' Grandma Bertie"

“Grandma Bertie”

I see her in the sunlight
On a bright, clear, day
I see her milking cows on
A farm in her younger days,

I see her in the sunlight
In her kitchen making bread,
Chasing 17 children who’s
All wanting to be fed.

I see her in the sunlight
With the church doors open wide
I can hear her singing hymns
Like the sweet by and by

I see her in the sunlight with
Grandpa Alston by her side.
Their hair is turning grey now
With lots of Grandchildren
About 105

I see her in the sunlight at
Her home on Butterbean Ridge
She took in a dog named Racheal,
And was really glad she did

I see her in the sunlight sitting
Alone in her rocking chair
Grandpa Alston passed away now,
It’s been about 6 years.

I see her in the sunlight feeling
Tired and all worn out. She say’s
My children, I feel soon I’ll no
Longer be about.

I see her in the sunlight. Again
The church doors open wide. Her
Sons are carrying their mother
Through the church doors one
Last time.

I see her in the sunlight with a
Heavenly Glo on her face.
She says if anyone to join me,
God’s Path they must take

I’ll always see her in the sunlight,
On a bright or cloudy, in the
Wind,snow or rain. She’ll
Always be in my Heart to stay.

Lets Play Ball

Passing the ball
To and fro
knowing you have
to get to the basket
is your goal.
No under your leg
is not your kind
you have to focus
so you can see
the ball and
where it is
in your mind.
Getting the shot
1, 2, 3 racking
the points
for all to see.
Winning the game
rah rah rah
forever now
i am a star

I Forgot

I work with the
elderly some times
you see they know
more than their
telling you or me.
For the stories
they tell are spoken
so well as if out
of a text book.
They remember the
times and things
they loved them
most, but certain
things are a ghost.
Their minds seem
fine certain parts
of the day when
nigh falls every
thing goes away.
Don't be sad theirs
moments you see
she certainly did
remember thee.
For in her world
she put herself
safe in her place
she knows so well.
Just believe she
is safe right now
for the Lord is
guiding hand shows
her how look up to
him and say a prayer
for today the Lord's
carries her there.
He picks up and
candles her in
his hand.
For the Lord is
guiding her through
her path until
her final walk
with him to heaven.

Joy

For you see the smile
of your child and it
makes everything
worth wild.
You see things through
their innocent eyes.
For it is like being
young again.
Let them show
you the world.
Let their
enthusiasm
send joy though
your life.
Let them excite
your life in
abundance.

capture

forceful intent,
denied,
forceful intent,
breaking - closer,
dream,
it may happen,
intent.

Teeniebopper Oh No!!!!!!!

I hear your silence
it cuts me to the
bone it makes me
feel all alone.
I try to talk
to you each day
i wonder if it
will get back
to the other way.
It seems you are
so distant now
i just know i
have to reach
you some how.
The years your
in are so rough
they just don't
get better you
see until your
eighteen and free.
I will just have
to deal for now
maybe down the road
the years will make
it better somehow.

The Chosen Ones

For in my family there
was none until you
came into my life and
i knew I could let my
guard down and let you in.
Your tenderness and loving
heart showed me i was to
be honored with your
presence and love.
You are part of my
chosen family who
showered me with
love and affection.
May God show me the
way to where he wants
me to be and the
family I am to have.
The people i am chose
for the rest of my family.

my sister the sea

MY SISTER THE SEA

My sister is the sea.
whose waves change times stance.
My father is the sky.
Whose light lets you see inside.
My brother is the jaguar.
who is one bold cat.
My mother is the panda.
Whose arms are warm and furry.
My uncle is a bird.
Carrying the message of all the heard.
My grandfather is the captain.
Who finds the path and sticks by his sword.
My Grandmother is the cook.
Who warms all bellies and hearts with her hands.

Dreaming Feeling

This is for my mother who's now wings are white
On the 23rd of February, Tuesday night
Peaceful in your sleep, so for now night night
No more jumpy feet or waking up in the night
I'll just think of laughter and try not to frown
Abba was your band but Keegan wore the crown
You cried for Diana, and my Nana too
I wish I was older, I didn't have a clue
You're probably smiling down on me, grandad and you
Or singing and dancing like you use to do
Have fun up there, like a party or do
Rest in piece, I'm still missing you

Daddy Said

She put her hand on his hands as he laid there on the bed
She knew they didn’t have too much time and this is what she said
Daddy you were always there for me
You raised me to be a good girl as you bounced me on your knee
You taught me how to be a lady just as easy as to climb a tree
I hope I’ve made you proud of me

Her dad opened his eyes and looked at her teary face
As he wiped the water away he said you know I’ve got to leave this place
I have a lot of faith in you and I know you will be strong
Pretty soon I will be gone but you with have my love to carry on

I remember your first word, first step and bicycle ride
I remember when you fell and I held you as you cried
We went out for ice cream and your smile brightened my world
I want you to keep it in your heart that you’re daddy’s little girl.

He said, I’ve always been proud of you when you’re a lady or tomboy
Every little thing you’ve done has brought me so much joy
And though I don’t have much longer I want you to know
You’re my precious Angel and I love you so

They held on to each other tight as he took his last breath
She held on to the memories long after his death
Now when she feels discouraged, lost or out of her head
She pulls herself together remembering the things her daddy said.
