AGELESS CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

Ah, winter! What a glorious season. Especially with it`s white fascinating blanket of snow. But realistically , it means that cars won`t start, & you see smoking chimneys, blowing, howling winds,& lots of falling snow.
Just another time to store the tennis rackets, golf clubs, & the mower, that won`t mow.
Some people can be seen being resourseful, winterizing their cars & houses, just in case of a winter freeze.
In keeping with rituals of celebrating , with church services, & beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
Bur when it snows, the term "energy saver" does not apply to an older person, when cleaning the driveway for more than a day...
You get a shovel & get a rhythm going & suddenly your hip lock up to one side...& your back stiffens up in some crazy way!
You know you`re aging when it gets in the way of what needs doing & you can find more "energy" to do it all...& you may not care if it EVER gets done!
You`d rather just disappear when it snows...or wait for everything to melt with the sun.
`Bout the time your body loosens up & there`s another motion going, the handle of the shovel breaks in half, only to ricochet off the hood of your car, & into your knee.
Determined, you search fervently for another shovel, in your garage...only to trip over a ladder, slip on some grease, kick over a can of paint, & suddenly see a shovel standing in plain sight against a tree....
By now, your hands are numb & you have trouble opening the door to look for another pair of dry gloves (that don`t match)
& once again, you venture into the snow.
Meanwhile, some kids are playing And you automatically answer -"WHAT"? to someone you don`t even know!
Then you retire for the day, & reminisce about what the season means. You begin thinking about family, friends, & everyone.
And while you remember the exchange of greetings all week, somehow, you`ve forgotten to get the Christmas shopping done.
But for a minute there is a calming peace at the sight of glowing blinking lights, that seem to be shadow-boxing on a few houses nearby.
You halfway expect to see Santa, himself, with his reindeer & his sleigh, flying over all the rooftops in the sky.
And when everyone should be thinking of peace on earth & how a kind word or a smile can get the harshest person to connect...
In the malls, bustling children are scurrying around checking their wish lists, amid people, with their conversations, trying to be politically correct.
All at once, your thoughts stray to a time of raising your children, & you think of crazey glue in their hair, & a stain that would never come off the wall that really didn`t matter...
You stop to focus on the grand kids & if they too, know, you`d like to be in the midst of their clatter.
Then you`re back to reality, putting the shovel (that works) away, (in a safe place)...you hear from somewhere, bells that were softly chiming, Silent Night & so many things are brought to mind...
You suddenly bump into a box, that wouldn`t stay shut, with a teddy bear`s furry arm that dangled from it, seemed to say, "Welcome Home".
And in another box, higher then I could reach, was a well worn plastic Christmas tree (with two missing branches) making it another Christmas, ,only again... just one of a kind.

About this poem:
This may not be the norm of anything, showing it is unique, like all of us are. But sometimes we seem to forget what is always more important & keep to focus on other things that don`t really matter, yet take all our time.
Time passes quickly & there seems to not be enough with the way we think, so we usually waste it.

Naomi

Naomi

So, you are living still away
On life’s amazing trip
A little robin has told family
You might be feeling a little home sick
This happens to all with loving families
Around the holidays and visit of old saint Nick

We all decided to write little notes
To tell you a memory
Or what personality trait that means the most
I wanted to tell you what I seen
The last time you were home and joy you bring

Every house hold was alive
With your stories and your unique vibe
How we all sat in awe
how this little girl has come so far
your winning at life that is easy to see
Amazing is one of words I use to describe
If anyone ever asks me

My memory is one I will hold
You sat at the table in Nanny’s house
You could see they were so proud
They listen to your stories and at time laughed out loud

The joy you bring when your home is easy to see
When family is together you always hear the same question
Well Dee how is Naomi
We talk about you all the time
You’re never too far from our minds

You’re on a life trip
You will have ups and downs and little trips
But please remember this
Even though you live afar
You will always have a place at the table
You will always be offered a drink, a biscuit or bar.

I hope you have great Christmas and know how proud of you people are.

GRANDSON #1

Not since my first child Crystal have I felt this joy
it's incredible being Pop Pop to her baby boy
Each encounter warms my heart with love so real
overwhelming gladness I can't help but feel

Damian loves me the same I can tell
when together.... "All is Well"
He clings and pouts when he must leave
seeing him cry makes me grieve

Concerns about what lies ahead haunts me
I hate to think of the future he'll see
My soul bleeds knowing whats in store for him
the chance it gets better isn't even slim

I pray he's spared the worst of life's pains
on his parade I hope it never rains
Any sadness in him induces welling tears
unlike pop pop I hope he defeats fears

I love my grandson as much as one possibly can
the first time I held him made me his biggest fan

Hidden Tears..........

your family is your love
your life and so much more
a tapestry of connections
woven through life's door
it binds your heart together
like a silken spiders web
beautiful and strong
but also delicate as a thread
the values that you hold
nurtured through your years
give credence to your life
to overcome your fears
at the centre of it all
is the one you hold so dear
your beautiful loving mother
whom you wish to be so near
to show her the love
which comes from deep inside
the seed that she planted
has bloomed with loving pride
the blossom that you are
shines brightly everyday
i see it in your garden
and in the words you say
keep your smile shining
for distance has no fare
love is an angel
that travels on wing and prayer......

