RE: setting a new cereer

I am the wrong side of fifty, and training to become a teacher, complete change of career, It's a new life and new adventure, o for it, you will only look back with regrets.

RE: What is the worst physical pain you have ever experienced?

would have to be my frozen shoulder, sometimes the pain can be so intense that I almost pass out, then theres the odd occasion when your mind has numbed the pain and you go to pick something up from a high shelf, that one makes me scream out loud, its been about 3 months now, but have to say that it is easing off somewhat, the acupuncture seems to be working .

RE: um-is it a scouser holiday?

Nope, nothing springs to mind, sorrycheers

RE: Don't You Feel Sorry for TED HAGGARD ?

I guess he needs the money as he can no longer take it from his church

RE: LOOKING FOR ADVICE

I liked your profile, said exactly what you wanted,my only criticism would be that you have limited yourself to only large and tall men, maybe by expanding that criteria to encompass shorter and slimmer men will give you a wider audience.

But wish you the best of luck, you sound a lovely person.

RE: ANYONE HAD THEIR COMPUTER CRASH LATELY?

My dad at 89 bought a laptop unbeknown to me and got so confused, so after numerous visits to help him, for his 91st birthday last year I got him an Apple laptop, Now I have to phone him to check he's ok as he never needs to call for advise. grin

RE: ANYONE HAD THEIR COMPUTER CRASH LATELY?

I eat in my carrolling on the floor laughing

RE: ANYONE HAD THEIR COMPUTER CRASH LATELY?

thumbs up I only use WIN on the laptop, real computing is done on my PC with Linux

RE: ANYONE HAD THEIR COMPUTER CRASH LATELY?

I concur Conrad, having been in the industry since before Norton existed,it originally came out to defrag hard drives on Apple II and expanded from there, In my experience, having worked on PC's prior to DOS and CPM being the main os, I can only agree that Norton leaves a lot to be desired, Trend is a recommended AV software as are a lot of others both free and subscription, personally I use Eset security suite, never had a problem and it is memory friendly unlike Norton wheich eats memory, memory being the single most important part of any computer system, the greater the free memory the faster your PC will perform.

Oh I keep backups, which are up to date by no more that 5 days, and I format and rebuild my hard drive every 6 months.

I don't get problems with my PC,its maintained better than my car.

RE: ANYONE HAD THEIR COMPUTER CRASH LATELY?

Blue screen usually points to a corrupted file within the OS, if you cannot reboot in safe mode then the operating system is corrupted beyond normal repair.

Best to reinstall the operating system.

If you have a backup use that or if you can boot in safe mode, then restore to a point prior to installing Yahoo IM.

RE: Which is the most conservative state?

Hibernation confused

RE: Americans and Europeans...

Americans are insular, Europeans are arrogant

America thinks the world ends at their coast, they have little concept of how their country has an impact on the rest of the world.

Because Europe is built up of numerous countries all with their own culture and history, hey are more open to understand the life style of their neighbours.

History also play a huge part in the differences, Europe has a massive and varied history, cultures have mixed with others due to the progression of the Greek, Roman,Ottoman empires to name a few.

America has a new history, and much of that they would like to forget

In conclusion

America is a truculent teenager, determined to shout and scream to gain attention and refuses to tidy his bedroom because thats her/his right and its his/her future.

Europe is a grumpy old man, has selective deafness on problems that has no interest to him, revels in the past and fears the future, wise enough to stand back from conflict but to senile to know that he's being manipulated.

RE: "Am I the only one who feels this way..?

The pain is intense, tears flow so easily, at night and in the morning.

Time is no healer, but, it allows you to come to terms with your grief, it provides a buffer to learn from.

When you are able, do something totally different, start a new life and use your past experience to help you move towards you new goals.

I have been an engineer all my working life, now, I am studying to become a Teacher, I am moving to another country. I will start a new chapter in my life and I am so looking forward to my future.

