I responded to a casting call!

When I say responded, I really mean that I was contacted about being an extra in a new drama series here in Denmark.

It's a 10 episode prime time drama series, and I am going to be in three scenes. One where I am a passer by on a street, one where I am business like, and one where I am a homeless person.

It's gonna be extremely exciting, and I cannot wait to explore this new acting world. Granted, an extra isn't the same as being an actor, but it's a step inside. I have no lines, though, so it's purely a background role. But it's gonna be exciting none the less!

I am paid a gift certificate worth $30, but it's not the pay that makes me want to do it.

Who knows, maybe this job as an extra will result in more roles as an extra. I know some people make a living off it, so we'll see!

This could have ended in a bad way!

Earlier today, while I was going to work, I began to feel weird. Like my bloodsugar was running low. In order to combat that, I ate some pain au chocolat's that I had in my carrier bag. It helped a little, but I was still not feeling my best.

When I arrived at my work, I immediately informed my manager, that I wasn't feeling well, and that things would go at a slower pace today, because of that.

Most managers I have worked with, have told me to suck it up and work through it, but this manager told me that I could take it in my own pace today, since there wouldn't be much for me to do. I was offered a large soda with endless refills, if I wanted that.

The fact is, that if I had decided not to eat those two Yankee bars, and drink that one pineapple soda, I would have had a real possibility of collapsing again. I did it once before at my old job. A day with no sugary things ended up with me collapsing on the floor, so to avoid that, I quickly ate and drank something with a LOT of sugar. After I took my break, where I consumed 5 cheeseburgers and 3 chili cheese tops, I felt back to normal again. That meant that the pace was increasing, and my mood was improving.

I am now at home, relaxing. It's 11.12 pm, so it's almost time to go to bed.

Apart from my lack of sugar, my day went well today. I can feel that I am getting better at my job, and that I am getting closer with the other employees. Roll on march 18th, so I can know if they want me there permanently!

Only 6 days left!

I am a huge, huge, HUGE car nut, so I devour any sort of car related videos and tv shows. The biggest one was Top Gear, when Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were the hosts. I loved watching the stupid challenges, the car reviews and the epic journeys. I was super bummed out, when Top Gear ended in 2015.

When it was revealed that they went to Amazon to make a new car show, I immediately subscribed to Amazon Prime, in order to be able to see it.

The first season was amazing! Full of fun shenanigans, cringey bits and amazing cars. The opening scene was the best thing ever! I loved every episode, and I was hoping they would release a season 2, which they did.

That was even better, and it was clear that the show would only be bigger.

Now we are six days away from season 3. It premiers on the 18th of January, and I am so going to see every episode!

I hope they will include some truly spectacular cars!

Mornings done right!

I have a late shift today, so I could sleep in. And I did! I woke up at 7.30 am, which is around 2 hours ago. I spent a good amount of time catching up on my regular YouTube stuff. News videos, vlogs and several short videos, that I hadn't seen.

I then got up, and got dressed. Then the music started - a playlist based on a Hong Kong/Taiwanese brutal death metal band called Facelift Deformation. That band is so damn cool! What a way to start the day!

Soon I will be going to work for the final time this week. I have a weekend off, which is amazing! I need a weekend to myself, where I don't do a lot. I need to take some me time, and this weekend is the perfect time to do it. I am thinking a weekend full of video games, snaaaaaaacks, pizza and drinks. Not the alcoholic kind, but soda. I need to shop for that, though. It's gonna be so good!

I am really enjoying my work at the moment. Lots of fun times are had, and I really love to be there. Hopefully they will hire me permanently, when my trial period is up. The 18th of March is my last trial day, so by then I should hopefully get a yes or a no. I have a feeling it's a yes, though, but we'll see!

This opinion ALWAYS gets me into trouble!

New Years Eve, the only evening where it is acceptable to get hammered and play with explosives. Because that is what fireworks are: Explosives!

Here in Denmark, every New Years Eve always produce the same story: Rescue personnel, like firefighters and EMT's, are getting SHOT AT with fireworks - and it's usually a bunch of teens who are extremely bored. Many so called experts always ask the same question: "How can we make sure this doesn't happen?"

The answer to that is extremely simple: Ban fireworks to private people. If you MUST use it, you have to be specially trained, or possibly have a military background, preferably with the EOD. You need to have a good understanding of explosives as well. If you don't have either of those things, you cannot buy any fireworks.

That is what I believe will solve that issue. I wrote that on a Facebook thread, and people are NOT happy. At all! Here are just a small selection of comments that I have received on this opinion: "Die!". "f*ck off! Let people have fun!". "You are the reason why I am in favor of the death penalty".. But this one is my favourite: "Commie!"..