RALPHIE MY BRUDDA

I SPELL IT LIKE THIS BECAUSE; HE REFERRED TO OUR MOM; AS HIS MUDDA! MOST LIKELY NEW YORKERS HAVE A SPECIAL DIOLOGUE THAT ONLY TRUE NEW YORKERS CAN UNDERSTAND; THAT SEPARATES US FROM ANY OTHERS; WHO REFER TO THEIR MOMS AS MOTHER! MY STEP FATHER WAS A LOW LIFE, AND RALPHIE TOOK A JOB WITH THE POST OFFICE, AND BROUGHT IN MORE MONEY THAN THE LOW LIFE COULD EVER PROVIDE! I WAS A KID AND DIDN"T REALIZE THAT MONEY TOOK YOU TO THE TOP OF THE SLIDE! BLESS YOU BROTHER WHEREVER YOU ARE! I SHALL ALWAYS ADDRESS YOU AS; MY TRUE STAR!

THE PERFECT FAMILY

THE PERFECT FAMILY

Am in an ocean of love, diving down as i go deeper and deep......

it seems perfect but there appears to be no end......

as much as i could ever wanna go out, i can't.......

instead it makes me wanna stay .......

its so warm and comfy......

in this very ocean am negativity free......

in here i could swim for eternity.......

i have become so addicted and united with this ocean......

am never sad never abandoned.......

together we stand, together we move.......

it takes care of me as do i......

in here is my seventh heaven......

and this is my perfect family.......

the ancestry tree quest

THE ANCESTRY TREE QUEST

Here I sit gaze upon screen lists of names oh what does it mean
Files upon files a conumdrem of past where answers lay within and my roots are cast.
Generations of family from decades bygone I need a spark for my search to go on.
Trawling the libraries looking at books grained old photos every avenue every nook
For evidence of fact a familiar place as a sleuth like detective follows up a trace.
And then the break it makes my day long lost relations that had not erred astray
Eager to solve those mysteries in mind nervous to discover but excited to find
My tree of forefathers from way back when lost uncles perhaps boding from then.
Certificated proof my inklings first thought through journeys of history painstakingly sought.
Hours upon hours worthwhile I now muse knitting and weaving those family line clues
Eyebrows raised little surprises in store unearthing the secrets and keys to the door
Of the ancestry tree I'm driven to succeed spellbound hooked intoxicatingly intrigued.
From a small idea to a maiden name quest I'll leave no stone unturned till I've unearthed all the rest .

an ode i did through the eyes of a family member

Silence must be heard

He lay there, small, fading away,
sleeping almost all day,
eat a little liked a baby on the crib,
called upon the pain, He muttered.

Mute with tears, I simply squeezed his hand
as those familiar eyes intently gazing at me spoke fast-forward volumes
of his immeasurable losses
loneliness, regret,
sorrow, helplessness
illness, frustration, estrangement,
and pain-
pain so profound, it burned my eyes to see my father's frustration.

Though already beyond the hideous battle
he'd let it have its way,
he didn't want to cease to be.
He'd suffered the disdain of illness, being an affront to pain.

I saw it all in his wordless messages.
The 'unknowing from the one I loved',
the complex, multi-layered 'had to have been there, the 'walk a few thousand miles we walked', 'please help me to be remembered our happy memories, my Father where we can walk miles away until
dawn, and have coffee at the starbucks.

My Father, my flesh,
loyal,fragile,
Please stay with me, stay with us
and all your sorrows are mine and us,
do not left us behind,
keep the faith, be brave,
and fight for me.

About this poem:
I feel sad, it was all about my Father who has cancer.
Tonight He called me, saying He was missing me, so I wrote this poem.
I remembered, when He accompanied me at the agency, we walked so far until almost dawn, and have coffee at Shangri-la Starbucks.

Every time I didn't know the place, He used to go with me.
Afterwards, we will eat in a cozy restaurant, and then coffee.

But now, all I can do is simply reminiscing the past when He can still walk.

lost...........

through my eyes
i'll hope you'll understand
my vision is broad
but without demand
I seek only the joy
that comes from the hand
that has been nurtured
in a free land
if only you knew
or could appreciate
the sacrifices made
before it's too late
before time
has it's say
and makes my reasoning
not words of betray
but alas I feel
deaf ears prevail
and no ground is made
with a windless sail.........

FAMILY......

When earthly life is lost
do we go across
the rainbow bridge to wait
reunited, at later date.

Over great lengths of time
memories shared, yours-mine
That cannot be erased
warming moments, many days.

Over weeks-months-years
through smiles and many tears
Until the day we again join
another side, of the same coin.......
