Top Ten Florida Man Misadventures!

Whenever something REALLY strange happens in the USA, you can almost be certain, that it takes place in Florida.

The Sunshine State is home to several amazing places, and home to a LOT of weird occurrences. I shared that fact, if you can call it that, in a group on Facebook, and I got torn apart in the comments. Someone said, that Florida was the best place ever, and that no weird things could possibly happen there. He got quite defensive, even after several people linked to.. Let's say, weird.. Things that happened there. So when this video popped up in my YouTube feed

I just KNEW that A: I was right. Lots of weird things DO happen in Florida, and B: I have to see that video immediately!

If anyone, who reads my blogs, is from Florida, please let me know just how often you hear about weird stuff happening.

One of the best Florida Man headline I have read is "Florida Man attacks ATM with hatchet after it refuses to take his check."

I have several questions, one of them is "Why?!"

Nothing like that happens here in Denmark. Sometimes I am quite happy about that

Men of God can be amazing!

This is Father Roderick Vonhögen, a Dutch priest. I came across this priest, when I was looking for reaction videos to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and I was immediately drawn in to him. His passion for everything popculture and nerdy is rubbing off on me, and I am a big fan of him.

He goes to several comic cons, goes to all the new fantasy/sci-fi movies and is generally a priest who the World has too few of.

Check out this reaction video he made.

I follow him on Facebook, and he posts everything from nerdy stuff to pilgrimages.

What a legend!

Pay attention, or bad things are gonna happen!

Here in Denmark, the government has decided, that unemployed people have to have something to do, so they are being sent into something called Service++. Basicly, they have to pick up litter from the streets.

I am currently doing that job, and I am paired with two other people. One of them is a real idiot.

It has been cold and damp here in Denmark, so the lawns are extremely soft and wet. Introduce a 2 ton car to that, and

Embedded image from another site

Anyway, I told this to one of the guys who I am paired up with, and he said "It's not gonna be bad. Trust me."

Fast forward to when the idiot parked on a lawn. 2 tonnes of car versus a soft ground equals disaster. We were stuck.

Luckily, there was one guy who came to help, and with his guidance, we were able to get the van free and be on our way.

The morale of the story is: Listen to what people say to you!

Mortal Engines - a review!

Today, I spent about two hours in the dark, watching a steampunk adventure written and produced by Peter Jackson and some other people.

The premise of the movie is about a mysterious young woman named Hester Shaw, who joins forces with Anna Fang, a dangerous outlaw with a bounty on her head, and Tom Natsworthy, an outcast from London, to lead a rebellion against a giant predator city on wheels.

So how is it? Is it just another mediocre film, or does this have some meat to it?

In short: This movie is a great popcorn time!

Hera Hilmar, Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Robert Sheedan, Stephen Lang and Colin Salmon lead the cast on this enormous adventure, that is a visually stunning piece of film. It's rare that I sit and go "Wow!" to a film, but this one really made me sit in awe.

The CGI is on point, and it is very entertaining. There is one chase sequence, where I found myself on the edge of my seat, thoroughly enjoying the action taking place in front of me.

The acting is good, but some of it is wooden, at best, and there are several cheasy oneliners, that really makes you go "Oh my God, really?!". There is also a funny bit, where you go "Heh, fun!"

But all in all, it is a great time. If you are a fan of huge action sequences, with lots of things happening, then you definitely need to see Mortal Engines!

I shall rate this movie 8/10!

Bohemian Rhapsody - a review!

Last weekend, my mother asked me and my siblings, if we wanted to watch Bohemian Rhapsody. I immediately said yes, because I enjoy Queens music, and the trailer looked absolutely amazing, and full of the biggest Queen hits.

We picked today, and I pretty much just got home from the cinema.

So how is it? Would it rock me? Or would I go "another one bites the dust"?

In short: It was absolutely amazing!