Because wanting to ban fireworks is SOMEHOW communist doh

The fact is: Fireworks ARE explosives. Mix explosives with a ridiculous intake of alcohol, and the results are quite clear!

It was a heavy lifting kind of day

500 kgs, or 1102.31 lbs, to be exact. That is how much I lobbed around today. Half a TONNE!

Let me explain!

You see, at my work, we got fresh produce and wrappings for the food. We needed to fit that into our walk in fridge, so some of the things already there, had to be moved. The thing in question was milk shake mix. One box weights 10 kilos. or around 22 lbs. On one dolly, there are around 250 kilos/551 lbs of milk shake mix, and we had two of those. I had to move both dollies to our second fridge, which is located in a shed outside.

I went to grab a pallet mover, but it was too wide. I then had to grab our second pallet mover, which had no problem moving the dollies. When I got to the second fridge, then the problem began. There was a small section of the floor which wasn't angled properly, so I had no way of getting the dollies into the fridge. So what did I have to do? Restack the dollies.

15 minutes later, my back was screaming "STOP IT!", while my arms were aching. I had just moved 1102 lbs of milk shake mix in 15 minutes. Now, I know that it isn't wise to rush those things, but I really just wanted it to be done, so I could go home.

So now I am sitting here a few hours later, completely exhausted. I am working tomorrow from 6 am to lunchtime, so I have to be up at 5 am :(. I hate morning shifts, since I am NOT a morning person - at all!

But yeah, I feel extremely worn out, but I know it will be gone by tomorrow. Luckily I don't have to move the shake mix again!

Relationships, problems with the family and being single!

All around me (are familiar fac..), no.. All around me, people get into relationships. I have five friends, who each found their new love a few days into January. They all post happy statuses on Facebook, how they really believe that their new love is the big one. That they will stay together forever. Now, I am not usually a Debbie Downer, but relationships rarely last forever these days. 9 out of 10 times, the relationships fail because they won't talk about things properly. One argument, and the relationship is done. I think that is one of the reasons I am still single. I do not have the time or the need to jump head first into a relationship with someone, who gives up on the first sight of trouble. 99.9% of problems can be solved by sitting down and talking like adults, and sadly, most people lack that basic understanding.

Talking about lacking basic understanding, my brother wrote me today, saying that I had to transfer some money to him, from the Christmas meal. I told him, that I would transfer them when I had the money for it, but it wouldn't be now, since I bought my new phone, because my other one had a cracked screen, and was literally falling apart. My brother, the GENIOUS that he is, said that I could easily have waited to buy my phone, and pay him back. I get where he is coming from, but I needed that phone, because most of my daily schedule and activities are listed on my phone, that was falling apart. After I told him that, he went "I get that, but the phone could easily have waited two weeks"..

No.. No it couldn't.. The phone was on offer, and it was a great offer. Anyway, as you can probably tell, my relationship with my brother isn't really the best. He is the sort of guy who LOVES to take control of EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Even if he is joining a party, that he isn't hosting, he will take control and give out orders. I am the complete opposite to him. I hate being in charge of anything, and I don't pester people to pay a relatively small amount back. We are talking $22, so it's not like it's a fortune. He is earning a LOT more than me, so it's not like he will be needing them soon.

But I will pay him back when I can, which I have told him.

On another note, I was thinking about if I will stay single forever, or if 2019 will bring someone into my life. I have been single for at least 20 years. All through my teens now that I think about it, and I am 34 now. My new job could possibly be where I meet someone, but I am taking every day as it comes.

Speaking of work, today I was a real superstar. It's like I was born to work there. I don't remember telling you where I work. If I have, then I will let you know again: I work at McDonald's as a dishwasher/cleaner/general badass/all round staff. I really love that job! Sadly I am only there on a 13 week trial basis, which is up in March. But if I play my cards just right, I will definitely get a permanent hire. If that happens, then I will be extremely well paid. The salary is $24 per hour, so it will definitely set me up nice. It will be a 37 hour work week, at minimum, which will net me $3552 before taxes. $2212 after taxes, so I pay over $1000 in taxes, which I really don't mind. Not with all the benefits that follows.

But - I will know more in March, and I will be sure to update you by then!

A strong start to 2019!

This year is three days old, but I have started it on a strong note. I am performing well at work, and I have been told, that if I keep this up, I will definitely be considered for a permanent position. I really love that my hard work is paying off!

