I hate captcha!

I just wonder if there are bots who can figure them out. When you have a computer who can outplay in chess, how hard can captcha be?
Surveys I do have a cooler trick. They show the question and then tell you to mark a certain choice. Makes sure you are actually reading and real.
What is bad are the ones that either are so blurred you can't make it out. Or the ones with pictures that are ambiguous.
The one used here is decent at least.thumbs up

RE: French solve social distancing issue for beaches

At least some countries have sense. News scenes of the US beaches and pools show people packed like sardines. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that without Covid. What fun is it to basically stand in the pool because it is so crowded no one can swim or move!doh
I want to see the count soar in a week or so.

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

So who can afford to waste rubber when tires are half bald to start with?!laugh roll eyes The guy who worked on my 54 Harley trike said he passed me on the highway one day. He had ridden hard tails years back. He said he winced seeing how the bike bounced. I said doesn't bother me. Know every bump along the route and just post like riding a trotting horse. Altho laying down with feet on highway pegs, just went with it like rocking in the sea.

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

I used to own a 59 Cadi Eldi. One of the longest car ever made. Beautiful. Air level suspension and I swear that car was out to kill me.
If you notice the picture of my hardtail chopper on profile, I have no front brake either. Front brakes are dangerous. Hit it first and do a flip. Never had an issue with just back brake. Except now since shoe is worn and foot goes all the way around before stopping. No problem..just anticipate stops.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: do u like the feeling alcohol gives u?

Someone asked me once..if you dont drink, how can you have fun? I replied, if I need to be drunk as an excuse, maybe I shouldn't be doing it!thumbs down

RE: whether you hate my country China???????????

There are low intelligent people in the US who hate everyone. I am sure China has some also. What some hate is not hate as much as fear. China has become powerful and the US is not top dog anymore. Your government embodies all that many of us fear which is lose of freedom. We see the control your government has which is increasing more and more. There is a book written long ago called 1984 by George Orwell. In it he wrote of a government similar to the control China has over it's people.
Right now people are angry over the way China covered up the virus. And the ignorant can't differentiate between a countries government and it's citizens. Whether US or China, a segment of their people resent the government telling them what to do.
You have no more control over what your leaders do than we do. Who is hated are the people who follow along and allow things to happen.
You just ran into an ignorant troll. If they don't come down on you, they come down on others. So consider the source and say whatever. Don't take it personal. Smart people don't hate you.

RE: do u like the feeling alcohol gives u?

Leaned from dad, never drink to oblivion . Used to drink some. Now rarely. I do not like the feeling..too much like being sick with a cold. And don't see the sense to it anymore. I would rather treat myself to a soda.
What I see with the proliferation of sweet schnapps, liqueurs, beers, canned cocktails and such...is that the younger gen don't like the taste of booze.
I was brought up to sip booze like brandy or whiskey. Maybe over ice or mixed. Now I see everyone chugs a shot. They throw it back like some challenge. All it tells me is they hate it and just want to get drunk as fast as they can. Apparently they like feeling dizzy and clumsy.
Adults enjoy booze for the taste. Children chug it.scold

Aging through time travel

I am lucky, When he died I had my farm that said, cry later, there is work to do. I feel sorry for the young generations that have never known security. Their parents change houses, cars and even spouses like underwear. The kids learn impermanence, not roots. I grew up on my farm. The land changes at the same time it stays the same. I learned love and caring and what marriage means from my parents. Issues were dealt with, as a family. These kids know well time travel as they jump from house to house, parents to parents. They say you can't go home again. That is not true. Except for these lost generations where home is here and gone over and over.blues

