Obtaining peace in mind in my experience, firstly required stilling my mind, by that I mean stopping the continuous grasping thought process. If your able to observe your thought process you’ll likely notice we follow a thought and before any conclusion or resolve we grasp into the next thought, on and on, an endless process. If you take notice of your thought before going to sleep, though acknowledging other thoughts during our dream state, you’ll probably notice when you wake the same thought that you had before sleep is the same thought you wake to.
I believe stilling the mind is most important, if we are unable to still our mind we continue to grasp any thought that arises. A simple breathing meditation helped to still the mind. Grasping for happiness outside of self is a form of stupidity, feeling comfortable who we are can surely only occur if we are able to to perceive what's actually truly important and what's not.

Guess it depends on ones definition of compassion; I listened to a view that understanding interdependent arising develops true compassion. Our true nature is moving energy, and our experience comes from our own past actions of body speech and mind. Some people use the word Karma to express the nature of cause and effect.
Often here you hear on the news someone has been swept of a rock while sport fishing. To me in my mind I perceive that person sadly engaged in an unskilful activity causing harm to fish. Most people would think that catching and causing pain and suffering to a fish doesn’t matter. However none the less by virtue of engaging in a negative activity like that without having consideration for the feeling of another sentient being (being that has mind and fears death) definitely has consequence by virtue the certainty of cause and effect. Likewise in past we all have sown countless seeds suffering of negative karma from our past actions of body, speech and mind or we wouldn’t still be taking rebirth.
To try and express in another way what it is I am trying to say, another example you might like to consider is people born in places like Iraq and Afghanistan suffering imaginable sufferings of being bombed and the likes. Also those doing it, we should I think develop strong compassion because if they knew what seeds they are sowing they wouldn’t do it. The seeds of karma once sown are certain... You hang a murder and he/she could well take rebirth as next generation of so called victim. Observing karmas of others is an even-handed observation…

It is unfair Minister to propose that a party asking the Ombudsman to act in a prescribed way, being an obligation under the Ombudsman Act in relation to a party being blocked in due process, a section that quite clearly says he (the Ombudsman) had to do act on my behalf, which invoked inaction by the Ombudsman thereby depriving the party of his rights in accordance with law because the subject matter of the application for appeal related to a Defence Force matter. That is wrong, Ombudsman Littlewood had to have acted, and also he sadly lost legal documents intrusted into his care being documents needed for appeal. Correctly in accordance with Law I appealed to the Ombudsman in relation to a parties right of appeal that is clearly expressed in law. Which had nothing what so ever to do with the subject matter of the appellants appeal. My request and the documents intrusted in the Ombudsman had everything to do with a persons right to appeal a written decision in accordance with prescribed Rules for an Appeal.
Please note the Honourable Prime Minister has a legal right to request a copy of the High Court Transcript and I respectfully ask that please do your very best to go to the truth of these matters.

Guarding your mind is important, what you listen to imprints on your mind stream. You can probably remember your 16th birthday because the experience is imprinted upon your mind. In Iran and other Moslem countries speakers call the believers to prays. Looking at Faces of the Mullah's makes imprint, looking at women covering up makes imprint even the little round hats. Marvelling at Muslim art makes imprint.
Dualistic mind Mindfully trying to find self or a truly existent “I” is quite impossible. Our impermanent physical human form, is constantly changing, our toenails, hair, cells all our form body is constantly changing, every aspect of our impermanent physical form is constantly under-going change. Our thoughts, our memories constantly changing; the “I” or ego which we cling to, is in my mind also a dilution. At birth we are given names, that are of course mere labels.
Trying to fathom what happens when we die without finding understanding of either the nature of self, or the nature of mind is in my opinion a out of control senseless intellectual pursuit.
Philosophy can be said to mean a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school, or a rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics, or personal belief about how to live or how to deal with a situation.
Religion can be said to mean, a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny, or an institution to express belief in a divine power.
To find a meaningful answer to "where do we go when we die"! i suggest requires a serious investigation into our true nature, an open minded investigation to determine what dies!!