If I get hired there, a very big hurdle will have been crossed! I will finally be paid well, and be able to get a place of my very own, and not rent from my friend. It's not because it isn't nice to live with him. We do have some fun times and all, but I kind of miss having my very own place. Plus my friend is a MASSIVE clutterhead. I have fallen down the stairs once, because some toys were left on the staircase. He also never really cleans up after himself. It's always me or his girlfriend who has to clean the kitchen or the entire place.

Speaking of him and his girlfriend, it's kind of new their relationship, so they really like to get intimate.. And I can hear everything they do. That is also one of the reasons why I look forward to a place of my own. But most of all, I look forward to a place where I can hang up some art.

Regarding the train crash yesterday, well there is an update on that. Final count is 8 dead and 16 injured. It's an absolutely horrible crash, that shouldn't have happened. Hopefully they will learn from this, and ban EVERY vehicle from crossing the bridge during very high winds. Or at least strap down any wagons on the train. If it was strapped down, this crash wouldn't have happened.

One thing I have noticed, is that some free dating websites, aren't really free. Once you sign up, you have to spend actual money on coins, that you can use to write to other members. 19 euro for 55 coins, and every message is 5 coins. That is 11 messages, before you have to fill up coins again. The messages has a 340 character limit, for some reason, so it quickly gets very, very expensive to use that website. I think I will delete my profile on that site, since it's suuuper frustrating to have to spend money on coins in order to talk to people there.

Anyway, I hope your 2019 has been off to a great start :)

A possible permanent employment on the horizon?

Today, while I was cleaning the pretty dirty floors at the storage part of the job where I am on a 3 month trial run, I talked to my mentor. I told her that I really loved coming there, and that I hope that the others were satisfied with my performance there, since I am pretty good at what I do (their words, not mine). My mentor said, that they are VERY happy with my performance. So it kind of sounds like I will have a job there once my trial period is up in March. It would literally mean the world to me, if I was hired on a permanent basis, since I really do love the work.

In other news: I bought a new phone today, since I cracked the screen on my other phone a while back. The one I wanted was too expensive, so I settled for something less expensive. It's still pretty rad, though. It has dual cameras on the back, so it's amazing to take pictures with.

It was cheap as well, which makes it an even better deal! What kind of phone is it, do I hear you ask? Well, I am glad you did! What I bought was a Huawei P Smart. I know that Huawei has a somewhat sketchy reputation, being involved in espionage and everything, but I trust the brand. Of course, if it turns out that they indeed HAVE been spying on people, then I will drop them like a sack of potatoes.

Earlier today, I heard something about a crash that happened here in Denmark. When I was on my break, I looked at the news: A semi truck trailer had been blown off a freight train, and it hit a commuter train, killing 6 and wounding 18. What a horrible thing! Of course, seeing that the truck was carrying beer, some people began making "jokes" about their beer being late. 6 people just died, and all you care about is your beer? You disgust me!

Anyway, to end on a light note: Possible permanent employment to me! I really hope I get that, because the job is fantastic!

2018 recap!

This year is almost over. It feels like it has flown by, mainly because I had some event happen that floored me.

So what has my 2018 brought me?

I got a job in a cinema in January, and it lasted all the way to July, when I was told I was too old for the job, so they were forced to let me go. I had turned 34 the month before. Such BS with me being too old, by the way! I think they wanted someone new, someone they could mold after their wish. What did I get as a thank you for seven months of work? 4 free movie tickets.. I mean, REALLY? I mean, I am happy with some free tickets, but honestly, I was expecting something else. A bigger gift or something, since I was always willing to work extra shifts.

Once I left the job in the cinema, I was going through a bit of a change. I was sleeping on my brothers sofa during that time, because I didn't have a place to call my own. Suddenly, he says that I have to find a different place to sleep, since he would be having one of my nieces move in with him permanently, starting in August. So, I bunk up with a friend, who just happened to have a room available for me. The rent was set at $460, but then I had everything included. Electricity, internet, water and heating, so I jumped on that immediately.

Over the next few months, I was looking at different jobs both here in Denmark and over seas. My main focus was Malta, but no company I talked to wanted to hire me. There were some companies that wanted to hire me, but I had to pay everything myself. Flights, accommodation and anything else related to the move, PLUS I had to have some money available for the first month. I wasn't able to get that together, so I decided to not continue further.

At one point, I get a call asking me if I would have any problems working in a McDonald's. "No, none at all", was my reply. So I was asked to meet the person in charge of employment at a restaurant close to where I live, and we agreed I was going to start on the 18th of December at 6 am. I am still there, and I love it! I really want to pursue it!

2018 was also the year where I lost my beloved father. I am still in a place of denial, and I am not prepared to delete his number from my phone. Maybe some day I will be. The whole experience floored me. Some days I wouldn't eat or drink, and I really got to a point where I felt I had to go out and enjoy a concert or something.

