Sorry folks, it's not meant to be a sad thread ... just got tired of too much news regarding M.J. and felt other people deserved to be recognized and were just as important and should be celebrated.
Irish author Frank McCourt has died of cancer in New York City at age 78.
He was best known for the million-selling Angela's Ashes, a memoir about his impoverished childhood.
McCourt's other books include Tis and Teacher Man.
I read all his books ... enjoyed them all ... "Angela's Ashes" was amazing to read ... "Teacher Man", was about when he was a teacher. He wrote about the student who washed the paint jars ... I was browsing through the book and not really ready to buy a book, but when I read that section, I had to buy & read it.
Walter Cronkite dead Veteran newsman passes away at 92
For a generation of TV viewers, he was the man who delivered the news. Now he’s become a news story himself.
Walter Cronkite, who guided America through the Vietnam War, the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert Kennedy and man's landing on the moon, has passed away. He was 92.
The current news world is packed by competing newscasters on dozens of networks, but back when Cronkite was helming CBS News, he was simply the one everyone tuned in to. Known for the catchphrase “And that’s the way it is,” Cronkite was called the most-trusted man in America.
Cronkite anchored the CBS Evening News for 19 years before Dan Rather stepped in to take his place.
Cronkite got his start as a battlefield correspondent during the First World War for the United Press before coming to CBS as a Washington correspondent in 1950.
The Missouri native moved to the fledgling CBS Evening News in 1962, where he was named anchor of the 15-minute nightly program, which became the first 30-minute network newscast the following year with him at the anchor desk.
From the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. to publicly questioning U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War to the landing of the first man on the moon, Cronkite was known for a tell-it-like-it-is reporting style that was often tinged with genuine emotion.
I still wonder about Smurfette being the only female ... and all those males .... then there is Papa Smurf ... was he the father of Smurfette's Baby Smurf, or ... the ummmm errrrrrr (don't want to go there) ... of all the young smurfs???
Was Smurfette, since she was the only female ... there for all the other male Smurfs ... and if so, which one was the father of Baby Smurf?
???
Sorry, but my daughter was a big fan of the smurfs. Excuse me while I go 's.
Don't forget... you'll keep her in stitches (laughing)... hmmm maybe you will end up in stitches (rolling pin) .... you could always tell her, gets chilly up there ... you'll give her lots of cuddles to keep her warm ... and gets dark around 3 PM ... means a nice fire and lots of candles to make that romantic atmosphere for all that cuddling ...
I very much respected this actor ... he was very unique.

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?
Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they know there is not enough money?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?
If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?
When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, 'It's all right?'
Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, 'That really hurt, why don't you watch where you're going?'
Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?
And my FAVORITE...... The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons are suffering from some sort of mental illness.
Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

Sorry if so many other people that have done things and have been not mentioned are not on the above list. So many are not really considered famous, but have done things other areas, such as sport, music, acting, medicine/science, etc. R.I.P.
No offense to Michael Jackson, but I sure wish the media circus would just stop. (sorry if others find this calous, it's not meant to be.)
