CS Poetry Corner

Once upon a time some poets would gather
And write poems of their choice
It was beautiful and lovely
It allowed each poet to have a voice

Comments made on those poems
Were lovely to read and digest
The comments inspired the poets
And gave them a feeling of being blessed

To all those poets I wish to say
It was great to have your work read
May your lives be blessed evermore
Thank you for what we have shared

And now, all you dearest poets
You can look back at those days
They were all so wonderful and happy
Oh yes, those were the days

La-la-la-da-da-da
La-la-la-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da

About this poem:
I posted my first piece here on CS Poetry Corner in June 2013. There was a great camaraderie among the poets then and the subsequent years. It was a wonderful feeling that inspired other poets and myself in our writing.

I have written this piece in honour of those days.
It was inspired and motivated by the song:

“Those Were The Days” by Mary Hopkins

looking into the sky

As i look up into the sky
BIG and white the moon shinning bright
into the darkness of space stars all around shining bright
further we travel in space into the darkneess of the deep black space

Lots of stars,Mybe a comet
Or spaceship traveling to mars
Passing all the space junk as we travel
comets here there space ships here there satalittes every where

oh the joys and freedom of space to be weightless in space
to move around with such ease motionless weightless one becomes floating around in outer space
viewing are kingdom from outer space looking down on the earth as we float in space

we travel in are spaceships where we go know one knows like catching the bus we travel in space to the moon we can travel
the next planet and the next in are space capsule we will travel
where will life begin again

if man destroys this earth will we have to begin again are mission to mars other earth planets to find
is this mans destination that he has to find

Malala

In Swat valley in Northern Pakistan
Malala, a young female teenager
Stood against the might of the Taliban
And earned the respect of those who knew her

She opposed their girls' education ban
And spread the issue all over the world
This enraged the terrorist Taliban
Who were determined to silence this girl

They sent an assassin to murder her
And he shot a bullet right through her head
But she proved to be a tough survivor
And became even more vocal instead

For her courage and heroic action
She earned the award of a Nobel prize
This defiant female from Pakistan
Became an idol in everyone's eyes

THIS MUSIC IS SO LOUD, DID YOU SAY SHE'S RICH?

‘TWIXT A TWERP AND A TWIN

are you the one who is trying to come ‘twixt she and me?
Are you the one who makes her blush like the roses we Are blessed to see?
Couldst you be the one to split up a couple alegedly laden with love?
And are you the one who promised to gather and grant her every star above?

Wouldst thou presume to have the power
At any second, minute or hour
To make me fade like a fireplace and its smoke
And then try to rekindle the embers she came to stoke

Must you be taught about her ample lust?
And the pies she bakes with a buttery crust?
Will you be the one, the weed and the wedge?
But take heed when she’s tries to lead you the edge

So, you must be the one who thinks himself suave and urbane
Okay, I say, go learn about the intricacies of the lady’s brain
Then strike up a conversation about being handsome and rich
Do all that because I certainly don’t want the ignorant b*tch

Enlightened

The armor I have been wearing has been pierced
a tidal wave of joy rode in an settled near my heart
I am torn by the feelings of compassion and empathy
and wish I could go back to having a cold blackheart

A window was opened, all these new feelings rushed in
Instead of pushing them out, I swiftly shut the door
I am still scared to death of how they make me feel
Afraid I'll find my heart in pieces naked on the floor

But I felt that sunshine as it poured into my soul
I giggled and cried, then sat in stunned disbelief
I felt a kind of happiness, joy I hadn't felt in years
Finally breaking through the darkness, I felt such relief

The light turned on, the void holding me had gone
Now everything I see holds a new kind of spark
the colors seem brighter, more vibrant, more alive
I guess my heart had been hibernating in the dark

Now the real work for my life and sobriety begins
I see now all the problems and what was truly wrong
It's time to fix all the things that had been broken
So when I am done.. I will be that much more strong

were, was,isn't, ain't

WERE, WAS, ISN’T, AIN’T

Many words were at my disposal
As I recounted my proposal
Not upon my bended knees
But all it took was a sacred “please”

