my twin brother's name is PEE-tah

A VERY VAIN VINE

Twine twisted around a vine
Whilst the philodendron were doing just fine
No weed to choke a tulip by a bud beguiled
And there were no weeds to make certain we all smiled

Laughter began every day when the alarm clock rang
But I heard the echo of a sorrowful song an angel once, for both of us, sang
Thusly didst the angel singing being offered up as a present
Then a seraphim repaired her sorrow because they want all of us feel pleasant

I would tell you I’m glad you became an appendage of mine
And came simply to make this sodden soul once again to shine
Sometimes things go awry and for a moment you feel sad
But that’s only because he knows how he treated love as a fashion in fad

The sight of vines and aroma of the philodendron filled the air
While a man demanded a lady be ever his with a flesh so fair
He might do s**t like that for you but as for me he’s all about doom
Because i’m just a urinal in the universal and unilateral men’s room

forgive

for give, for giving
the whole world seems
forgiven for living
these ends to extremes

for give me mine
indiscretions that
seemed so benign
i nearly fell flat

forgive me my will
that hard hit the wall
hardened me until
i forgot to recall

for give ruled golden
those marking my way
to many beholding
indebted to repay

forgive petty tiffs
words carelessly blurted
would take back if
not mindlessly inserted

forgive for deceiving
those loved the most
close bonds bereaving
pride left to boast

forgive me my pride
that brought to the brink
in cold heart to abide
hardened armor to chink

forgiving and forgetting
letting bygones be bygones
setting aside regretting
merciful pardon undergone

for give, to live
free from our angst
amongst the living
forgive to give thanks

Clouds and Sunshine

Fluffy white clouds floating up in the sky
Against a background of celestial blue
Changing their shapes as they meander by
Creating a most magnificent view

The moving shapes are edged with wisps of mist
As they sail on unhurriedly on high
Coruscating in their milky whiteness
Against a brilliant sunshine lighted sky

feet FIRST deAD FREd

OH SURE, THAT’S EASY FOR YOU TO SAY

They want to hear you say the word “yes”
And yes, oftentimes it’s best to confess
Admit your guilt and let the punishment fit the crime
Simply sit in a cell doing nothing but doing your time

Sometimes they’ll find out the truth in any event
And when they said “liar” you wondered what that meant
It means you told a falsehood with repercussions severe
And I’m telling you, being compliant is the only way out of here

Ain’t no riot going to open the cell lock for you
Ain’t no threat going to stop them from doing what they do
Tell them you won’t eat until you get a new trial
And they’ll let you starve to death due to denial

More often then not it’s best for the truth to be known
They don’t care how loudly you moan and groan
I’ve been here long enough to know it’s best to behave
But shit, I don’t care what’s best, I’ll lie and swear on my mother’s grave

Materializing the Dream

I've had so very many dreams
That faded in the morning light.
And a dream as real as it seems
Can only live at night.

They tell of things the heart desires
And sometimes they come to pass
But only once the mind retires
To seek sleep's greener grass.

One lover always came to me
While deep in restless sleep.
Although her face I could not see
And her hand I could not keep.

I knew her by the way she felt
As I held her to my chest.
Together merging, we would melt
Forsaking all the rest.

But morning light was harsh and cold.
And I'd waken all alone
With promises I must uphold
That turned my heart to stone.

The real world has no such dreams
For this love can't exist.
Such folly, yes, a sane mind deems.
Such folly I'd resist.

As my life began to shape and change
I took a different course
Like a rider on the open range
Set surely on his horse.

Never resting, on the move
No camp was I to make.
There was nothing more for me to prove
And nothing to forsake.

Those pockets full of pyrite
I did empty with disgust.
No need for that to travel lite
So I left it in my dust.

I knew for me the time was now
To seek what I could find.
And see if fortune would allow
A fate for me that's kind.

No room at all for compromise
No time at all for fear.
No settling for half-assed lies
I'd left them to my rear.

But could I find the love I'd sought?
The love I knew in dreams?
Life's lessons learned and also taught
Not all is what it seems.

No, giving up was not the way
And I knew I'd never rest.
And nothing more of love I'd say
Till I put it to the test.

And so I searched to find my love
And I knew I'd know her heart.
The one that I'd been dreaming of
To join and never part.

For years I tried to figure out
Just what a love should be.
And at last I know there is no doubt
My love has set me free.

I didn't know I'd find her here
There was no way to know.
But once I did it all came clear.
I'll never let her go.

About this poem:
I looked for Ladybee42 my whole life. I just didn't know exactly what she looked like or where she lived, but I knew who I was looking for and words can never express the feelings I've felt now that I've found her.

just once I'll feel love

just once I'll feel love
until then I'll just wait
sitting patiently, sort of
trying to self-actuate

once hope reigns it's hopeless
no need to cast love aside
catch a lightness to possess
enchanting oneness a rising tide

I'll dig holes for your treasure
'til my hands all calloused and raw
leave lid of chest to open pleasure
let aloneness be a forgotten flaw

feel my way into hearts chamber
each beat another rush of life
ever closer to life's remainder
living begins when hearts derive

love in all it's myriad forms
overt or subtle in it's display
vales are lifted and we transform
enclosed with love, our own cliché

Poem for the cat

rain sings on the iron
the cars they wash on by
my fireside cat he's dryin'
his sleepy night is nigh

I wish I knew his dreaming
but I have no chance to pry
I'm sure its fully teeming
with mice that weren't so sly

and somewhere on a rooftop
beneath the bluest sky
this princely feline's eyeing
the birds that go on by

Lament of a Jaded Lover

To love or not to love again
That is the real question for me
I've already suffered much pain
And my heart is in agony

It's nice to be in love they say
The experience is pure bliss
But if your lover goes away
How does someone deal with this?

The second time, love is sweeter
That is something also stated
Who knows what will happen later
At present I am quite jaded

I shall move on despite the strain
And whatever will be, will be
Will I ever find love again?
That's in the hands of destiny

About this poem:
I tried to put myself in the position of a jaded lover and wrote this piece.
I think there are persons here to whom it may apply.
It does not apply to myself directly.

CAVIAT EMPTY

AT LEAST SAID THE BEAST

Doesn’t death frighten you at all?
Well please allow me to enlighten you all
Death can be frightening to a lowly monkey
BUT one cannot fear death when one is a junkie

every time you score some dope from someone you don’t know
It could mean wonder or it could mean woe
A lot of people put shit in quality dope and don’t give a damn about you
So what, you were allergic to whatever he sold, that’s what people like him do

I mean if you’re going to score some dope and you don’t know the source
You can roll the dice or alter a well considered course
Because if his baby needs diapers and they all need food
Now see, that’s when life becomes lasciviously lewd

You can’t hit the street asking strangers for dope
One could be a pervert the other a sick-o who’ll hang you with a rope
So I’m telling you that it takes being illicitly brave to survive
And I don’t give a shit about the others, at least I’m still alive

ILLICIT ILLNESS

ILLICIT ILLNESS

I was considering the subject of sorrow, sadness and tears
And how depression has such strength to last for so many years
Then I realized how happiness turns to hurt and pain
And how my tomorrows really have nothing to gain

And so I pick up my syringe filled with illicit calm
then try to find a vein in a track laden arm
Just another puncture as a sign of how badly I feel
And the belief that the wounds she caused may never heal

Dope can be a balm to calm the strength of stagnation
And erase the visions of repeated information
Intrepid information that reminds me of someone I once knew
And the portrait of pain her painting drew

No more laughter only she brought about
Because hurt can carry such caustic clout
It’s for that reason and that reason alone
That after so many years my sorrow seems only to have grown
