Now neglected, the family returned
Time to move on, some past burned
Memories would linger, never erased
Yet these moments in time, act dazed
The heart of the home, had already left
Over the years, no more than guests
Passing through till today, now it ends
For this short time, they'll not defend
Each other- now pressure, joins the mix
Emotions are high, and feeling sick
They try to push on, but memories halt
Pleasures they remember, comfort is sort
Whatever the outcome, it has to be
Closure a journey, but whatever they see
Jolts from childhood, stirred come alive
Aware that in future, only memories survive

Another chaotic morning
Why am I so surprised
It was also like this last night
When I closed my eyes
It was like this in the arvo
When I told my kids
"Put your shoes where you'll find them"
Of course not one kid did
Mum is just a word they say
It's their reaction from breathing
I hear "muu-uum! " thousands of times per day
And they hear muu-uum screaming
Our house is always crazy
Dysfunction at its best
But if you look behind that
You'll see, there's love in all the mess

A caring love, between family hold
Past to present, meek and bold
Carried memories, times shared
Remembered by those, who care
Family members, were born and died
Today's majority, active and alive
Of new ones joining, in marriage
Some carrying, life's baggage
Compassion and love, within number will
Act as glue, blood and commitment seal
Babies born, happy-sad-forgotten times
Weaving magic, through genetic lines
Reaching-holding, memories past
Ensures precious bonds, of family last
Throughout generations, together hold
Good and bad times, splintered with gold
Genes or nurturing, may control
Outcome of future, blend of souls
We have the choice, our selection
Personal progress, in many directions

About this poem:
A family is to me a growing mixture of those who repeat the activities of their ancestors, whether good or bad....yet the bond woven by memories allows vision and hope to keep moving forward....growing in strength and numbers.

When my gran died we all cried
For an era had certainly passed
My grandfathers legacy of her war pension home
Was now out of my mothers grasp
Bequeathed to be Sold
The words may somehow have read
To be shared with her only sibling
Whose life was way better than led
But my mothers resolve was always guided
By the one she adored the most
Her faith led to a fisherman's shack
A mere five minute walk to the coast
Where her love for the sea
Did reveal and heal the scars of past
With daily walks and her cigarettes
An irony of years she would last
But it was the shack that blessed her twilight years
And gave her so much joy
Perched on the side of a hill
It looked almost coy
Amidst a stand of huge Pines
And the odd Eucalypt or two
A giant Jacaranda leered
For all passing by to view
A home for all the possums
And any other critters passing by
The notes from her piano
Would soothe my mothers sigh.........

About this poem:
My Grandfather would be very proud of his daughters resilience to the Wars Of Life........unfortunately he left behind two beautiful girls under the age of twelve........He led tours in Egypt and PNG and died in hospital after contracting an infection from injury ........I visited his grave in a war cemetery just four hours north of here...... I wrote this for all the people that were affected by his passing........They too have passed.........Love and peace too all those suffering the atrocities of war around the world ........May it stop quickly so my sons and there sons can still appreciate the beauty of on ever diminishing world.....

Im so proud of you my love
Humbled by what you can create
Pleased by how you see the world
Immensely impressed by your kindness
Awed by your understanding and wisdom
Lifted by your courage and strength
In great admiration of your drive and energy to have a better life
Your endless and selfless generosity towards others
Family or strangers
I'm simply blessed as your mother
Your commitment to grow and change
And on and on
I am around you always
learning more as a student of life because of you.
You are the epitome of humility yet acceptance that adversity creates a strong character to be good in many ways.
We are blessed, your brother and sisters, your dad, and everyone around you
Specially your one and only son, my Jaxon Jaymes, I am truly humbled.
I love you
Always,

About this poem:
There are so many things in life that we can truly feel blessed. My children are more than one o many reasons 9 II feel how great life is.
This is a dedication to one of my daughters, my junior, my Camille. I have three wonderful daughters. The two older ones are married and settled in life. My junior opts to live a life alone and yet I feel she's so complete and happy. She's very strongand capable that she's more into helping so many people specially her beloved brother, my one and only son.

Old man I see you there
Looking out with your ambitious stare
Wondering if you would like to share
A word or two if you may spare
What brings you here upon this view
His response quick witted as if on cue
I'm watching my son and his sons too
Play in the ocean as I still do
Ahh a surfer I see with anticipated glee
As I begin to unravel his history
A kayak his choice of toy to be
Not bad since he was near seventy
Grew up here in this coastal town
Watched the changes all around
How structures moved the sand up and down
And rock walls grow where banks were once found
I used to jump of the rocks in the early year
But it's all different his persona not to fear
It's still a beautiful place to endear
I come to refresh my mind and clear
Any pictures you may have of the past
The question struck a chord as I did ask
There is one I still have that will outlast
All others as if a spell it did cast
It was taken back in seventy four
With a mate of mine I used to adore
Sharing some weed through an open door
Of an old beat up ute and the ocean before
But his grandson limps up from the beach
Hobbling along with words out of reach
And just like that he redirects his speech
To learn the words his grandson will teach...........

I simply adore you my first true love.
You built the foundation of love and fear within me.
Before you were born I was fearless and strong about anything
Then you came, I became vulnerable, weak to the notion that if something happened to you
My world would simply crash. .vanish and I would simply crumble. ..
Yes, you taught me the true meaning of love. ..my world changed
For the better because of you
Believe it or not, but that was my truth then
And still remains the same.
You might not hear from me everyday, but know that I always think of you.
I love you. .

Mum
Today is your 91st birthday
So we gathered to treat you, have some fun
To celebrate the years we have all been blessed
to have you as our Mum
Remembering...... .. the hard times,
The challenges you faced,
bringing us through the hungry years, as for us financial riches there were none
But we're family come rain or shine and inspite of the minimal material possessions
we all had each other's back
and love..........we clearly did not lack.
We love you mum for all you've done in raising your motley crew
And when the inevitable day comes that we sadly have to part
our lives will be lost without you.
But you will live on forever...dwelling
in our hearts.

have no answer
loop in endless circles.
make no sense to me
and yet I have hope for a miracle.
hope for tomorrow
that I could have a family
and yet this family well
be not perfect
we well have fights, spilled juice
broken cars , empty wallets
and yet when I pray
could it all get better today ?

Author: Vicki Lawrence from the tv show Mama's Family
He wouldn't be hankerin after fancy deserts if he'd take more of his meals at home.
If she doesn't know what she's missing, she can't be missing much.
Tell her to keep the cats and get her boyfriend fixed.
You could look up disgusting in the dictionary and there'd be a picture of this.
I never go any place where they have more forks than food

About this poem:
I got lucky enough to see Vicki Lawrence in concert on November 5. She did half the show as herself and the other half as Mama Harper from the TV show Mama's Family. She said it was the first time she forgot to wear her glasses. I spent ten dollars the first time because the woman told me all the seat were sold out. Finding out later that she was confused and there were plenty of seats, I had to purchase two more tickets for 70 bucks and give the standing tickets to a friend of mine. At least I got three other people I knew to see her.