The film stars Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, the legendary performer and artist, who sadly died at the age of 45. The promotion material started coming when I worked in the cinema, and the posters had an image of Malek as Freddie. I remember thinking "Hang on, is that the real Freddie?", because it really looked like him. But no, it was Rami Malek.

Other actors incluce: Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin, Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon, Aiden Gillen as John Reid and Mike Myers as Ray Foster.

So what is it about? In short: It is about Freddie's adult life from his beginning in Queen, to the now legendary performance at the 1985 Live Aid from Wembley Stadium in London. The run time on this biopic is 2 hours and 14 minutes, and it is a treat for any Queen fan, no matter the age. Sensitive people will probably look away as Freddie's bi/homosexuality is shown, but that is necessary to be shown, since it wouldn't do Freddie justice if it was left out.

How is Rami as Freddie? It's a tough man to play, particularly since he was such a flamboyant guy. I am happy to report, that Rami absolutely nailed the mannerisms and the look of Freddie. It is easily the best performance I have seen this year. I am blown away at just HOW much he looks like Freddie. Gwilym Lee looks exactly like Brian May, which is extremely scary to see. Ben Hardy did a great job as Roger Taylor, and Joseph Mazzello (yes, Tim from Jurassic Park) did a great job as John Deacon.

If you watch some live footage of Queen, and watch the four actors portray the four Queen members, you will see that they pretty much nail their performances.

Mike Myers is fantastic as the EMI record producer, who objects to playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio, as it was too long. But Queen got it their way, and it went on to be their biggest hit!

So, if you are a fan of Queen, or if you are interested in seeing what the hype is about, go see Bohemian Rhapsody.

I shall give this movie a 9/10. It is a wonderful movie, full of great music!

Living in Denmark - how good is it?

I noticed a comment on my first blog, that asked how it was to live in Denmark, so I decided to write a blog, describing how it is to live here in this tiny Kingdom.

First things first: It is a very small country. There are an estimated 5,806,015 people living in Denmark. To put that into context: It is less people than the entire population of the great state of Missouri, USA. Denmark is located in Northern Europe, right above Germany, but the impact that Denmark has on the World is staggering. Lots of things in the World either come from Danish, or has Danish heritage. Some parts of England still has a Danish feel to it, which is due to something called Danelaw. Basicly, Denmark owned the entire lower half of the United Kingdom, until our King at the time, refused to send out a raid, that would conquer the UK. But that is a story for another blog.

Now, Denmark has been known to be the happiest country in the World. Several times, actually. But is it true? Are Danish people REALLY that happy?

In a way, yes. That has something to do with our quality of living.

You may have seen a certain Fox News segment about socialism and Denmark. In that piece, there are several things that are twisted to fit a narrative, and others are just plain wrong. Yes, we do have a high tax rate. Some pay upwards of 60% of their monthly income in taxes. But you only do that, when you earn more than $6853 per month, which a lot do. Me, well I pay just 37% in taxes. I am on Government funded aid, so I don't earn a lot. But I earn enough to get by. Anyway, back to Denmark!

Due to our tax system, we have Universal healthcare, which means that anyone, no matter how much you earn, can get to a doctor or a hospital, without paying a single cent. Surgeries, births and trips to the ER are also free of charge. There are some things that we have to pay for. Dentists are one of the things.

We have free college education here, as well as free university education. We can apply for a grant through the government, that pays up to $923, before taxes, each month for the duration of your education. So far so good.

We do have our fair share of crimes, unfortunately. Gangs roam the major cities, and people do kill. So what do they use? They use knives and axes, mostly. Why not guns? Because guns are banned in Denmark! There are very strict gun laws here. We only allow private firearm possession for the purposes of hunting and sport shooting. Holders of hunting licenses and members of rifle clubs, with a valid weapon permit are allowed to possess certain models of shotguns and rifles. To obtain a hunting license, applicants have to pass several tests proving their knowledge about guns, ammunition, game characteristics and habits. Target shooting is considered the only valid reason for pistol ownership. Pistol licenses are only given to people after a two year active membership with a shooting club.