Aging through time travel

Time..when a child..endless. The school year is 30 months, summer runs away with no calendar until..what do mean, school is starting.
Mom used to tell me, as you get older, time goes faster. I thought silly. There are 24 hours to every day, 60 minutes to an hour. The sun rises and sets as it has for millions of years.
But, she was right. Now I get up, do something and, huh? Time for the news already? Months race past. It is the 1st, the 5th..uh 20th? And next week a NEW month?wow
I walk into the bathroom and my 35 year old self looks in the mirror. Time travel...a 70 year old stares back.moping When did that happen?! How did I get trapped inside this old person?
How can I think young and be old? Now a life time warranty doesn't mean much. What life, year, two, ten?
Screw buckets lists. Should have done that when young, not now. When I could walk all day, lift 100 pounds, run even! If it had mattered that much would have done it.
People say when I retire. I say what are you going to do, retire independently dead? I was married to a biker. Rough and tough til he met me around 28. Married cause he said been there, done that. And got MS at 39 and by 42 was bedridden. That was his retirement. Won and done. So he was lucky he lived hard when young. No bucket list for him.
Heard a finance guy once. Asked how much one would need for old age. He said well..this much for medical bills, this much for nursing homes. So THAT is what you work for? To make someone else rich and buy what THEY want. Bite me! Make sure you enjoy things before it is too late. Time travel only works one direction.wave

I am A Luddite, already!

And we have full, happy lives, don't we?cheering

RE: Does America need more gun control laws?

Had a guy break into my house. Came home and was a co-worker. Threw him out after I put a bullet in my floor. Date said better call sheriff in case stuff stolen. Oh yeah?..be there in 30 minutes, on other side of county. If I wasn't armed and mean, what would I have done..offer the burglar a cup of coffee and asked him to please wait?frustrated dunno

RE: Being employed or Self employed?

Done both. Most businesses fail within five years. It takes lots to start one. If you can't open the doors with full inventory or offerings, dont bother. People try, find lacking and dont come back. You need cash to float for two years at least. And try and find a niche no one else has. Not easy with the competition these days.
Work for someone else, punch out at quitting time, go home and forget about it til tomorrow. Own business and work 16 hour days, weekends and holidays. When employee calls in, guess who covers. Costs too..rent,inventory, wages, taxes, accountant, workmans comp in the US.
I stuck to employee. I saw the books my boss showed me. He said if it wasnt for depreciation, would have sunk. Only way when out was more than in. We went through a bad spell. He borrowed from aunt and mother, went without pay except what he had to take for living. Sleep in his office a few times cause couldn't afford rent. Made sure workers got their pay first. Begged phone company to not cut us off, same for power.
He owned the land and building so when pump went, he paid to fix, plus any other issues.
At the end of the day, I went home. He stayed.
It is a dream to make it rich. Few do. All they get are divorces and ulcers and kids who wonder who they are. You can always find another job, but hard to do when ran one.

I am A Luddite, already!

Fortunately there are still some of us who know the old ways. Like Amish folks. My windmill dates from 1935. It started to squeal again. Then froze in position. An Amish man, in his 50s was brought out. He made a few trips up and down it. Filled the oil tank with hydraulic oil which he said lasts better than straight grade oil. Replaced the bolt that was missing and a pin. He even stood on the old wood platform like it was nothing. That mill is part of my farm my whole life. I don't think internet offers repair people local.
Sad part is all the knowledge and skills it takes a person a lifetime to learn. And now adays, no young want to learn it. So it dies with that person.
What is new is not always better. And when people get hung up on all modern, and that modern fails, how does society survive?
If one reads, I think half of todays tech originated with Leonardo DaVinci, (spell check cant even give me the right spelling), Edison and others. It just took later gens to figure out how to build them.

I am A Luddite, already!