A few days after my father was buried, I got a message from at friend of mine, asking me if I wanted to go with her to Shania Twain. I didn't have to pay for the ticket or the accommodation, since that was already taken care of. It should be noted, that I have had a crush on this friend for a very long time, so the opportunity to go to a concert with her, AND spend a night with her was too good to pass up. So I agreed, and we met a few days later in Copenhagen. We spent the next few hours talking, mainly about the concert. Once the show was over, we went back to our accommodation, and continued to talk. I would love to say that the evening ended on a steamy note, but it didn't. I passed out at 2 am, and she went to sleep at 5 am. The morning was amazing. Lots of cuddles and laughs - just what I needed after what happened with my father.

We have made plans to see each other again, but we need to find out when that will be.

But to sum up my 2018 - quick, brutal and emotional, but also fun and I learned a lot about myself. I just hope that 2019 will be better

Hunter Killer - a review!

What do you get when you take Gerard Butler, Michael Nyqvist, Gary Oldman and Common and put them in a spy thriller?

The answer is a movie, that has a great premise, but somewhat lacks a bit of a punch, to make it into a home run, and it comes across as a bit boring. The story is relatively straight forward: An untested submarine captain named Joe Glass, played by Gerard Butler, assumes command of the USS Arkansas, and he is told that the USS Tampa Bay has been lost in the Arctic. At the same time, a Russian general stages a coup against the Russian President, so now it is up to Glass to stage a rescue operation with some badass Navy Seals, in order to free the President, and fix everything.

I hadn't seen ANY marketing for this movie, only the posters, hanging in my local cinema, so I had my assumptions. If a movie doesn't have any marketing, then it's probably a bit terrible. But I am a big fan of Gerard Butler, and I love submarine thrillers, so I had to see it. I was excited, because Gerard Butler in an action film guarantees a good time.. Just not this time around.

It doesn't spare anything regarding the action. There are shootouts, explosions and exciting bits, but that's about it, really. There is also a TON of CGI work, and you'd think that we in 2018 can make decent submarine CGI, and that you could make explosions look amazing in CGI, but no! The special effect- and visual effect team really dropped the ball on this one, particularly towards the end.

Acting wise, well it has its moments. Gary Oldman is great as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Donnegan, and Gerard Butler is great as Joe Glass. Other actors worth mentioning is Toby Stephens as Bill Beaman, the leader of the Navy Seals. He is a no nonsense, hardcore soldier, who enjoys going into battle and killing. The reason why I think he is worthy of a mention, is that he is SUPPOSED to be a hardcore badass, but he just ends up being a parody of every war-hungry team leader.

Common is also doing a decent job as RADM John Fisk, but it is clear, that he isn't suitable for military parts. He is more suited for secondary parts or even third degree parts.

All-in-all, it's a sub-par film, that is forgotten very quickly. The only stand out thing about this movie is Michael Nyqvist, Gary Oldman and Gerard Butler. If you are thinking about seeing it, wait until it is out on dvd.

Rating: 3/10

The Negotiator - a review!

I was browsing Amazon Prime, when I came across a movie that I always wanted to see - the 1998 action/crime/drama/conspiracy flick The Negotiator.

The film stars Samuel L. Jackson as Danny Roman, a hostage negotiator, who is framed for his partners murder, as well as taking some money from a Pension Fund. With his life unraveling in front of him, he makes a desperate move, and takes hostages in an office building in Chicago. It is now up to Danny to find the truth, with the help of another hostage negotiator named Chris Sabian, played by Kevin Spacey. Just how far does this conspiracy go?

Let me be clear about this from the start: This film is excellent! It is a thrill from start to finish, and it keeps you guessing as to who killed Danny's partner.

Besides Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey, the other roles are filled by some pretty major names: David Morse, Ron Rifkin, John Spencer, J.T. Walsh, Paul Giamatti, Regina Taylor, Michael Cudlitz, Dean Norris and Nestor Serrano. It is directed by F. Gary Gray.

Movies from the 1990s always have a certain quality to it, that most films lack today. Many of the major blockbusters, that we know and love, are from that era. We are talking about Independence Day, The Rock, Bad Boys, The Big Lebowski, Saving Private Ryan, American History X, The Truman Show, Deep Impact and Armageddon. This was also a time when Kevin Spacey had a clean reputation, regarding his alleged s*xual deviancy.

I really loved how they managed to keep the suspense until the end. It was only in the last 5 minutes of the movie, that we got to know who did it. Something films today lack. Most of the times, a new movie gives away the villain at the end of the first act.

I shall give this movie an 8 out of 10!