All gun licenses have to be specially authorized by the Minister of Justice. License holders are allowed to own multiple firearms, but have to get a separate permit for each weapon. The permits are only issued if the applicant can show a valid reason for owning the particular weapon. Guns and ammunition have to be stored separately in special gunrooms with double locks.

We also have an enormous tax on cars. It was recently lowered from 180% to 150%. Fuel is also expensive. Gasoline is often $6,07 per gallon, so it is definitely not cheap to have a car in Denmark.

And yet, despite all that. Despite all the taxes, all the gangs, all the times where I have said "I am sick and tired of this place", I find myself proud of being born in Denmark. Born in a country, that for all purposes is a fairy tale land. The rolling hills of Jylland, to the bustling hell of Copenhagen. From the beaches in the South and the forests in the North!

Denmark is my home - and I love it with all my heart!

I hope this gave you an idea of how amazing my country is!

Country music!

I am a big, big, BIG country music fan, and I have a playlist on my Spotify dedicated to that. Once the songs run out, and if you haven't pressed "repeat playlist", Spotify automatically queues up songs that are similar to the songs you played before.

One particular song is from Montgomery Gentry, and it's called Titty's Beer.

And you know what? It is absolutely fantastic!

Another song that came up, was 'Merica by Earl Dibbles Jr. A song that is about AMERICA and just how amazing and awesome it really is! The lyric video is amazing! Full of tailgate parties, big concerts, shotgunning beer, trucks and guns!

thumbs up

F*ck yeah, 'Merica!

Also, after talking with my sister, roommate and my family, I have decided to postpone my doctors visit. All of them said the same thing: I am grieving for my father. And if they can tell it's grief, then a doctor is going to tell me the exact same thing.

If I don't improve after a month, I will go to the doctor. But for now, I am tackling the grief and the void that my father left behind. So that is the status of my mental health.

I really hope everything is okay!

Earlier today, I saw a car with no front or back license plates, which is required by law here in Denmark. That might not be so weird. What was weird, was that the engine was running, and there was a woman sitting in the drivers seat, and she wasn't moving. But she was alive, because she was looking around, almost like she was watching someone or keeping a lookout. There has been a string of robberies and assaults here, so we have been told to be vigilant and report anything suspicious or strange to law enforcement.

So this woman is really starting to worry me. Is she okay? What is she doing in that car on that parking lot? Why didn't the car have license plates on?

My next stop during the day was at a school, that so happens to have a police station attached to it. So I went into the station, and reported the incident to the officers there. I told them everything I knew: The color of the car and the make and the model. I also gave a description of the woman sitting in the car. They told me that they would look into it.

I really hope everything works out, and that she is okay! It would be horrible if something happened to her. You might think "Well, couldn't you just have contacted the woman yourself, instead of reporting it to the cops?"

Note the part I wrote further up about the string of robberies and assaults. I am not really looking to be beaten down or robbed, so I made mental notes and reported it to the appropriate authorities.

In other news: I have dabbled with the idea of moving to another part of Denmark. It has been something I have been wanting to do for a long time, so I think I will do it. I will start looking for a job there, and then take it from there.

Today has been a good day, mentally. I haven't been sad at all. Just extremely tired, but that is to be expected since I was up at 5.45 am this morning. I can sleep in on Friday. I have to be up at 7 am there, which is a lot better than 5.45 am, let me tell you that!

But yeah, I really hope that woman is alright, and nothing bad has happened

Am I depressed?

The other day, I wrote a blog about me being lonely, and someone commented and asked if I was maybe depressed? To tell you the truth: I don't know. Maybe.

Usually when I am alone, I enjoy it, but other times I am so extremely lonely that I want to cry. Like properly bawl my eyes out. To prevent that from happening, I just put on some comedy or a song that I really love. But maybe it is good to have a cry once in a while.

