's eyes
become undeniably clearer ...

Yet there is precious life to live productively,
Remaining years that
can still be spent more meaningfully ...
These are all nevertheless doable,
though, perhaps,
with a spirit more subdued,
reflective and humble ...

Many things in life
are so fluid, unsure, and everchanging ...
But one thing undoubtedly is immutable ...
That the human heart is made for loving ,
thrives better when giving & sharing ,
however one may waste time in denying ...

For the Isolated

For again the night is moving slow
and many a poet is cursed to know
In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo

In tenement buildings and boarding rooms
lie men who dreamt of being grooms
Have known evenings, mornings, afternoons,
measured out their lives with coffee spoons

But onwards as we surely try
to flower and bloom before we die
Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky

Hallelujah

its all shaking down
the leaves on the trees
the smell of smoke
on a summer breeze
when there isn't mercy
there to please
all love is lost
like the winter freeze
like castaways
on seven seas
life's lonely lot
in minor keys
Hallelujah

Float Away

At the end of the night
It’s just you and I
My cold indifference grew stronger
If only your touch made me feel alright
We’re seemingly islands apart
If only we were running down the terminal
To catch the last flight
Destination unknown…
Can’t wait until morning
I’ll drift off to sleep and forget
Wake and feel nothing at all
But these numb feelings can’t be held to the fire
You’re all I got and my true hearts desire.
I’m not letting you go….
So everything I have… I’ll bare
Dancing away all regret and fear
This night might be mundane
But It’s all we got
We might be ordinary
But together we spark
Tonight is however we want
Tonight, together, forever your flame
This night was agonizing
Until we floated away….

About this poem:
Lost love, dead marriage, loathing her husband and pretends to love him for that night and drinks herself to sleep until she floats away. Grasping at straws before the final end.

Wasted Years

Six years I watered your garden
Pruned your trees Everyone admired the roses now six years later you have said it was not good enough.Look at the orchids how big they are now I kept the weeds away..Every every evening I watered those beautiful babies people came from near and far to admire and asked me would Icare for their garden as I cared for yours
.No, I was so committed to your garden

Raindrops

The day was gloomy from the start
Mirroring my empty broken heart

Tendrils of agony twisted and clawed
Underneath the deep gray bitter fog

It seemed like it was only yesterday
That everything was mere child’s play

And as raindrops fell in sharp staccato rhythms
Again I yearned for sounds of familiar drums

Only hearing tinted silence in a doleful refrain
Shutting out the melancholy of incessant pain

Regret beset my mind in density of a copse
Isolated within the twilight clatter of raindrops