It seems corporate America can't believe anyone can not be awash in a flood of tech. To me it is mind boggling all the junk out there. Streaming, cable, smart everything, cars with screens instead of knobs.
I have a modern TV in the LR my guy bought me. It is hooked up to an antenna and I get whatever it gets. He also gave me his old DVD player which I never watch, unless he wants to when here. Watch the news and maybe a show here or there. Go through the channels and end up watching the Weather channel just for noise.Or the local analog channel. Bad when the best show on is the weather!laugh scold
I listen to NPR/WPR/BBC on the radio during the night and morning. On an old boom box AM/FM/ Cassette radio.
The BR TV is still analog. Converter died so it sits there in case I feel like playing a VHS that sits on top.
My cell is a pre-paid flip that I carry only in case I fall and need help or something emergency type. I use the land line. Internet is via telephone line and is to my 20 year old Dell PC that runs XP. What more do I need?
I don't play video games. I do crafts, read extensively or work outside on my farm.
My newest car has a radio with buttons, heater with controls and the fanciest thing on it is a remote that opens the doors and trunk. My others are all older than 76.
I dont skype nor messenger. Used to with my guy but they don't work anymore. I told him what dif. What is the big deal of me looking at him, looking at me, looking at him, looking at me. We talk on the phone.
I don't facebook or tweet or any of the other stuff I never heard of.
I see tech as tools. And of little to no use to me. Even crafting I tend to use old hand tools. Simple, easy to use, never need charging and get free exercise too.
Modern things I like, electricity and in door plumbing. The electricity runs the blower on my wood furnace.
So sorry corporate America, not enamored with your high tech crap that costs too much and is obsolete in 6 months. And not buying it.
By the way, still running a 1949 IH freezer.

RE: Does America need more gun control laws?

People bent on crime find away. Knives, cars, IEDs, Molotov cocktail, gas, poison. And turn in guns..oh yeah..criminals race to do that. Strict laws? Then why can one go to the dark web and buy a missile launcher? Why do street gangs have machine guns? Gee..illegal..guess can't own one then.
What bull! Countries with super strict laws still have shootings. Terrorists must all manufacture their weapons by hand...DYI. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Elon Musk to move all Tesla manufacturing to Texas & Nevada

I read tons of people moving out of the state. Good. Maybe they will get wise that welfare folks dont pay taxes. Prices are so high, no one can afford to live there anymore.
I hope he does leave completely. Last car company in state anyway. Cali needs to figure out can't give a free ride to all. They want to secede, please do! Set up your own country with laws that hurt most folks. They are overboard.

Survey companies and polls are slanted.

I earn mad money by doing surveys and polls on line. I have come to the conclusion that they only care to get input from certain segments of population. I type in age..dumped. No kids..dumped. Not buying new car...frig...house..Dumped. Not Hispanic.. dumped.
How can companies find out a true market without input from people who don't think the sun rises and sets on their company or product? Wouldn't you want to know why someone DOESN'T buy it?
Greed is the main thing for corporations. They prefer to sell to young, saddled with debt, shoppers with kids. And hopefully Hispanics are in that group.
Polls are fake because they screen out anyone disagreeing with their objectives. Are you a party member? Then we don't want to hear from you. By dumping others, they can brag, 95% love us. Or agree with us.
The other garbage is how many polled? Sorry, one thousand of pre-screened people DON'T speak for me.scold
So when I read reviews, survey results or poll numbers, I tend to take them with a grain of salt. Or a pound.tongue

RE: Does America need more gun control laws?

Not more laws, less stupid idiots! I grew up with guns. Saw what dead animals were. Taught them. Not a toy, a tool. Problem is kids who never see that. They shoot up on video games and then hit re-set. Real life has no re-sets.
People who never saw a gun, go out and buy one. No idea how to use it. I knew growing up, touch dad's guns and get what for!!crying
Then there are the macho types who think they are cool to wave guns around. End up shooting buddies.
What we need is a manual handed out with any purchase. Show what is what. Include a photo of someone with head blown apart. Make it real, not a game. Explain a simple .22 can go a mile. Or a bullet shot into the air has to come down somewhere. And gravity does the same velocity.
Teach kids no means no..something they don't get anymore.professor doh

RE: George Orwell fan?........ if you DON'T want more populous control, help defeat HR6666

The problem is second hand info. Never believe anything until you get the facts yourself. Media is good at cherry picking bits out of happenings that will make the best headline. Don't jump to conclusions.

