Warning!

This medication should not be used,
Do not drive while you're dazed and confused,
It may cause deafness, blindness or death,
Constipation and shortness of breath.

May result in unsafe conditions,
Suicidal thoughts, deep depressions,
Discolored skin at injection site,
Rashes, tremors and seven year blight.

Think I'll just wait and see if I live,
Without whatever this drug might give.
Medication your symptoms may ease,
But is the cure worse than the disease?

Good Morning

It's six am the sun's first light,
Has crept into our room.
It's just enough to see your face,
There sleeping half in gloom.

We've half an hour before alarm's,
Insistent, buzzing blare.
You roll away, your back to me,
I reach and stroke your hair.

You murmur softly, half asleep,
A gentle message sent.
I know you well enough to tell,
And take it for consent.

Your dreams perhaps preparing you,
No need to mess around,
So quickly, we become as one.
Sometimes that's best we've found.

The urgency of you and me,
Brings matters to a head,
As mutual, our ecstacy,
Then fills our joyful bed.

When quietly you turn to me,
We hold each other tight,
And kiss so soft and tenderly,
There in the growing light.

Alarm goes off and breaks the mood,
You jump up out of bed.
The day's begun, there's things to do,
And not a word's been said.

Love In Bloom

I've seen loves flower blossoming,
In poetry and prose.
As lovers reach across the seas,
I wish good luck to those.

Until you meet it's hard to tell,
Which way the wind will blow.
It's difficult to know just how,
The chemistry will go.

I've been accused of placing too,
Much weight upon these things.
But I know from experience,
The burden that it brings.

It's great to take a holiday,
To travel far and wide.
I say it's hard to count upon,
What's on the other side.

I cannot say that I will not,
Find love in one afar.
But for right now, I'll stick with those,
That can be reached by car.

Three Fish

Three casts, three fish, now that's some fun,
Our supper caught at dawn,
Before the blazing summer sun,
Has come to beat upon.

It's my first time for fishing here,
This farmer's pond so clean.
The grass is lush, the sky is clear,
Ah, what a perfect scene.

But there are rules, this pond is his,
Attention I must pay.
So I head home, 'cause limit is,
Just three fish ev'ry day.

Three casts, three fish, I tell you true.
A fisherman I am.
You think that I would lie to you?
I'll prove it with my cam.

About this poem:
Okay, so it was way more than three casts, and well past dawn before I got my limit... I caught two on the first two casts and got overly optimistic. It took hours to get that ever-elusive third fish. All fisherman are not necessarily liars, we just don't let the truth get in the way of a good fish story - or poem...

Election Day

I'm honest, loyal, brave and true.
My opponent is a crook.
I've never cheated, lied or stole,
That other guy wrote the book.

He dislikes babies, jobs and rights,
And supports the terrorists.
I heard when he was back in school,
That he was a communist.

He voted for higher taxes,
When he cared to vote at all.
While my record is perfect and,
I have answered ev'ry call.

Just remember when at the polls,
I'm the best and he's all bad.
'Cause my name is Dudley Do-Right
And yes, I approved this ad.

Driving

Been car-less now for quite a while.
In fact, it's been a year.
I've had to hitch to get around,
Been quite a challenge here.

But now I've found a friend who has,
A pick-up truck to drive.
It's made a difference in my life,
This feeling, so alive.

Jump in the seat and turn the key,
The engine springs awake.
Now don't forget to click the belt,
No chances now to take.

Get it in gear and press the gas,
A simple little thing,
But having been without so long,
It makes my heart to sing.

The open road, the freedom to,
Just come and go at will.
A feeling so empowering,
It really is a thrill.

I thank my friend for bringing back,
This robust sensation.
Liberation! So much more than,
Basic transportation.

Your Back Door

Knocking on your back door,
The one you've waited for.
The man who'll come and stay,
And love you in this way.

I am the one indeed,
To satisfy this need.
While some may call it sin,
This is a place I've been.

Though sun may never shine,
I'll worship at this shrine.
Until you come with me,
Through where no one can see.

A daring journey, true,
But one I'll share with you,
To find out what's in store,
Inside of your back door.

Checkers Anyone?

While talking there online last night,
You found that we could play,
Some games while we were gabbing so,
To pass the time away.

Backgammon was too much for us.
At pool we took a shot.
That too proved beyond our ken,
So checkers was our lot.

We got into the game and then,
It turned into such glee,
As if we both were drunk as skunks,
Though not a drop had we.

My moves and jumps and strategies,
All proved to no avail.
Your kings and soldiers overcame.
You soundly whipped my tail.

The game was just a vehicle.
I lost, but did not care.
The fun we had was more than worth,
The beating I took there.

We laughed and giggled, talked some trash.
It really was a ball.
As we grew ever closer there,
While playing on that call.

We both had needed that relief,
From daily drudgery.
A game of checkers brought us both,
Together you and me.

Footshot

I seem to have a talent for,
Destroying all my efforts put.
By taking very careful aim,
To shoot myself in my own foot.

Once had a job in telephones,
And could have stayed forever,
But quit to work for an old friend,
Thought I was being clever.

His business skills turned out to be,
The cause of our undoing.
Went belly up with taxes owed,
And all the woes ensuing.

Then found some work in finances,
A vice-president was I,
They moved away but I chose not,
Another job gone bye-bye.

So now I search the want-ads for,
Some sort of a position,
But no one's hiring 'cause of the,
Economy's condition.

I think I'll hang a shingle out,
An idea that cannot fail.
Be my own boss, work when I want,
"Custom poetry for sale."

Him or Me?

Will it br him? Will it be me?
I guess in time, we both will see.
With him you have, some history.
We are brand new. Who will it be?

He won't commit. I'm ready to.
He'll run around. I'll just love you.
You think he'll change, but I think not.
A leopard doesn't change his spot.

Some guys are good, and some are bad.
Just think about the loves you've had.
They've let you down, betrayed your trust.
They've treated you in ways unjust.

I will not harm. I will not fail.
And next to mine his charms will pale.
You can depend on what you see.
Please baby girl rely on me.

Please take my heart and take my hand.
And very soon you'll understand.
I will not cheat. I will not lie.
This you will see as time goes by.