Life seems cruel to you at this time in your life, but look around, and you will see others who are in a far worse position, it puts everything into perspective.

RE: Message

Not sure you read the OP the same way as the rest of us

RE: Why do you men view profiles without saying a word?

I'm with you there, I do exactly the same, grin

RE: Why do you men view profiles without saying a word?

Sometimes if I look at a profile, the pictures across the top may catch my eye, so I click and have a peek, also, there are many women who specify particular want or don't wants, if I don't meet the criteria I just move on, never thought it might offend, I never get offended by those who read my profile and don't get in touch.

If you like someone who stopped by, write to him, say you saw him peeking and would he like to chat. You can start the conversation, there are no rules here.

RE: Help? Maybe? Yes/No? Come On...

Mark, contact a local ChipsAway guy, they repair car upholstery and part of the kit is a box of different fibres, you can put down a layer of glue and shake over the fibres, it will feel just as you described.

I know cause I owned a franchise here in the UK, and let my son try to do just that.

RE: Help? Maybe? Yes/No? Come On...

Listen to some Leonard Cohen, his poetry is awesome and when put to his music makes the heart jump.

RE: Classical Music Lovers

I often study with classic music playing in the background, find it does not distract me, but at the same time helps me to have a clearer mind

RE: Message

Here in the UK the banks have just announced bonuses to the senior managers, for paying back the loans on time, yet that the point of the loan has been entirely missed.very mad

RE: English/American words

Americans say pissed when angry at something/one

UK pissed means drunk

Can you teach an old dog new tricks?

Yes I can see that, I was so proud that I had learnt to say hello, good morning, afternoon evening night etc and please thank thank you, when on Cypress, then found on Rhodes they had no idea what I was sayinglaugh

And as Sommer said speed of speech is also an important ingredient, we have been told that when teaching its important to use not just simple sentences but also to speak slower than normal, and that when you return to England people look at you with surprise at the way you speak as if your a simpletonrolling on the floor laughing

RE: Hope.........Our Commonality.............

I don't hope any more

Its a wasted emotion for me

Hope just compounds false dreams

I was hopeful, especially last Christmas, but that hope has faded along with the dream.

Now I have replaced hope with achieve and positive

I will achieve my destiny

I will be positive about my life

Just bin (trash) hope and be positive instead

Can you teach an old dog new tricks?

But now you have hit on another point, at 50 I am able to study far better than at 15, my on-going English course is going well and once I have grasped the concept the rest seems to fall in place, all due I am sure to my life's experience and the fact that my future depends on becoming qualified.
Memorising something that I guess was already in my head, plus the fact that I now really understand what is wanted from me is much easier now, but to learn something entirely different as in a new language seems to be stretching a part of my brain that has long since gone to sleep.

RE: Cam Fun Good Or Bad?

Hmmm, I loves dreams too

RE: Cam Fun Good Or Bad?

Why would you take your shirt off? Is that what you do when in a bar or restaurant, start chatting to a complete stranger and halfway through the conversation start stripping.

No wonder I'm single, I just assumed you just chatted and hopefully arranged to meet another timeuh oh

RE: Mail

Cabbie, How many women have you contacted?, its all about getting out there, being seen, making people take notice of you, then you will have your mailbox overflowing, Guaranteed.

Between you and me, the more you're seen on the forums, the more contacts you get, especially if you make some half decent posts.

Good luck for the futurewave

RE: hi im new to this

Hi Penney

cswelcome

Have fun, and chill.

RE: Beds

They don't sell the space as such, its just done by software, as soon as a topic is posted the software looks for specific words and then matches that to a predefined advert.

Its how CS makes the mods richprofessor

RE: Beds

Its a special foam, originally designed for astronauts by NASA, it's a special foam that allows your body to sink in and be supported at the same time, so it shapes its self to you as you sleep. Keeps your spine in a straight line while still giving good support.