RE: What Killed Marriage?

Society killed marriage. Changing morals and attitudes. Ease of divorce. It used to be a baby out of wedlock was looked down upon. Now the couple waits til the kids are old enough to be in the wedding party! People used to believe a couple worked together to build a life and stuck it out through thick and thin. Today, through sickness and health, richer or poorer has become as lone as mutually beneficial. As soon as one feels the other is getting more, out with them.
Divorce used to be a stigma. Now, doesn't matter.
Greed has killed marriage. Neither wants to share. What's mine is mine.Lazy has killed it. Easier to walk away than work at it. Selfishness has killed it. I want it MY way, up yours.
I married at 18. To a 19 year old. We were married for 9 years. We grew up. Unfortunately not the same pace. I did, he didn't. He wanted me to divorce him. I said I didn't believe in it, made my bed and willing to lie in it. He wanted to play and not have to work. I had the satisfaction that after we each had re-married, he told me our divorce was the worst, dumbest thing he ever did. I said thank you for the kind words. He was not happy the second go around. I was. Married for 32 to years til he died.
Now..why bother with marriage. My guy has property and his way of life. I have property and my way of life. To share time together works fine. To marry? Why? Who gives up what? We are too old for having kids so what difference does it make. He doesn't NEED me and I don't NEED him. Old people are way too complicated to get married. Sad thing is now young people are also.
Marriage is great when young. You join and build and grow together. Seems though the young don't want to do all that work anymore. They can now have their own cake and eat it alone.

RE: The biggest geniuses failed this

I get 34 also. Add the correct addition totals.

Seriously, do you know of anyone that got Covid 19?

What I hate is all the secrecy over just where the cases are. See numbers rise per county. So, where? Are they in a nursing home, prison, small town, large city. But NO, health dept cant say where, HEPA privacy you know. Bull..not asking name, rank and serial #, Just areas. Oh health cant, will cause people to get complacent then. Oh, really? And exactly what is happening in hot spots with crowds of protesters?
I think they don't want the truth out. Whether it is over blown or under known. I had a flu last fall. Was it? Someone said they thought they had it in November.
Wisconsin has been shut pretty tight. And extended to May 26. Hasn't stopped numbers rising.
Will we ever know the truth? Or will it be like the rest of big brother and learn it in 20-50 years from now.very mad

RE: In The Good Ol' Days ____

In the good old days I stayed on the farm, shopped once a month, bought out of catalogs and hardly ever saw anyone. Hmmm...so I am STILL living the good old days?laugh dunno

RE: FAILING EU

France and Italy, maybe Greece..got into a mess of debt due to people being handed perks galore. 4 day work weeks, five week vacations, super pensions. So more went out than came in. Germany has given tons of money to bail them out. And what happens? The populous protest and riot when their government says the EU demands cuts to all the above. WHAT? No free ride?
so the hard working people paying taxes in well off nations pay for slough offs. Now those tax paying workers are getting fed up. What do THEY get..migrant workers.
The US works because states are too pull their own weight. In disasters and portions of tax sent to feds, states get help. But, state A is not expected to send money next door to state B.
One for all and all for one wont work when one thinks they deserve a free ride. In a team, all the horses go at the same pace. Or get dragged and cut out of the harness.

Seriously, do you know of anyone that got Covid 19?