I am VERY good at masking my true feelings. Some say that they don't know HOW I feel, because all they see is smiles and laughter. Maybe I should open up to them, and tell them how I really feel at a certain point in time. But that is not for now. I firstly need to think about how I am going to say it to them. Maybe in a few weeks, or maybe next year.

I know that online tests can be a bit... inconclusive.. But I took one, and it showed, that I have clear signs of a possible depression. I need to go to the doctor to see if the test is accurate, or if it is just a bit of a hag.

I will see if I can get a time on Tuesday, and then get myself checked out. I am worried about the result, to be honest.

Loneliness, the weekend and more

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving!

So I am sitting here, listening to a playlist made from my top played songs in 2017. I am browsing the web and playing a video game, when it suddenly hit me: I am very, VERY lonely. It comes and goes.

One day I can be happy with what I have, and be cheerful. The next day, I can be a sad mess, that just want a cuddle. Nothing more than a cuddle. A long one, at that.

The loneliness hits hardest at around 7 pm. Without fail. It just hits me like a ton of bricks falling from the Empire State Building. I should go out and meet some new people, but I don't have the money to go to a bar. I also have to travel a LONG distance in order to get to a bar, and in case I meet someone at said bar, then I have to get her home with me in the train, at 11 pm on a Thursday evening. And that just doesn't fly!

So, I am just sitting here, waiting for the correct time to strike up a conversation with someone - provided they respond.

I know tomorrow will be better, but right now, the loneliness is hitting me.

On another note: I am going to my mothers place on Saturday for a cabbage feast. There is this weird tradition here in my family to eat cabbage on the 24th of November. And not just any cabbage - THIS kind of cabbage

It gives you an incredible amount of gas in your stomach, which results in farts - farts everywhere. For the few people who doesn't like it, I.E my sister and I, well there's pizzas for us. WITH pineapple! Because pizza with pineapple is amazing!

These past few days have been extremely tiring. I go to bed at midnight, and I am up again at 5.45 am, which makes me incredibly slow and tired. But usually I can fake being super fresh in the mornings, while I secretly wishes that I was back home in bed, sleeping. Having bought Farming Simulator 2019 as well doesn't make it better!

I can sleep in on Sunday! I look forward to that!

It is done!

A few blogs ago, I told about my fathers death. The other day, my sister wrote me, saying the the tombstone was put in place. Immediately I felt some relief. Finally he is resting in peace! It is about time too.

Now I can visit him whenever I want to. No more empty grave site. This chapter of my life is now closed. Now I can get some closure.

I am taking it slowly. I do not want to rush it, because I fear I will not have the closure I need.

Taking one day at a time, at the moment. So far, it is working.

Information about who I am

I have seen several people call me Phil, so I thought I would write a short blog containing information about me.

So let's get started!

My first name is Danny. Philipsen is my surname, and the name I go by online. Well, when I game, my online name is Sn3glZ1ll4 or Snaggles.

I was born on a summers day way back in 1984, which makes me 34 years old. I don't feel like a 34-year old, though. I still feel young at heart, which is something that I really love. I am a non smoker and I don't drink (cut to me buying a Magnum sized champagne yesterday). I live with a friend in a town called Greve, south of Copenhagen. I am unemployed, but I hope to be employed before the end of the year.

I have two siblings, a brother and a sister. I don't see them much, and our relationship is very rocky. We can put aside our differences and work together, when the need arises.

I am an avid video gamer. Over the next month, I will get my hands on two new games: Farming Simulator 2019 and Just Cause 4. You could say I am a hardcore gamer, but not on a competitive level.

My sense of humor is sarcastic, with a bit of dark added to it. I love puns, dad jokes and VERY bad jokes. One in particular: What do you call a fish with no eyes? Fsh. I love writing dad joke level comments to pictures, and I often respond with memes.

But most of all: I am a down to earth guy, who just wants to be loved.

So there you have it. An extremely short version of who I am. More can be told via a message!