Flowery words could have flourished with my speech
I could have said “remember how infatuated we were on that sun-bleached beach”
There were words whirling inside my head
Every syllable that soon might be said

I could have talked about a love so great which was ever ours
A union that brought together two forces with fourfold powers
I could have talked about the fact that we were a team
And how it all started with one starry bright dream

I could have told you why the universe deems what it brings
I could have told you how you drenched me in wondrous things
But then you drenched me in depression that caused me to do anything except die
………………………..I could have said so many things but in sum and total I said, “goodbye”

Overcoming Depression

My days are long and my nights longer still
As I sit here watching this little pill
Will it remove the gloom I feel inside
Or will it just provide a chance to hide

When it wears off, am I back to square one
With an even greater gloom to take on
I have tried all the normal avenues
Yet I still continue feeling the blues

What is it that I really need to do
To rid this gloom and become myself true
Deep inside me, there's a fighting spirit
Saying to face this gloom and conquer it

Connecting with Nature provides an ease
Listening to the sound of a gentle breeze
While it's passing through the surrounding trees
Serenading them with the rustling leaves

I shall draw my strength from the divine source
In whose awareness I do not feel lost
I know I shall overcome finally
And once again my spirit shall be free

i hope JAMES DEAN didn't come back as a snail

FED ON SURVIVAL

Not one junkie I know has a test kit for purity
But I can tell you this much with surety
Although we should all be grateful for survival
I’d rather be declared dead on arrival

Frankly I’ve had enough of never being certain
And I begged the stagehand to bring down the curtain
An addict yearns for quality and a cloud like dream
But Then I awake in a hospital and begin to scream

I scream for the friends I’ve lost who were never revived
Shoot, I haven’t even a clue how I have survived
Every day I’m a pearl in peril on a random roulette wheel
Never knowing if I’ll O.D after I consume my last meal

So next time anyone sees me in the gutter simply leave me there
Because I can tell you this much and I’ll make it clear
I’ve never given a damn about religion or the Holy Bible
But I swear on it, please, this time let me be declared dead on arrival

About this poem:
WOULDN'T IT BE FUNNY IF A PERSON ALMOST DYING IS IN AN AMBULANE AND THE AMBULANCE DRIVER HAD A HEART ATTACK?
AND TO NUMBER ONE, SEE, YOU NEED A GOOD SUBJECT MATTER, NOT JUST WORDS STRUNG TOGETHER IMPROPERLY AND FOR NIL!

Adventures in Plumbing

Plumbing can be a mystery,
Though doesn't seem like it should be.
All runs downhill, or so they say,
It's all in joining 'B' to 'A'.

So why is it that when I try,
Some minor mending to apply,
All my careful preparation,
Only leads to pure frustration?

These fittings don't fit up at all,
This one's too fat and that's too small,
And leaks I try to fix it seems,
They turn themselves to steady streams.

A plumber costs too much for me,
But done for cheap ain't done for free.
Know before I complete this chore,
My fourth trip to the hardware store.

IF NOT do you reckon HE EATS GREEK OLIVES?

DOES---GOD----DO---IT----GREEK-----STYLE?

I don’t mind being labeled a fool
Why, because I’m that god-damned cool
And by the way, I am seriously dying as we speak
But until I’m dust I’ll do it just like the Greek

Zorba ain’t got a thing over me
I down ouzo people give me for free
How do I do that which you yearn to know?
Well, if it ain’t free I write a bad check and let the ouzo flow

That’s just the kind or unkind of fool I am
Foolish enough to fool all of them
All the fools and the common folk
And I may be a fool but I ain’t no joke

I hear with my heart your god’s admonition
But my foolishness will never be in remission
For the remainder of my days I’ll be this way
Disregarding that which society and your lord may say

So call me a fool if that be your will
Because I ain’t got nothing but time to kill
Until your god decides to kill this fool
But I don’t give a f**k because I’m that god-damned cool