I notice the bulk of replies are not from the US. Is Covid real? Yes. But, questioning now the numbers of deaths promoted by governments and media. This has made a mess of Trumps boom times. Are the Democrats enjoying it..YES!
There are so many conspiracy theories out there. Which are true? We have no way of knowing. The US is a vast country. Much of the cases are in the major, MAJOR cities. Wherever people are shoved arm pit to tuss hole, that is where the cases soar. Not so much in the rural areas where people don't pack buildings and streets.
My county is large, sixty miles square. So of the 32 total cases so far, exactly where were they? Clustered? Separate? And yet the whole state goes on mega stay home ordered by a Democrat Governor. Now state gov is whining, take from taxes is down. So excuse to lay off and shut down and put the little guy out the door. Yet fast food and restaurants are considered essential and bring people out. Grocery yes..but restaurants are a luxury or for lazy people who refuse to cook.
The problem I see are people who say damn the torpedoes, I want to do whatever I want, up yours. There are the risks and reason for total shut down. I see it that let them mingle, sicken and die. The smart ones will wear gloves, masks, disinfect, stay six feet apart and avoid crowds. And start handing out the Darwin Awards.devil

RE: Grannies

Never knew any of my grannies. Only my mom's granny, my great grandma. I was little and remember a visit. She had combined two apartments in building she owned so lived with one son, daughter in law and their two girls and a boy, I think. Crowd of relatives piled into her living room, yakking away. Her in rocking chair, stock market paper in one hand, beer in other, beagle under just missing his tail. Oblivious until someone said ma... She weighed in around 400 at 4'11. Orphaned and in sweat shop by 12. Married 3 times, owned a bar which she passed onto son to run. During prohibition brewed beer and whiskey in basement of her apartment building in city of Chicago. Definitely more Clampet than Doubtfire.rolling on the floor laughing

Seriously, do you know of anyone that got Covid 19?

There is a situation of health department padding count. One gal's pa died and hospital said covid. She ordered an autopsy and it did not find covid. I read that they just assume anyone in high risk that dies must have had it. Convenient, eh?
What gets me is Wisconsin won't count recovered cases. Nor say what area in county is a hot spot. So count always goes up. I see my county sat at 27 for 22 days, then gained to 32. So assume those 27 recovered means only 5 are current!! Next county has 69. Assumes due to county next with huge city helping count. And local town only has 18 cases and only 16 active. I am beginning to see my guys conspiracy theories may hold some water.confused

RE: Did people become too presumptuous online?

Problem with some is ego..know it alls. Problem with some is just mean and want to be better than and put others down,
Other issue is like the story of 6 blind men describing and elephant by feel. One grabs the tail and says it is like a snake. One grabs a leg and says it is like a tree trunk. One pats the side and thinks it is like a wall...on and on. So you have people who have minor input , but think they know it all.scold

RE: Can you fall in love with someone on social media, with just the pic?

That is why movie stars get followers. One can be intrigued by looks. Unfortunately looks is also why someone will go for a jerk who appeals to them and ignores someone they deem icky looking.
I fell for my guy writing back and forth. Only pic he sent was he and his identical brother when they were 5 or so.
I liked how he communicated. He was real and told me about himself. The more we "talked" the more we had in common. Finally I asked for a photo. And was floored when he sent it. "This is what I have been talking to for 3 months!" What a looker!! WOWZA WOW!
It got to the point I really want to meet him and he finally came for a visit.
Did I fall for a photo? Yes and no. At that point I might have been not so pleased if he wasn't handsome. But, his heart and soul had won me over.
When my late husband got to be an invalid I told him, I married a heart, mind and soul, not a body. The body is just the carrier. I realized I didn't like to look at current photos of him. In them I saw the sick, old man he was. Looking at him for real, I only saw the man he had been, that I still loved.
Photos lie. Look at them like a painting. Check the back to see if real or fakes.

RE: Do you take care of yourself?

Healthwise and bodywise. Yes. When I go to town, dress and makeup. On farm? uh oh I am reverting back to when I was 16. Denim, boots, gambler cowboy hat, black gloves and hog leg revolver.Comb hair in morning and to heck with it the rest of the day. My beau visits and I put on eyeliner. After ten years we have aged together and he better get used to it.sigh hug
