Heavens New Star

Heaven’s New Star

The heavens have a new star
Born of loves pure light
A beauty now for all to see
And guide me through the night

You filled my heart with joyous peace
Unselfish was your love
The angels kissed your gentle soul
Giving freedom to a dove.

The dancing in your sparkling eyes
Cast a glimpse into your soul
You touched your tender heart to mine
Your love touched my soul

You took me closer to believing
There is love in every man
Dark shadows of indifference
Was never in God’s plan

Now all I see is passions pain
Life is seldom what it seems
Truths light will warm the endless days
And satisfy our dreams

So when my time has come to go
I’ll gladly climb that stair
To enter into eternal life
Because I know you’re there

About this poem:
This is a poem I wrote as a memorial to my mother and read at her funeral. She was a magnificent woman ... extremely loving, thoughtful, caring, never judgemental to anyone she ever met. She would always see the positive in anyone or any situation ... she was a woman who knew who she was and accepted everyone for who they were ... There was always room in her heart for one more soul ... She never placed herself before others ... even as she was dying, she refused to leave us until she made sure in her heart that we were ready and accepted that it was her time to go ... Through her life and through her death she inspired me to be the best person I can ... she raised the bar incredibly high ... I only hope that I can reach the heights in my life that she did in hers ... Thank you Mom ... I Love You and Will Miss You Always ...

We Are Better Friends Now

Once in a lifetime
There comes a man like you
Who bears a son much like yourself
And I know it’s hard for you to believe
That he’s grown into a man
But father, I sincerely understand
And I have always remembered
That once, every night of my existence
To thank my lucky stars
That you’ve given me the strength
To be a better man
By providing a guiding light
With your wisdom
Your encouragement
Your love
But there comes a time
In our evolution through life
When a father and a son, can no longer be as one
And it took me so long to recover
From the pain of having denied the love
I once so dearly relied upon
It takes more than time to discover
That for both the young and old
Truth is sometimes cold but right
This is my life and I will always hold my own
Even when it means hurting us both
But all the wrongs became the rights
When we stopped to wonder “how”
By looking inside our hearts
With humble honesty
To discover what has been kept hidden
And accept the truths
That have been avoided
By the ignorance of stubborn pride
And yes, my dear father
Look at us … We are better friends now

About this poem:
I wrote in my mid twenties after a number of years of conflict with my father. Although deep down inside we both loved one another very much we couldn't get along. I always believed I was a disappointment to him, I couldn't live up to what I thought he wanted me to be. The harder I tried to do things I thought would be right in his eyes the more bitter his criticism became. We drifted further and further apart. I rebelled. Then the day came I had to look honestly an harshly at myself realized that all he wanted from me and for me was to be my own man. I had to accept that disagreements and disappointments were a part of life, that perfection was an illusion, my illusion, something that cannot and would not ever be achievable.

The Well

How many stories in your well
Is it deep from heaven to hell
Are there ones you just can't tell

Oh ...well of mine

Was your path straight an true
Was direction easy for you
Was the sun shining never blue

Easy to define....

I've walked the path of treachery
Stupidity walked right beside me
Where a thought was 'sposed to be

But not to refine...

I've sat of the fence of identity
Looked both sides to set me free
But never did i jump ...reality

'Twas not my time...

I've been painted by a different brush
My place here not to rush
Exposure of all would be too much

'Tis but a rhyme

On my journey to the end
Knowledge of such i would befriend
Before funeral pyres they do send

My soul to resign...

We Love You

Life, forever continuing, like an eternal flame, this is already starting to sound tame, with each new day, another entity is being formed, born into a world of turmoil & riddled with despair, we hope you grow old & live fair, we hope you fulfil your dreams & desires, we know you will encounter ups & downs, but try not to frown, as most go through this, so you know you are not alone, there will be days of good & bad, there will be times when you are sad, there will be times of joy & glee, like there was for your mum & me, but our time has come to pass, you grew up so fast, now go forth & make your mark, look after yourself & take care because you are our child & you are so rare.

Love always…

Your future Mum & Dad.

Dearest friend

Dearest friend

The dearest friend I will ever know gave me life and
helped me grow.
Held me close and kept me warm. I felt safe from every storm.
Patched me up when I fell down. Made me smile to chase the frown.
Soothed my hurting broken heart, carefully mending every part.
Thank you mom for all your care. Thank you most
for just being there.

Do You Remember

Do you remember...never forget

Do you remember when daddy used to braid your hair?
And do you remember how daddy...
Taught you how to ride your bike

Do you...remember how I taught you how to drive?
And son, do you remember how we used to
Write lyrics in the middle of...the living room
Do you remember?

And do you...remember you used to say pop's
I need to talk to you for a minute...yeah
Do you remember?

Do you remember how you were playing in the mud
And daddy came to clean you up...do you remember?
Never forget...
Baba loves you!

Asleep in my bed

A quicky i wrote the other morning waiting for the alarm to go off :-)

Tucked up tight, I hope it’s still night
Their all in bed and the silence fills my head
Dread the alarm going, it starts the toing and froing
God there is goes, deafening sound of my wows
Clatter, Bang, that will be the young man
Screams to wake the dead, that’s the daughter out of bed
Oh well time to get up, and give them both a shake up
I Tip toe on my way into another new day

Family

My child is coming home
to have the holidays
with her family.
I can not wait to see
my precious little
girl who has grown into
this women that is
in front of me.
With all her dreams and
all her possibilities.
Busy is her life as she
tries to gain a career.
Wondering what else is
in store for her.
What dream is she going
to go after for her life.
To set her future free.

I Am # 1

For in your family
the man is lower then
the women you see.
For they take care
of all her needs.
She is in charge of
all that she sees.
She is the ruler that
is just the way it
is to be.
This her castle for
her family.
She is the one that
says yes or no to thee.

ah to feel a hold of a love

ah to feel a hold of a love,

how long ago this may be..

She died so so long ago,

haste not to date sence,

or let i get hurt by death of two.

Ah to feel a hold of a love,

would be lovely,

would be awsome,

but, must i take a risk?

Must i loose yet another child,

and possible wife?

Ah there in deed lies the quetion,

in my life...
